  1. AWESOMEEEEEE!!! This weekend marks the 10th anniversary since my dad died from cancer... He was a converted Marlins fan (he used to be a Phillies fan!)... He was the first person I called drunk from a bar the minute Josh Beckett tagged Posada in Game 6 of 2003 World Series... Somewhere, he is smiling right now.... GO FISH!!!!

  2. Alright. I'm not ashamed to share this with you guys. I've been on this site for 16 years and change. July 9, 2004. I grew up on this website (explains all the dick jokes). I've gone through tragedies both personal and with you all with Jose. I went through so many seasons of watching this teams with my parents. Strictly my mother from 2010 through 2014 cause my dad had to work further away and stayed with us when he could. But 95% of the time, it was just me and her. Me and her. Yelling for wins. Yelling at losses. Wondering when the next great team was going to be. Jose became our favorite, and how many of us say the same? We lost her in July of 2015 at the age of 53. She battled a whole bunch of things for years and there was a chance she was on the upswing. But with everything going on with her and her life ... it ended up being too much. Her birthday was August 2nd, soon after her passing. Of course, as fate would have it. Jose pitched that game. We won on a Hech walk-off homer. After those final outs tonight, I was thinking about so much. And finally after about 30 minutes, I got quiet, thought for a bit strictly about the games with her. Everything we went through together over the years, again both personal and with the Marlins. I just broke down. I haven't stopped for about 30, 40 minutes, I don't know how long it's been. I cannot tell you all what I would give to have her here with us watching this playoff run now. Even if it ends up being just two games. I love all of you. The ones who have been here from the start to the new ones. The ones I've had all friendly discourse with, disagreements, even crazy arguments. All of you. We are all part of this Marlins family together. And thank you for being part of my life. ❤️ Juntos Miami. Let's get it.

  3. I know I've been a cameo here from time to time in the last 7 years or so after spending every night on this board for a long time but I fucking love all of you. All the guys who spent thousands of game day posts with me when Loria was fucking this team over and over.

  4. Its been a long time coming gentlemen and ladies. It is September and we are in the playoff race. I know some of you are unaware of how things work, but let me give you a primer: It is nearly playoff season. The Marlins are in the thick of the hunt. The time is upon us to go No Limit for the Marlins in our quest for Pennant #3, World Series trophy #3. It's time to put aside all our differences, put aside all the bullshit and the infighting and unite for a common cause. You MUST go NO LIMIT in your support of the Marlins basball team. Grab your good luck charms, grab your old dingy hats, your old dingy jerseys, or tshirts. Dust them off. Put that sweat stained or beer stained 2003 championship gear on and saddle up boys (and girls). I implore you.... grab your left nut (or your left ovary) and let out a primal scream. There is no looking back. The train is leaving the station and I need all Marlin fans on this train, I NEED the Marlins No LImit Army to be ready to roll as we move into October and do what only we can do. Be victorious. Unlike any other franchise, October means victory. October means conquest. It is time boys and girls. It has been a long time coming. Grab that nut (or ovary) as hard as you can, squeeze until it hurts, and let out that primal yell in support of this baseball club. Its No Limit time. It's Go Time!

  7. Maybe I'm just super excited right now but that may have literally been the biggest Marlins win since 2003. Epic comeback. This hopefully gives them the confidence boost they need to maintain some momentum for a while because it sure feels like we're one good hot streak away from essentially locking in a playoff spot.

  10. Of course I know that these are two completely different teams and seasons. 2003 was a very special year and team that was put together. I'm not saying I think the Marlins will win it all this year, but I have noticed some interesting comparisons between the two seasons so far: Marlins lose in an absolute record-setting blowout loss: June 27, 2003-Marlins lose to Boston 25-8 September 9, 2020-Marlins lose to Braves 29-9 Marlins win by one run the following night after the blowout loss in a come from behind win, scoring the runs in the 8th and 9th innings: June 28, 2003-Marlins beat Boston 10-9 scoring 8 runs in the 8th and 9th innings in a come from behind win. September 10, 2020-Marlins beat Phillies 7-6 scoring 4 runs in the 8th and 9th innings in a come from behind win. Big impact pitcher called up midway during the season and instantly becomes Rookie of the year candidate: 2003-Dontrelle Willis 2020-Sixto Sanchez Young power hitting infielder in Marlins system gets called up and a chance at playing everyday in the big leagues and gets some big hits: 2003 - Miguel Cabrera 2020 - Jazz Chisholm (Of course, way too early to compare Cabrera and Jazz, but still interesting how both young IFs got a chance in the middle of the season when the team started the year with the positions filled.) Marlins acquire player at trade deadline that makes big impact down the stretch: 2003-Ugeth Urbina 2020-Starling Marte Marlins acquire player with last name of Conine on August 31st: 2003 - Jeff Conine 2020 - Griffin Conine Marlins have Todd Hollandsworth on the team in some capacity: 2003 - Left Field 2020 - Broadcast booth. 😂

