1B Sanchez/Jimenez Platoon (Jimenez getting about 50 percent of the starts vs rhp, Gaby gets 50 percent vs lhp then Bonifacio will get the rest of the time playing 3B and Cantu at 1st)

JJ2 gets 50 vs RHP + Emilio 50% vs RHP equals 100 percent, Gaby wil get give or take 30 percent of that to so lets change that to JJ2 50%, Gaby 30% Emilio 20% = 100% Vs LHP Gaby Gets 50 Emilio gets 50 =100

Oh, I see what you mean now. A little too much Emilio for my liking, though.

My thoughts: Johnson, Nolasco and pray for rain. I see you all have Pinto in the Marlins bullpen. That is JUST NOT RIGHT. I don't care who is in the bullpen as long as Pinto is not one of them.

All I know is that Seth McClung will be a major bullpen contributor.

Unless he gets traded, he's going to be in our bullpen. He's an MLB bullpen arm too for all the sh*t he gets. If you dislike Pinto, you're going to dislike our entire bullpen because everyone Beinfest signed this offseason is exactly like Pinto. Walks galore.

But they throw hard which is almost as important as a players speed, just look at Boni.

I kinda figure every team has a guy like Pinto in the pen. When hes on hes great but when hes off look out.

I'm going to go with:

Starting Lineups
C-Baker/Paulino
1B-Gaby
2B-Uggla
3B-Cantu
SS-Hanley
LF-Coghlan
CF-Maybin
RF-Cody

Bench
Util-Bonifacio
1B/3B-Helms (late inning defensive replacement at 3B, with Cantu switching over to 1B, like last year)
OF-Carroll
1B/3B-Jimenez (LH pinch-hitter off the bench)

Starting Pitching
JJ
Nolasco
Anibal
Volstad
Miller
(West & VandenHurk start the year in the minors)

Bullpen
Closer - Leo
Meyer
Pinto (anyone still think Pinto gets traded?)
MacDougal
Turnbow
Badenhop
Sanches

Still think all the position players are right on.

Seems like I was wrong on the pitchers, though. As of March 17th, things have changed. Turnbow retired, so scratch him, I guess. Probably put McClung in there (Veres is a candidate for a pen spot, too). As far as the starting pitching, seems like Volstad isn't going to make it, and VandenHurk has a better chance based on performance this Spring, imo. Also, Penn/Hensley have outpitched Miller this Spring, but I'm not sure if Miller will get in just based on the fact that he's a lefty. He didn't pitch badly today, but Hensley has been great, and Penn has been great, too...+ I believe Hayden Penn is out of options.

I think I take offense to calling Penn's performance thus far great.

Not a fan of a guy who strikes out 2 in 8 innings and calls it a success. From what I recall, Hayden Penn's not exactly a groundball machine. I think he's due for a blowup.

Not sure what his exact statistics are in terms of GB/FB, but I do know that out of the 10 outs he recorded in his last outing, only 1 was a flyball out. 8 were groundouts.

Well, that's certainly impressive, but I see his success being very difficult to sustain.

As a bullpen arm, he might be passable, but I'd put him around 7th on our starting pitching depth chart even with Volstad and RVH's struggles.

Right now I'd say Hensley will definitely make the team. I think Penn will make it to if he continues to play the way he has. RVH will be sent down (odd man out). Miller is going to take the 5th spot because we need a lefty in the rotation. I think Hensley could take over Anibal's spot if he falters.
