Guess you're right, and I think the immediate impact will help. The last 2-3 years won't be fun though.

In this market, 15 Mil per for a guy who can give you great defense, 25-30 HRs at Citi, and is a great clubhouse guy is a pretty good deal. In the grand scheme of things, it's an overpay but not by a whole lot. I saw a good write-up on the current market and an outfielder makes between 5 and 17 Mil per WAR point with the League average for all positions being about 5.5Mil. Taking into account age and decline, I think it's safe to say he can be a 2.5-3 WAR player from here on out, that's on the low end of average in that price per WAR range. I would say it's a pretty average deal.

Grandy's deal is fair in this market, but that just speaks volumes about this market.

the hell.... and we couldn't find a trade partner for him?? this seems really wrong.
  8. Poor Baltimore. Webb is going to be absolutely atrocious in the AL East. Last year was a fluke and the only good number he had was his ERA.

    That's actually very reasonable...

I guess LoMo just lost a suitor.

That's a LOT of money, even for a short term deal. I wouldn't want even half that much money tied into the payroll over the next two years. Napoli isn't THAT good of a hitter that he's worth $16 million per year.

I think it's pretty reasonable. It's not a stretch to predict that he'll hold up production for 2 years. It was the 4 or 5 year deal that I was afraid of.

would like to have him back another season but oh well. Glad he was able to turn that Marlins season into a nice deal.
  18. Damn Qualls would've been a nice guy to keep but good for him.
  19. good for qualls. liked that dude. He's a much better signing than Webb.

Still curious why we didn't trade him at the deadline

That's big money for Chad Qualls. Good for him.
