Mickey Mantis
Ya...Brad Hand kinda sucks. I've never been a fan of his. Makes me miss Jacob Turner a whole lot.
Bret Hart
Jones and Dobbs are still awful. Hand should go down to bullpen.

Jay Ram
Ya...Brad Hand kinda sucks. I've never been a fan of his. Makes me miss Jacob Turner a whole lot. Turner sucks. This pitching staff was overrated coming into the year.
Admin
Things took a turn for the worst when ... started that indirectly Loria loving thread about the Marlins being fun to watch. And they are fun to watch. Scrappy. Never give up. Some timely hits. An actual offense. Great pitching. Should make for a fun year. Talk about speaking too soon... canada-marlin24
Never really liked Hand much either. His stuff and control has been much better but it was clear he seems more effective out of pen. This is become a total shit show. As each season usually becomes at some point. Hard to believe where we were last week and now.
canada-marlin24
Jones and Dobbs are still awful. Hand should go down to bullpen. Relax on Jones. Dobbs, I agree. He just looks like he cant catch up anymore.

dim
That 5.88 ERA this season from starting pitchers is lethal. If the starting pitching never gets going, this team is in for a rough, rough, rough season.

...
They're still fun to watch. Pitching had a rough week, defense has some rough days, but they still manage to hit a bit. Yelich, Dietrich, Ozuna, Hech and Stanton are doing well, and Jones isn't worse than LoMo. McGehee and Salty are improvements. Even Johnson is respectable. Baker sucks, but he's the only (more-or-less, probably less as we go along) starter under .700 OPS. Dobbs should be released and Solano should be sent down. If they manage to get close to last year's 14-41 they won't be much fun to watch -- ~.250 ball ain't much fun no matter how you slice it up -- but that possibility is 41 games away. Meanwhile, they have an actual offense, at least league-average. Not a great offense, but not no offense like last year. So, Penquino can bite me. :lol
DcFishFan
Thanks ... You can always be counted on for unintentional comedy.
...
DCFishFan. The guy who hates facts. Doesn't matter whether they're about Loria and the financials or the current team. The only thing comedic here is your constant knee-jerk, drooling hatred and vitriol. Give it a rest. The team is here to stay. They ain't perfect, they'll never be and no team is. But, it beats the living daylights out of no team.
...
This is right now. The offense wont be this "good" later on. Who knows? Yelich can hit, although I wish he'd figure out how to exist with his mouth closed. Dietrich can hit, with some pop. Same for Ozuna. Hech seems to have figured a few things out -- .327 leads the team with 55 ABs, so he's doing something right beyond having random good luck. If anything, he's had bad luck, hitting a ton of balls very hard for outs. Jones is just duplicating what LoMo might have done. McGehee and Salty are both improvements and likely to hit at least close to what they've been doing. Stanton is Stanton. It's a league-average offense, maybe a little better than average. There are no gaping holes other than when Baker starts. There's no particular reason to expect the offense to decline. The 5 young guys might actually get better. Erick
This is not a league-average offense. That's absurd. The only positive thing is that the pitching staff isn't as bad as it's been and Heaney will probably come up at some point this year to improve it some more. Admin
This "league average" offense is currently dead last in the National League in runs, home runs, doubles, batting average, on base %, and SLG %.
Erick
This "league average" offense is currently dead last in the National League in runs, home runs, doubles, batting average, on base %, and SLG %. That's actually not true (yet).
Admin
I just looked it up on MLB.com. 15th out of 15 in all of those categories.
Erick
I just looked it up on MLB.com. 15th out of 15 in all of those categories. You looked at it wrong. In the NL, the offense is currently tied for 5th in runs scored, 4th in .OBP, 8th in .SLG, and 7th in .OPS. They're not last in any of the categories you mentioned. I'm not sure what you're looking at. With that said, the numbers are just a product of an unsustainable first six games so it'll revert back to being one of the worst offenses in baseball by the end of the season. As a matter of fact, they've already played the part during this 8-game losing streak.
...
Absurd? Best in MLB is WSH at .821 OPS. Followed by CWS, COL, PHL, NYY, LAA, SFG, LAD and ATL. 10th? MIA: .732. NL average: .722. MLB average: .711. Not absurd at all. Not great. But league-average or a little better. You know, an actual offense. May get better or worse, but it won't be non-existent. Like last year at .627. 513 runs.
Admin
you are right, i had clicked on 2013 by mistake. My bad. I expect them to be pretty even with their 2013 #s by the end of the year though.
