Having been at the game on sunday, what a fun time...hadn't been to the stadium in over 2 years (since my dad passed) but had a great time and the team looked good against a great pitcher, and Sandy pitched a GEM....will be back soon to the park with my kiddos.

Only Urena is tradeable right now. I can't believe anyone thinks it's ok to trade any of the other starters right now. We finally have SP depth you keep all of it to see which ones become part of the future here. No way you give up on any of them now. Why is this even a question considering our past? Castillo and Paddack show that you don't sacrifice prospects for quick fixes... Brad Hand and Andrew Miller show that you don't give up struggling major leaguers... The bats will come in other ways. With all the pitching being accumulated they can focus on bats in the next few drafts, there's still international free agents, you can sign in free agency when the time is right, some of the minor leaguer bats will pan out eventually, and lastly if more of the pitchers pan out than expected than you can ultimately trade from that depth but not yet. No way Jose.

It says that both of those teams have a worse run differential than the Marlins. Do you not read your own posts?

Well I imagine at least one of the two teams will get a victory.

I really wish they'd let Granderson go. Nobody is going to trade for him. They did the right thing by picking some vets in the offseason in hopes of maybe flipping them at the deadline but that experiment failed this year. Time to jettison the dead weight and let some other guys play. I highly doubt they'll be any worse. Don't care if they're career minor leaguers. Just put some new blood in there and see what happens. You could literally have a new outfield of guys batting .210 and it would likely be an upgrade as mind boggling as that is to say.

Our offense beat Jacob DeGrom. Tell our AAA team to suck it.

I watch the team, you're the only one that follows them.

I mean. they were the good half..... And we literally had half a team (good offense, bad pitching).
  18. 3 points
Was Jeter the CEO there too?
  19. 3 points
Such meaningless records too. It's cuz they have nothing else to write about. Yeah we suck we get it. None of this matters if they get it right in the end. Tell me what bad stats the Astros had from 2011-2013 and then I'll show you a picture of their world series parade.

Marlins social media has been taking the light hearted approach lately, I kinda like it. Here's last night's game recap... Also in their comments, someone trying to be smart with them posted "It must suck to be walked off two nights in a row" and they responded with "Well yeah did you think it would be fun?"

Actually sir, that is pretty much the definition of consistency!

I think I made my stance on Jeter and the rebuild very clear when it all started going down 2 off seasons ago. #FuckJeter With that said, I'm getting tired of the media and scorned fans piling on the Marlins. I will never agree that this was the only path. However, it's a done deal. Whether I like it or not, this is the path Jeter chose. As a Marlin fan, I have to hope he succeeds and that the Marlins succeed. I'm going to root for the young guys and hope this FO figures it out. Whether we got back enough on the trades is irrelevant at this point. The important thing is that they develop to their full potential the pieces we got back. It's important that they draft well going forward and that they spend money on IFA. So far they are showing a willingness to do so and that's all I can ask. Is Jeter a giant douche bag? From what I've read, Yes. Is Denbo a bigger douche bag, again, probably so. However, you can't argue with the amount of young talent he put together with the Yankees. Let's see how his 1st draft class pans out. Let's see how his 1st IFA class pans out. Let's keep an open mind and realize that both Denbo and Jeter have a proven track records as winners. Let's root for our young players to develop into new stars. Let's hope we already have the next Yelich, Stanton, Ozuna, Fernandez, J T, etc. Let's root for these douche bags to ge it right. If they don't, well, let's just hope they do. #FuckRosenthal #FuckHisStupidBowTie #FuckTheNaySayers #OurDoucheBags #FuckTheNegativity #JustFuck #I'mAnOptimisticFuck Rant over... Bring up Harold, Dean, and Brigham. Release Herrera, Demote Conley, Demote Galloway. #FuckChen Leave Gallen and Hernandez until we have a need in the Rotation. Bring up Monte after All Star break. Nite Mates!

I know the doom and gloom is great when the MLB team is 10-24 but 2 things, didn't everyone already know this team was gonna suck tremendously for a few years? Why are we upset about this on a grand scale? Be frustrated when you watch a close game and they blow it with silliness but don't act like you didn't see this coming. Secondly, it sounds like people think THIS Marlins team is supposed to be the team that contends down the line. Look at the roster and think about that... More than half the starting lineup won't be here next season... they might not even be here halfway through the summer. Our playoff hopes are not riding on the backs of Walker Castro Granderson Prado and Rojas. These guys are placeholders for the guys who are developing to be injected into the roster when the time is right. I get it, things look and feel bleak now but sometimes I really think people miss the forest because they're looking at the trees. Feel free to complain about wider range problems with the rebuild at this point... but don't tell me the Marlins will never be good again just because a weak hitting Starlin Castro is batting cleanup in May of 2019. Look at the whole donut, not just the hole in the donut.

