Scott Blows Save in Crushing Loss

The Miami Marlins were on the cusp of a series win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, but a late collapse saw them fall 9-7. Closer Tanner Scott surrendered a game-winning home run to Marcell Ozuna in the ninth, blowing his first save of the season. Scott has struggled overall this year, now sitting at 0-3.

Ozuna launched a three-run homer on a pitch that was not bad, but may have been too predictable. The Marlins, however, had shown offensive life earlier in the game. They pounded out nine hits, with Bryan De La Cruz and Nick Gordon each blasting a home run. De La Cruz even enjoyed a multi-hit performance for the second consecutive game.

Doubles from Josh Bell (2), Jazz Chisholm, Jr. (3), and Vidal Brujan (1) further bolstered the Miami offense. However, starter Jesus Luzardo's struggles continued. He allowed five runs in five innings and owns a concerning 7.65 ERA, one of the worst among qualified starters in MLB.

The Marlins look to bounce back as they begin a series with the San Francisco Giants on Monday at 6:40 p.m.