  12. Just wondering, at what point does the media start treating him like Jeffrey Loria? Seems like having Derek Jeter as the face of the organization and then having the first female GM ever has hidden the fact that Sherman hasn’t spent any money at all. As of right now, it seems like the plan is to add a controllable CF’er by trading one of our pitching prospects. That’s fine, hopefully it works. But it also makes me wonder why won’t we just spend the money on a CF’er and not trade any of the pitching depth at all? Don’t we have a new TV deal? New naming rights for the stadium? There is currently one guaranteed contract on the team next season that the organization has spent money on in free agency — and it’s Anthony Bass. Yet no rumors of going out and spending on a couple of proven hitters which is what the team seemingly needs to be competitive, and perhaps win the division next season. When is Sherman going to be held accountable? Derek Jeter, Kim Ng, and Don Mattingly have received their fair share of criticism. Where is Sherman, the guy who actually is responsible for spending?

  13. I also want to clarify my stance on Ronald's injury - do I want him to die or never play baseball again? Nope. I'm not that much of a monster. Do I honestly care he suffered an awful injury? Also nope. I love guys who clearly have fun while playing. I don't mind giant bat flips or guys yelling/shouting for getting a hit or a key strikeout. I love all those little nuances that define a player. I DO draw the line though with guys who CONSISTENTLY crowd the plate so if you pitch inside it is either a strike or you hit the guy and then glare at the pitcher when they get plunked on some body armor while waiting for a teammate or someone to come over and have to pretend restrain him from charging the mound. It's childish, stupid, and you look like a fucking moron and whiny bitch every time. Keep your bat flips, keep your fist pumps and shouts over a single (if that's your thing), celebrate wildly with your teammates and clown around a bit with them even - but don't act all fucking hard every time you get hit. You ain't the biggest badass and if you're in Miami, you never know when Gaby's forearm might appear out of nowhere if you charge the mound. I sincerely hope this brings him some goddam humility and he returns a different player and we'll get back to hating him for just being insanely talented and getting hits off us. Will it though? I have my doubts. See you next year Ronald, the Braves (k)need you.

  14. My wife gives me this T-shirt after this game, I'm really shocked to see the pattern in it, my wife was never watch the baseball and also didn't know the meaning of "FLORIDA ", she bought this T-shirt just because of the discount. It's designed in the America and produced in the Mexico so it's highly related to the Marlins and I believe it means something that my wife gives me it after our fourth straight win. Most important of all, it's my first clothes with the pattern of Florida and Miami.

  15. Here are the top Spring Training competitions for the Marlins: Starting 2B: Isan Díaz vs Jazz Chisholm 5th SP: Trevor Rogers vs Nick Neidert vs Daniel Castano 4th OF spot (Coop and Berti are considered IF): Magneuris Sierra vs Lewis Brinson I will update the thread after every game with the stats of each player as well as if any other competitions start or if any wild cards emerge.

  16. Something different about this new ownership and Loria/Hill. We now acquire bullpen pitchers who throw strikes rather than getting guys just because they throw hard. That’s something that I like.

  17. Wow. This is cool. Also, this is absolutely not a hire for the sake of saying they got the first female GM, she has legitimate baseball credentials so that is important. This is not just a PR move.

  22. MAN YOUR FUCKING BATTLESTATIONS! MAN YOUR FUCKING BATTLESTATIONS. The time is upon us men (and women). If you have been grabbing that left nut (or ovary) already as a true fan and as a part of this NO LIMIT Army of Marlin fans, I thank you for your loyalty and service. I need you to keep grabbing that left nut (or ovary), just a little harder now. You see, its do or die time. It's the time that will determine if we have a chance to take this battle field or if we will go down fighting like a champion! If you have not been all aboard, this is just about the last stop on this train to hop aboard and be a part of the NO LIMIT Marlins army. I need you to grab that fucking left nut (or ovary), let out that fucking primal growl, the one that comes from deep deep down inside your body and let all know who you stand for. Let people know you will not go down. Let people know you intend to be here at the end of the day, waving that flag high as you look out over the battlefield at the fallen armies laid in your haste. I need, and I implore you to get in and get on. The final battles approach us and we must be mindful of time as it is running short. Give it all you have, no holding back. For you see Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood (and womanhood) and is the essence of being part of this Marlins NO LIMIT ARMY! Its NO LIMIT time. It's time to charge to our destiny!!!! How bout you!

