What needs to change for next year?
What i would do is this: trade uggla, cantu, hermida, proctor, amezaga, anibal for ml-ready SP resign Johnson for 1yr 4.5mil, possibly a 2yr 9mil Roster Breakdown: 1. C Baker $415,000 2. 1B Johnson $4,500,000 3. 2B Coghlan $405,000 4. SS Hanley $7,000,000 5. 3B Sanchez $405,000 6. RF Carroll $415,000 7. CF Maybin $405,000 8. LF Ross $4,200,000 9. B Paulino $880,000 10. B Helms $950,000 11. B Bonifacio $415,000 12. B Cousins/Raynor $405,000 13. B "Veteran"* $750,000 1. SP Johnson $5,600,000 2. SP Nolasco $4,250,000 3. SP Miller $2,000,000 4. SP Volstad $415,000 5. SP West $405,000 6. RP Nunez $1,600,000 7. RP RVH $415,000 8. RP Badenhop $415,000 9. RP Meyer $415,000 10. RP Pinto $850,000 11. RP Lindstrom $1,600,000 12. RP Sanches $415,000 *ross gload mold, 1st/3rd/lf rhp masher Total: 39.5 mil when morrison is ready, or no longer a candidate for super 2 status, call him up and put him in lf Lineup: 1. Maybin CF 2. Coghlan 2nd 3. NJ/Hanley 1st/SS 4. Hanley/NJ SS/1st 5. Baker C 6. Ross LF 7. Sanchez 3rd 8. Carroll RF 9. JJ P other option is to trade nunez or stormy, because the bullpen is loaded, and my projected roster already has leroux and wood in AAA, and there others like tucker, carlos mart, ceda, and tank that can get healthy and be ready for the ml soon.

Where Coghlan ranks as ROY? article
also should be noted that Chris is playing well, under tough condition. He never played left field or bat leadoff, before this season, and has done a wonderful job.

Where do you see us going from here?
the golden number to reach is 90games. right now the marlins 59-53 so in the remaining 50 games they have to go 31-19 or 12 above .500 possible, but i think the marlins need to go on a long winning streak, like 8 straight or 9 out of ten, to have a realistic shot. good news, that long streak is already developing at 4 games

8/8 -- Marlins at Phillies
nice inning from donnelly

8/8 -- Marlins at Phillies
sound like it been a quite unlucky night for the fish

What should we do this offseason?
i think people really disvalue BC's defensive impact. his fielding saves many runs, and that makeup for his slightly-below-average bat

Will the Fish re-sign Nick Johnson?
Logan had a wrist injury this year, and had a bad June trying to overcome it. Those injuries are hard to beat, so his struggles were expected, and his ba dropped but he rebounded in July very well, and now is hitting where he was expected june: .217ba 11bb/9k .325/319/.644 1hr 7rbis july:.313ba 31bb/15k .500/.554/1.054 5hr 20rbis

Fifth Starter
Clay Hensley, who's doing a good jod starting in AAA, could be a option, but it would be on 6 days rest 4-2 3.84era, averages 5 2/3 innings a start 43k/25bb West would have to start on 4 days rest, and i dont really like the idea of throwing our top pitching prospect, out on short rest to be a spot starter, and possible harm his development

Daily Farm Report Thread -- 7/12-7/18
In other news, looks like Rick VandenHurk will slide into Sean West's starter spot. VandenHurk started tonight for Triple-A New Orleans, but he exited after three shutout innings of one-hit ball. That abbreviated outing enables him to start Monday's series opener at San Diego. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_baseball_marlins/2009/07/florida-marlins-too-much-moyer-vandy-to-start-hanley-teaches-hitting.html
