Burger Flips the Script on Yankees

Jake Burger's mighty swing propelled the Miami Marlins to a surprising 5-2 upset over the New York Yankees on Wednesday.

Burger's third homer of the season – a three-run moonshot in the third – gave Miami a big lead they wouldn't relinquish. Burger sizzles with a team-leading 15 RBIs, currently tied for most in the majors alongside Teoscar Hernandez and Spencer Steer.

Ryan Weathers earned the win with a dominant five-shutout-inning performance. Weathers struck out one, walked three, and allowed just three hits, improving his record to 1-1. He's been a dependable arm for Miami, lowering his ERA to a stellar 2.57.

Tanner Scott secured his first save, but it wasn't without sweat. He walked three and surrendered a hit in 1.2 innings. Scott's control needs work, having walked nine batters in just 5.2 innings this season.

The Marlins will enjoy a day off before returning home on Friday to open a series against the Atlanta Braves. Trevor Rogers gets the ball for Miami in that matchup.
