Salty is Salty. (Jarrod Saltalamacchia Benched by Miami Marlins)

Recommended Posts

Is it too soon to come in here and have Saltys back? Look, I know he sucks and I want him benched too. I'm not saying put him back in the starting lineup... But I'm happy with his reactions... I'm glad he's mad. I'd be upset if he was ok with being benched. He's a good dude and a competitor. None of that means a thing on the field especially if he's not producing but ya know, let the man be.

That was a pretty professional way to put it. Don't know what else you want from the guy other to actually hit and play defense.

I honestly have no idea how that can be construed as unprofessional. He's a baseball player who has started most of his career. Of course he should be mad that he isn't starting, but he didn't trash anybody and said he won't be a distraction. That's all you can ask of him.

I agree with dimmer switch here.

He did and said the right thing here. He's mad, yes, and not surprisingly, but he has nobody to blame but himself. He also said he'd do what he could as far as helping Realmuto with the Major League experience, and I like that.

I just hope he's taking it the way it's intended to be taken: as constructive and probably a warning. Sure, he's going to be mad, but openly stating it was a little brash in my opinion. But who really knows if he'll stop stinking!  :wacko

Even Mike fn Redmond has to see how Salty played himself to a permanent bench role tonight. His three atrocious throws to Morse had to have sealed the deal. Red going with Ichiro in the ninth when it was still like a three run game and he could have let Salty hit and just waited two more batters to bring in Ichiro said a lot to me. Saltys days are numbered here.

And I even liked his signing. Not because I believed he could repeat his 2013 numbers but because I swore that even if he regressed he'd be an upgrade over the Mathis and Brantly combo. I also didn't think his contract was that much of an overpay to finally have some stability at the catching position. Think about it, $21 million for a three year upgrade over Mathis and Brantly didn't sound so bad to me. I had no clue he'd be this unproductive, or even counterproductive if u think about it. Ugh.
