Alrighty Marlins fans the future is here! I went to Tyler Kolek debut game, here's the breakdown.
Kolek was the starting pitcher for the GCL Marlins, facing 7 batters over two innings. He struck out the very first batter he faced on four pitches, walked the next guy who would get thrown out stealing, the next two batters got hits (hitting the ball well) but the lead runner got thrown out when he missed the stop sign. In the second he went three up and three down all on ground balls. Overall I had him throwing 32 pitches with 21 for strikes, his fastest pitch clocked in at 97 mph. Wayne Rosenthal was in attendance, but no Marlin execs were there unlike Heaney made his debut two years ago. First look at this years other draftees: Justin Twine appears to be having a hard time adjusting to the wood bays, played well in the field. Blake Anderson, catcher has some skinny legs! I hope they hold up to the rigors of catching, he had a couple of good AB's drawing a walk and hit a line drive the third baseman jumped and caught to rob him. The only player that hit the ball really well was 8th rounder Stone Garrett, he tallied 3 of the teams 7 hits.
