Big East is rather unimpressive, eh? 1. Louisville LOST in the round of 64 to #13 seed Morehead State. 2. Pitt, a #1 seed, LOST in the round of 32 to #8 seed Butler. 3. Georgetown LOST in the round of 64 to a #11 seed Virginia Commonwealth. 4. Saint Johns LOST in the round of 64 to a #11 seed Gonzaga. 5. Villanova LOST to #9 seed George Mason in the round of 64. 6. West Virginia LOST to Kentucky in the round of 32. 7. Cincinnati LOST to UConn in the round of 32. 8. Connecticut advanced to the Sweet 16. 9/10. Marquette will play Syracuse in the round of 32 - one will go to the Sweet 16, one will be knocked out. 11. Notre Dame will play in the round of 32 today. So, at best, there will be 3 Big East teams in the sweet 16, which wouldn't seem awful given that 11/64 ~ 1/6th of the team,s and 3/16 > 1/6. But considering it was supposed to be full of powerhouses, this has been a mediocre showing at best, including 4 first-round exits, all of which came against non-BCS schools.
