The 2nd weekly installment of Spring Training games begins tomorrow with a split squad day for the Marlins, facing the Mets and the Nationals.

Among those facing the Mets in Jupiter - Hanley Ramirez, Gaby Sanchez, Wes Helms, Brett Carroll, Jai Miller, Scott Cousins and Brad Davis.

Ryan Tucker will be the starting pitcher.

Among those facing the Nats in Viera - Jorge Cantu, Emilio Bonifacio, Matt Dominguez, Logan Morrison, Hector Luna, Chris Coghlan, Bryan Peterson and Mike Stanton. Cameron Maybin was meant to join them but is taking a few days off after the hopefully minor injury he suffered today.

Ricky Nolasco will be the starting pitcher.

Wow, not so hot outings by McClung and Morrison.

So we beat the Nats 11-2 but lost to the Mets by the same score.

Some notable stats:

Against the Nats - Stanton was 3-5 with a 2B and 3 runs scored, Cantu hit a 3 run HR off Scott Olsen, Paulino was 4-4, Bonifacio was 2-4 with 3 RBI, Nolasco 3 IP 4 H 1 ER 0 BB 5 K, Badenhop and Tankersley each threw a scoreless inning.

Against the Mets - Gaby Sanchez was 2-4 with a 2B, Hanley was 1-3 with a 2B and nothing much else to report from the hitters. Starter Ryan Tucker 2IP 2H 2R 1ER 3BB 1K. Jose Veras and Dan Meyer each threw a scoreless inning and Cristhian Martinez had 2 scoreless innings. Seth McClung had a stinker 0.2IP 2H 6ER 3BB 1K 1HR. Uggla had 2 errors, both on the same play.

I think Morrison was trying to do much in camp. It's exactly same situation with last year's Gaby.
I wish Morrison would not fall apart this battle, weakly.

Also I expect Hensley & Petersen can make a team in 2010, even though they'll start a season in New Orleans.

Not liking what I'm seeing from the Anibal. Rough outing. This could end up being another long year if are starters falter again. Can we count on Nolasco to give us a whole GOOD year? If we want to even come close to doing anything, JJ and Ricky need to be pretty dominant all year and HOPE we get some decent starts from the rest every once and awhile.

Yeh RVH pitched 3 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 2

So what did every one think of Strasburg's debut? While I know it's only spring training and for the most part the pitchers are usually ahead of the hitters early on; I saw Strasburg make Miggy look silly.

I know it's the second spring outing for him but Anibal's control is already starting to concern.

Stanton hit his 2nd HR of the Spring in the first inning of today's game against the Astros. A 2 run shot off Wandy Rodriguez. Uggla followed up with a solo shot.

3-0 Marlins after 2

6-0 Marlins in the middle of the 3rd.

Coghlan and Uggla both had doubles in that inning. Stanton, Uggla and Helms with the RBI's. 2 of the 3 runs were unearned.

Hayden Penn so far has thrown 2 innings without giving up a hit or walk, with 1 K.

is there any chance stanton makes the team if he continues this impressive little run he's had so far in spring?

They seem so careful with him. I think a mid season call up is more likely.

Let's see if he can dominate Double A first.

12-0 now, Coghlan with a triple and 4 RBIs in the game.

Id say it's pretty much almost in concrete that he wont open with the ML team. Unless he maybe pulles a Griffey Jr. and just absolutely makes it impossible for them to send him down by just dominating the rest of ST.
