  1. Someone start tonight's game thread!
  2. My game recap is here - https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/blogs/entry/36-marlins-fall-in-tight-opener-to-pirates/ Tough loss and way to begin the season. Read my recap.
  3. The Miami Marlins battled the Pittsburgh Pirates for 12 innings on Thursday, ultimately falling short 6-5. Jesús Luzardo got the start for Miami, tossing five solid innings with eight strikeouts. However, his 85-pitch effort led to an early bullpen appearance. The decision to pull Luzardo sparked debate, with some fans like @pollythewog supporting the move, while others like @Rydawg felt Luzardo had more in the tank. The bullpen ended up throwing seven innings, which could impact the rest of the series. If you missed the game thread action, you can read it here. George Soriano struggled in the 6th, loading the bases before Andrew Nardi came on in relief. Nardi escaped the jam with strikeouts but faltered in the 7th, allowing two runs. Anthony Bender, making his return after a 2023 absence, tossed a scoreless inning despite a walk and a hit. As the season progresses, expect Bender to see more high-leverage situations, potentially including the 8th and 9th innings. Sixto Sanchez's first big-league appearance since 2020 proved rough. Oniel Cruz launched Sanchez's second pitch for a home run, tying the game at five. With the blown save, Sanchez's role in early high-pressure situations remains unclear. Declan Cronin, a non-roster invitee who impressed in spring training, showcased his value. He pitched three scoreless innings in extra innings, allowing just one run due to the placed runner rule. Cronin struck out three batters, solidifying his spot on the roster. Offensively, the Marlins started strong with four runs in the first three innings but went quiet later. They finished 2-17 with runners in scoring position, echoing 2023's struggles. Miami left ten men on base and hit into three double plays. Jake Burger led the offense with three hits and three RBIs. Josh Bell chipped in two hits and a run scored, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. doubled, scored twice, and hustled on the basepaths. The series continues Friday at 7:10 PM with A.J. Puk making his first career MLB start for the Marlins.
  4. Bell needs to get that there. Luckily they didn’t score
  5. Yeah right. You shit your pants alongside me. I thought that was a two run double down the line
  6. Was a ball but previous one was a strike so good!