  23. Been lurking on this website (previously under a slightly different username) since 2003. Fan since the very beginning. During the season, I’m here reading posts and staying updated multiple times a day. No one I talk to on a daily basis cares about baseball, let alone the Marlins, so my Fish family is a pretty small circle consisting of my dad and the people here. To those of you who take the time to post news, insights, and reactions to this team we love so much, thank you. You’re a big part of my day and a huge reason why I’m so into the Marlins.

  25. Gentlemen (and Ladies), The battle has not stopped, the field is not cleared yet and our flag is not the one flying high (yet). I implore all of you to saddle up and be prepared for this long and courageous fight. We must continue to go No Limit, your support on this quest for the playoffs is needed and appreciated. Look at what going No Limit has done, our spot in the tournament looks secure, but by no means is it safe! We must continue to pursue the enemy, cheer on this young, scrappy, hungry team and push them into the playoffs! In times like these, we have to look at what we know. What we know is that deep down we have the knowledge of finishing a war is like. Let's rekindle those emotions, grab that left nut (or ovary) as each skirmish wages on and don't let up. As we deeper into the trenches, it will be time to squeeze a little harder, let out a deeper primal roar. Find that good luck charm. Wear that old hat, that ratty tshirt, that special bobblehead, those rosary beads, whatever it is, use it. They still exist. They have worked before. They will work again. The Fight is only beginning gentlemen (and ladies). I cannot have you back off as of yet. I cannot have you let off the gas. I need you to push harder. Make this team feel like fans are in the ballpark from afar. Watch those games, break the ratings machines. It's time to show the world what this No Limit Army is capable of once again. We have been dormant for far too long. It is time to rectify that situation. Saddle up. Nut up. Grab that left nut (or ovary) and let's keep on fighting this fight. Let's see if we can taste that sweet taste of victory yet again, smell that sweet smell of the battlefield after you are victorious. Are you with me?

  30. This. I know some fans are happy moving the goalposts every year and saying "just wait" and "trust the process" and stuff like that, but I'm done waiting to see the ownership actually try. We can't just eternally wait for prospects and more prospects. The front office has to know when to add via free agency and that time is this off-season.

  31. They're not going to treat him like Loria because he's hands off. He may not have spent much money (yet?), but he's not cheap while also meddling in deals, making his own deals, going over the FO's head, etc. So for that alone, he won't get treated like Loria. While I'm sure he gives Jeter a budget range, I also think it goes the other way too - Jeter says "we can spend this amount, is that ok?" - while also being financially responsible. Remember Jeter has contract incentives if the team is profitable, so it's in his interest to keep the budget within reason too. While I think they should've signed more pieces last offseason in a down market after the pandemic, I also understand them being cautious finance wise after no revenues or revenue sharing after last season. And with the naming rights and TV deals coming to the wire before this season started, it's possible they simply didn't have that infusion of funds in time enough to actually spend - and they didn't want to without know about those contracts. I'm not excusing their lack of spending completely, I'm just understanding why things have been done so far after last season, and it does sound like they're trying to extend guys. That said, with Chen off the books and the TV/naming deals now, if they don't throw out some extensions and sign a big guy or two this offseason, it's going to be hard to follow them regularly anymore. The excuses are gone for me.

  33. -Korey Lee is the most interesting guy because he's a catcher which I would really like, but he's also in A ball at the moment. -Nolan Jones currently has a 36.6% K rate in AAA. -Jake Scheiner is a 25-year-old in AA with a 34.1% K rate. -Greg Jones is a 23-year-old in A ball with a 29.1% K rate. And then there's Florial who, as you already mentioned, is another toolsy prospect with a lot of swing-and-miss in his game. We have these kind of players in the system already. If paying one player = "fantasy land," the discussion is irrelevant anyway. Is the organization ever going to spend money? Next season, the Marlins project to have, arguably, the best rotation in all of baseball. It's quite possible. Sandy Alcantara, Pablo Lopez, and Trevor Rogers have proven themselves. Then you can pick 2 from Elieser/Poteet/Sixto/Cabrera/Meyer/Eder. The majority of teams wish they had that type of pitching depth heading into next season. A real organization supports that controllable pitching staff by signing players like Starling Marte. This team is currently committed to not one single player long-term on the payroll. They can't commit to one player who has had a consistent career, currently putting up elite numbers, and apparently wants to be here?

  34. I don’t mind being 5-7 after the 1-6 start. Beat DeGrom and took 3 of 4 in Atlanta. Hopefully they start playing/hitting better at home. I don’t want to see Acuña again for a long time.

