  1. If the Marlins have the opportunity to sign Villar and they don’t, it’s because they don’t want to spend money. they can spin that all they want but they won’t be fooling anyone.

  2. Sorry, but we can't sign Castellanos because he would block Noted Prospect Lewis Brinson from hitting .180 again

  3. Pick him up. Not even a question. Then pick up Castellanos. All of a sudden, not bad.

  4. They should absolutely snatch up Villar. I have no idea what the Orioles are doing waiving a 4 WAR guy when their offense is already abysmal. But Angelos is notoriously cheap.

  5. Why would we? It's one thing if it's a 1 year experiment like the Dolphins where they cleared the cap space and got the draft picks quick and presumably next year is going to be a radically different team. But year 3 of new ownership after clearing the books and being 1+ year out from the prospects? We all deserve better

  6. I am not saying it is impossible, but I'm in a "Believe it when I see it" mode and I currently see the words from Jeter as empty and an excuse. Hopefully I am wrong about that, I'd love to be wrong about it.

  7. I'm still in a "believe it when I see it" mode, and preparing myself for the inevitable "we tried to sign guys" but only come away with the Grandersons of the world. If there's a guy out there that fits a need that can be part of the longer-term core, you should sign him now and front load it while you have the financial flexibility. Who cares about blocking a prospect. Obviously you don't want to do that at most/all positions, but if you block one or two, who cares? They're not surefire things anyway - we don't have a Harper or Tatis that are consensus top guys. So then, you have 3 options if that prospect becomes that good: 1) you find a spot for him, 2) you trade the guy blocking said prospect for something you need, or 3) trade the prospect for another position of need. It's crazy how much of the payroll Chen is taking up, and how little the payroll is. Gotta pay off that debt.

  8. I still think the "blocking prospects" stuff was just a excuse to not spending money.

  9. This is an excuse and a lame one. A low payroll just got lower. Use the money.

  10. Give me a fucking break. Just preparing for the inevitable of not paying people.