I'm on board with that trade as well. As much fun as it was to watch Stanton at times - that contract would have forced the trades of other young guys like Yelich, etc. I kid. Even I was on board with the Stanton trade - I think most of us just didn't like a lot of the other trades that were immediately made that felt forced and/or rushed.
  30. 3 points
For the record no matter what the Marlins got back for Stanton, ridding themselves of that idiotic contract was a coup, so Denbo and the Marlins are 100% right. Even if they never trade Castro and he plays out his entire contract, it was still a fucking coup and saves them what? 220 million if you factor in whatever Castro's money is.

Long Story short: Denbo sabotaged our relationship with Greensboro by being an absolute cocksucker to the team owner Moore about the Bat Dogs. Demanded they be removed by saying after one look at the kennels (paraphrasing) [Get those fucking dogs out here now]. Moore instead choose not to renew contract with Marlins- even after Jeter and Sherman both personally showed up and pretty much begged him to sign an agreement already. He made a decision, Denbo stays, and he leaves. He later signed an agreement with the Pirates, and thats how we ended up in Clinton. Sherman and wife tried to save affiliate deal at end of season, but couldnt. Greensboro guy really didn't like Denbo. Jeter and Sherman both cut scholarship checks in dogs name to try to fix it. Didn't happen. He treats anyone overweight like shit, and fat shames even his scouts. His first meeting with scouts he told them to get in the gym. He now spins this as caring about their health. He doesn't trust anyone outside of his own people and Dan Greenlee. If you contradict him, he pretty much blackballs you. He dismisses opposing opinions and relies strongly on analytics- which is how we lost Austin Nola but 20 team wanted him when he was released. Analytics said he sucked, but it was his first ever year behind the plate. Denbo washed his hands of Nola. He relied on analytics for the Gordon, Stanton, Ozuna and Yelich trades- and that is largely why the deals seems to be failing, although it could be years before we know for sure. Marlins viewed trading Stanton as a coup, and are happy to be rid of the $268MM they owed him. Once saw a Minor Leaguer working out on his own on the back fields of jupiter. Minor Leaguer felt he was being mean mugged. Went to introduce himself and say hi. Denbos says "Do you know who I am". Player responds no, but its a pleasure to meet him. Denbo asks if hes in physical shape, and minor leaguer says he can loose some weight, and he's working on it. Denbo "Good, because if your not in fucking shape you wont be on this team" and leaves. He was cut a month later, and the kid isn't in baseball anymore. Was a Palm Beach Kid too. Refused to draft David Weathers kid because he was a doughy figure, and talked shit to the scout who called him an above average athelete due to him playing basketball. Demanded minor leagues lose weight, which was ok. 35% overweight when they reported last year. This year 5%. Yankees people were happy he was leaving, and they didnt want to resign him. They point to a player he wanted signed that was 5 foot 1. Everyone said no, including GM. He went behind their back and signed the kid to a contract. He did well in single A, but was released, he's out of baseball. Denbo in short : Short tempered, dismissive, narsasistic, perfectionist who believes fat people are disgusting and uses peoples appearance to judge who they are. He's single handily pushed away most of the old staff by being a prick and ended one of the better minor league agreements we had. He's softened up some this year, but he's still an asshole and people are jumping ship. Jeter refused to comment, but Jeter picked Denbo and Greenlee.

Basically says a lot of former employees found him difficult to work with, he doesn’t like to be told he’s wrong, has high standards, and that he has a short fuse. Basically blames a blowup he had in Greensboro about their bat dogs for why they are no longer a Marlins affiliate. He claims he was angry that the dogs were too close to the players food...the Greensboro owner says he wanted the dogs removed. After many words about how bad a person he is, the article did say he’s been better this year with more of his own people. Overall it paints a pretty poor picture of him as a leader. But it also kind of feels like people piling on, given the Marlins current situation and a lot of it is based on former employees opinions.

But the group he was part of was garbage so he really is not in a position to talk down about the current group. He isn't defending them by saying it is difficult, that'd be one thing. He's taking a victory lap and celebrating their problems.

BETTER IDEA! Chen vs Brinson in sim games. One of them can get their confidence back that way, the other gets shot out of a cannon.

Roy Halladay famously started his career poorly and was demoted. He returned after the demotion and became a HOFer. I am not saying Brinson is a Hall of Famer, but demoting him can only help at this point.

My dad and I are so different about the roof. My dad is old school; he feels baseball should be played outside in its natural environment; I like when the roof is closed because when it is somewhat filled, it can get pretty loud. I also feel like it is cool to play baseball inside as not everyone gets a chance to experience that. Imo, The roof should only be open for certain night games; max 20 times a year.

I don’t think he’s being fake as much as he is tired of the pile on of negativity surrounding the organization. He thinks the negativity is unfair to fans who have gone through the last decade of mediocrity followed by tragic loss followed by organizational restructuring. I think Jeter has a specific plan for the team that will lead to sustainable success. That is why I have not criticized him. Loria did not plan for sustainable success. Loria Bad Farm System 27th Overpaying for Stanton without having a good starting rotation after Fernandez Unclear Marketing Message Jeter Much Better Farm System 13th Not overpaying for players except for ones that are stuck on books from Loria Era (Chen etc.) Clear Marketing Message with an improved ballpark
