I'm on the hardball times right now, and they are discussing NL rookie of the year candidates with Coghlan being merely a footnote. Note only is it a slight against his outstanding performance this year, the way they justify not listing Coghlan among their top candidates is another slight at Florida as well. I'm letting them know what I think of their "analysis" and I'm sure there are lots here who can do it better than I.

It's not just this one particular website, it's a fight for the bigger picture in my book.

Not sure how much good it will do, but anyone going to the Saturday Phillies / Marlins game should bring huge signs for Chris to win ROY... The game is gonna be on Fox, so make it known on a national stage...

"But who outside the division has heard of him"

That tells you all you need to know about that guy. He obviously has no qualifications to be writing that article, otherwise Q Rating wouldn't be a factor.

Done. I think only you and I have even defended Cogs on that site.

His justification was absurd. "Great average but who outside of the division has heard of him?"

Don't bother, they'll probably pull out some kind of mathematical formula disproving Chris Coghlan's very existence.

HAHAHA @ Puma.

Also, Ken Rosenthal just named him his NL Rookie of the Year, ahead of Happ and Hanson. So don't worry too much about some unkown idiot's article.

Thanks to those who participated. FWIW The Hardball Times is a very respectable website and I read a lot of their articles and thoroughly enjoy them. I just think they got things wrong in this case and I'm tired of Florida constantly being the bastard stepchild of baseball. Just because we don't have high attendance doesn't mean our players don't deserve credit.
