I just said he should swing more. Do you want your best hitter standing at the plate, looking for walks? Depending on worse hitters knocking him in? Did not walking ever hurt Vladimir Guerrero from being a great hitter?

Completely different hitters, though. The Reds aren't complaining, and they obviously feel he doesn't need to change, considering, you know, $225m over 10 years. He's not looking for walks, though. He's just smart enough to not swing at f*** all just because it's close to the plate. He looks for pitches to drive, and guess what? He does just that.

I saw some ridiculous stat that he had pulled only 3 balls foul in like a 5 year span (I may be misremembering, but still). That's just crazy.
  3. Did walking turn Barry Bonds into a terrible hitter?

Yes. Imagine if he swung the bat more!

Sticking needles in his butt made Barry Bonds a better hitter, not walking.

Steroids or not, he was the best in the game. But this is another conversation for another day.

Using steroids is cheating, period. That's why he will never get a whiff of Cooperstown unless he buys a ticket.

It's not cheating if it isn't against the rules, and he never tested positive when it was against the rules.

But again, another convo, another day.

Taking steroids when they are not prescribed by a doctor is against the LAW!

Any way, I think the Marlins should cast a wide net for a 3B. I think they should package up Ruggiano, Dobbs and Brantly to try to get a younger 3B that is blocked at the majors by a veteran.

Dobbs and Brantly together might be worth a small turd.

I agree. Probably have to throw in a pitcher to get anything done.

Time to let everyone crush me about someone's OBP. I would like to deal for Dayan Viciedo for 3B.

I can see the teams lining up for their chance to obtain Ruggiano, Dobbs, and Brantly!

You got me there. Gonna have to likely trade some pitching for a real 3B.