  37. Can I just gush about how good the rotation is looking over the next couple of years? 1. Sixto Sanchez 2. Sandy Alcantara 3. Max Meyer 4. Edward Cabrera 5. Pablo Lopez The rest: Trevor Rogers -- Top 100 Prospect Braxton Garrett -- Former Top 100 Prospect Eliezer Hernandez -- Looked great at times last year Nick Neidert That's like 4 guys with ace potential + Pablo + 2 Top 100 prospects + a couple more arms with big league starter potential. Wow.

  38. While I was happy the Marlins made playoffs in 2020, it comes with a mixed bag. The Covid pandemic made it difficult for many of our young prospects to get valuable playing time while some of them were painfully rushed up to fill a roster spot. Now that playoffs have been made, there is the expectation of "load up on free agents" and "spend spend spend". The Marlins can't do that just yet, not when there are so many kids close to the majors that still need to be assessed. I admit, I'd like to see us get some of those big names that are now off the boards, but it's not the Marlins time yet (but soon!). Getting a lot of big names is only going to block a lot of these guys. 2021 should be the final year of playing the kids and really putting together the core foundation to build around. The fish might not make playoffs this year, but I see the 2021 season as taking one step back to take two big steps forward later. There is a plan in place. Why change it due to early success when the team is close to having a good young core for a long long time. Be patient. This team is close, just not yet.

  40. Well, thanks to the Marlins for a fun ride in the 2020 season! It definitely had it’s ups and downs and share of frustrating moments(citrus series, 29-9 loss, Red Sox series, just to name a few out of many) but it also had some really fun moments like the comeback win vs the Phillies, Sixto’s first few starts, BA’s three HR game, the 7-1 start to the season, and many more! This was definitely a memorable season for me for sure, it’s moved pretty high up on the list on my list of personal favorite Marlins seasons so far! It was such a great feeling seeing the Marlins in a playoff chase and making the playoffs for the first time since ‘03! Definitely an unforgettable year, not just because of everything else going on in the world, but also because the Marlins made the playoffs after losing 105 games last year, so whichever way you look at it, this was still an extremely successful season! Also, for me personally, it was pretty fun joining this Forum and having some fun discussions and game threads with everyone and sharing the frustrations and fun moments of this season with fellow Marlins fans! I haven’t been on any type of Marlins forum in more than 10 years, I used to go to Marlins Forums a lot back around the ‘03-‘06 seasons, but was a long time since I have been on one, so it was fun to find this one, and surprisingly I found this place to be very chill and pretty cool people overall. I even managed to avoid getting into any good old fashioned forum arguments, as arguing on forums is pretty high on my list of least favorite things to do. 😂 There was a moment where @Michaelthought I was making fun of Vesia and @Photo-Realistic Billy called me out for a slight critique of Mattingly’s in game decisions over the season 😂, but thankfully everyone here is pretty cool and we’re all able to have good discussions without going too far into a good old fashioned forum argument! 😂 I probably won’t be posting that much on here during the offseason, as discussions on possible trades and free agent signings is not my specialty (I like reading about it, just not that good at writing about it) but I’ll check in from time to time over the next few months, hopefully to see some good offseason moves! Also hoping to see a JT Realmuto signing, mainly just to see the thread that @taiwanmarlin would create about it! 😂 Thanks again to the Marlins and marlins baseball.com for making this a memorable and fun season for me! Let’s Go Marlins!

  41. This postseason series will feel very different than the regular season vs the Braves. First off, the teams aren't playing in either Atlanta or Miami, so playing in Houston will completely even out the games as far as any "home field advantage" is concerned for either team. Second, the Marlins will have Sandy, Sixto and Pablo ready to go 1,2,3.. So it's not like the Braves are coming into a series vs. Yamamoto, Urena, Rogers/Castano (Although Rogers and Castano did have some very solid outings this season!) Finally, of course some different fans, sports writers and broadcasters will bring up the 29-9 loss every chance they get. That's ok, at the end of the day, in the NLDS the Marlins can lose 2 games 24-1 and 12-0, but if they win the other 3 games, they're winning the series and continuing on, and in the playoffs that's all that counts. 😂

  48. Nobody is going to give the Dodgers or Astros shit for having a bench clearing incident last night? Too busy blaming the Marlins for something when nobody knows how it happened. Suspend both their seasons for a week just in case! MLB: Today we reminded teams of how important it is to follow protocols and guidelines (paraphrased) Hours later: Benches clear in direct violation of the guidelines and protocols. And I am struggling to find any outrage about it from the national writers who were quick to throw Miami under the bus yesterday.
