Marlins and Yankees Lock Horns in Spring Training Tie

The Miami Marlins and New York Yankees tied 0-0 on Thursday in Spring Training action.

Ryan Weathers, aiming for a comeback season for Miami, impressed in his 2.2 innings, striking out five while allowing just a hit and a walk. He even reached 99 miles per hour on the radar, a positive sign after a challenging 2023.

The Marlins bullpen continued to dominate after Weathers' exit, silencing the potent Yankees lineup. A combined effort from Austin Roberts, Anthony Bender, Max Meyer, Anthony Maldonado, and Bryan Hoeing kept New York scoreless despite featuring several regulars. Notably, young pitcher Max Meyer, recovering from Tommy John surgery, pitched two scoreless relief innings.

Shortstop Tim Anderson, a recent acquisition by the Marlins, made his debut for the team, going 0-2 with two strikeouts. While his timing seemed off compared to his teammates, there's still plenty of time for him to adjust before the season opener. Overall, the Marlins managed only five hits offensively, with Jon Berti recording the team's sole extra-base hit.

The Marlins will return to action on Friday, traveling to take on the Phillies at 1:05 PM. Left-hander Jesus Luzardo will be on the mound for Miami in that contest.
