  1. Maybe I'm just super excited right now but that may have literally been the biggest Marlins win since 2003. Epic comeback. This hopefully gives them the confidence boost they need to maintain some momentum for a while because it sure feels like we're one good hot streak away from essentially locking in a playoff spot.

  2. I don't understand how everyone is ok with a team in a postseason chase giving up a game against the first place team just because we had already won the series. You try and win every game every night especially with the season so close to ending and with a better playoff seed in sight. This wasn't a blow out game in mid-May. We should not be conceding losses. It's also not as simple as looking at the final score either. This wasn't 20-0 in the 2nd inning. Pablo didn't have it and Yamamoto didn't have it... but the Marlins went from being down 11-2 to being down 13-8 going into what was o

  3. After not reporting any positive Marlins news for weeks, how much you wanna bet local sports news will mention this loss?

  4. Look for the Marlins to take 6 of 7 from the Phillies and have a 25-20 record by next Tuesday..

  9. Of course I know that these are two completely different teams and seasons. 2003 was a very special year and team that was put together. I'm not saying I think the Marlins will win it all this year, but I have noticed some interesting comparisons between the two seasons so far: Marlins lose in an absolute record-setting blowout loss: June 27, 2003-Marlins lose to Boston 25-8 September 9, 2020-Marlins lose to Braves 29-9 Marlins win by one run the following night after the blowout loss in a come from behind win, scoring the runs in the 8

  11. Sandy only 3 earned runs so it was neither Amazing Sandy nor Trash Can Sandy. Now we have to come up with a name for when Sandy is somewhere in the middle. Marte PARTAY with a CLUTCH bomb off the wall. For all of Monte’s struggles that was a very sexy steal of 3B under the circumstances

  15. Yams the Barista walks over to an occupied chair. "Mr. Dickerson, here's your triple-shot of espresso." Jordan, I'm over here in the showers, like a Dick. Just put it on the table! "OK!" (Dickerson walks out of the shower, Dick swanging everywhere.) ... Jordan where's my triple-shot of espresso? "You said on the table, so I put it on the circular table with the hole in the middle!" ....... Jordan that's a fucking trash can.

  16. "Hey kids, watch my home run tapes from my Rookie of the Year season in 1996!" Dad please, we've already watched them fifteen times this month ... we're tired. "Check out this one! I hit it off a Hall of Famer. Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh. Wow what a great swing." Dad I'm going to be a water polo player now. I hate baseball because of you. "Now son how are you going to ever show off your arm-side run in water polo?! I mean, my goodness!"

  17. Thanks for the good job, Cervelli, you stepped up when basically half the team was out and you handled the pitching staff like a true boss. Hope to see you again next year with the Marlins or another club!

  18. Realistic: Marlins win the series 4-3, have a record of 23-22 and are a half game back of the Phillies with 15 games to go in the season. Nice if it happened: Marlins win the Series 5-2, have a 24-21 record and are in second place in the NL East. Ideal situation: Marlins go 6-1 in series, have a 25-20 record, and establish themselves in second place in the East and have great shot at catching the Braves. What I want to happen: Marlins win the series 7-0, Braves lose next 6 of 7, Marlins first in the East, Phillies 3rd. 😂

  19. Agreed with this. Once it was 11-2, I think you just leave Yams in there as long as possible. In a normal season with off days and such, maybe you look at it differently. But this team has ZERO off days left and is about to play the 7 most consequential games of our season in a five-day span. Focus on that once you’re down 9.

  20. I think what's not getting mentioned here is that he used all of Yamamoto's bullets, yes, but he also had to use all of Vesia's (50! pitches) and most of Josh A. Smith's (29) bullets too. So Mattingly had to use the entire back end of the bullpen just to eke out a final score. If Yamamoto doesn't ride the struggle bus for a full 2.2 IP, then the Marlins likely have to dip into their middle and back-end of the bullpen -- right before the 7 games in 5 days bonanza. And while the offensive output was nice, this game was still decided in the 2nd inning. As much as we fans might emotionally wa

  29. Look a little more closely - Marte actually starts the process. He lobs up an invisible ball that both Monte and Lewis mimic catching. 😁

  33. W....T...F... Saw the condensed game but now I'm glad I didn't torture myself through the full 9 innings. Yamamoto needs to get DFA'd ASAP. Holy hell... and what's gotten into Pablo lately? I thought he turned a new corner? Well, just some thoughts from the highlights: Happy for Jazz with his first hit AND HR. I'm starting to lean towards thinking Brinson being a better defender than Monte. Good to see him hit a HR.

  35. After that game the Marlins were 41-41 on the season. And after that finished 50-30 the rest of the way..

  36. We were 40-40 when we went to Boston. Lost the first game 25-8, won the next game 10-9 and finished the season 91-71. And you know the rest.

  37. Hey the positive is we’ve put up 9 runs!

  38. Yep, I was just thinking this and started coming around to this since our rotation got pretty healthy. I've now become convinced that with the pitching we have in the rotation, we're a true contender for this division. And maybe deep post season too..... I see no reason why not.

  39. So you're saying if you were a pitcher and you had a choice of having a 8-0 record versus an 0-8 record you'd just not care either way? Even in a competitive sense? I know just from a personal competitive spirit i'd greatly prefer to have fewer losses on my record even though they don't mean much. That's all I was stating here.
