Sanabia Loses Homecoming Game

Alex Sanabia pitched for the first time in San Diego as a Major Leaguer and fell to 2-5 in the process.   The San Diego native was the pitcher of record in the Miami Marlins' 5-1 loss to the Padres.  Miami has now scored only 1 run combined in two games after putting up a season high 14 in Philadelphia.  The Padres who also have a losing record have outscored the Marlins 10-1. Offense Goes Silent

A day after scoring 14 runs, the Miami Marlins were shut out by the San Diego Padres in a 5-0 loss.  The loss snapped a two game win streak for Miami and quieted some murmurs about an improved offense.   The loss to a fellow team with a losing record dropped the Marlins to 10-23 on the year.   Miami remains in last place in the National League East. Miami Puts Up 14 Runs

The Miami Marlins' offense has a big day on Sunday beating the Philadelphia Phillies by a final score of 14-2.   Miami scored nine runs in the first few innings and continued to add on as the game progressed.   The oddity of this outburst is Kevin Slowey was the starter and he had received the worst run support thus far.   With the ton of support, Slowey won his first game as a Marlin and the team won their second straight.
