Miami signs ex cubs closer to a one year deal.

  3. This just doesn't make sense at face value. The only thing I can think of is someone in the organization has been working with Marmol and has an idea of how to cut his BB/9. Which is 6.1 for his career. Yikes.

Tommy Hutton will be ranting more.

I don't get it, unless this is setting up Cishek/Middlebrooks, etc.

    That wouldn't exactly be comforting.

    Walks drive me batty.
Marmol would be the last pitcher I would sign.

I just don't see why the Marlins need 10 relievers. Ramos, Capps, Marmol, Caminero, and Koehler, with a slew of strong lefties and guys like Wittigren, DeScalfani, and Urena coming soon is a pretty nice depth chart sans Cishek. Baker/Marmol salary is about what Cishek is making too. I'm just saying, if Stephen Drew resigns in Boston, there are no AB for Middlebrooks as Boegarts is going to play and Cishek makes a lot of sense on that team (considering he has 4 years of control). I'm not sold on Middlebrooks, but at the same time, gambling on power is never a bad thing. Inversely, Boston's bullpen would be amazing. Kind of a win-win.

I like it; especially for one year.. I know he is a heart attack inducing closer but he might benefit from a new environment and a pitchers park. Plus he's not closer.

I don't really get it as we have a pretty good crop of relievers already with some depth in the minors. also I can't stand him.

I feel like the plan is to pick up a few of these guys in hopes of flipping them at the deadline and turn nothing into something. At the same time, they get to keep their younger guys down and save on arbitration time.

It's not a big risk, but he's always walked too many batters, and the org has a lot of younger relief-type guys that they could put out there instead.

I hope Ramos is the setup man
