  1. I never felt confident with Kintzler in the game tbh. I would have been ok with him back as depth, but didn't really want him closing games

  2. Y'all gotta remember, it it's not like the choice is if he doesn't become an All-Star they've got to fire him. I think he showed last year he can be a productive platoon bat and 4th outfielder. Lots of folks on here, me included, wanted him to get even more playing time (he did, and his numbers soured a bit). But really, him being a meaningful platoon partner with Dickerson is still helping this club, and I think that's what matters most -- maximizing the team's record.

  3. Jake McGee's parents, in late 1985, listen to Marvin Gaye and share a bottle of merlot. Make McGee.

  4. I understand. Let me try one more Take McGee. 😂

  5. Yep. AAA outfield to start should be Brinson - Harrison - Sanchez. AA will probably have Conine - VVM - Bleday with Jerar DHing (or maybe Jerar to AAA?). A+ with Burdick, Mesa Jr., Scott? Maybe Conine is here and Scott in AA. Man we've got a lot of outfield depth suddenly.

  6. Hopefully we are at the showcase. And when I say we, I mean someone employed by the Marlins before you reply @SilverBullet

  7. This was such a bad contribution that even Jake McGee had to look at it twice. Double Take McGee.

  10. Mish himself said that he thought the Marlins were done and that RF would probably be a Brinson/Sierra platoon. So, as much as I think Mish does a good job on Marlins coverage, he doesn't always know everything. I would think that if they were willing to give Kintzler a $2 million MLB deal, then they will probably pivot to someone else with a similar offer.

  11. With how bad Philly's pen is, he'd have to have the worst spring in history to not make the team.

  12. Hey dude, after all your freaking out about the Marlins not doing anything all offseason since November.... you still haven't said a thing about Duvall signing here. Seriously? What do you think of the move? I'm so close to calling you canada_taiwanmarlin

  13. If there is a demand for him now, then the timing is right. If both Dodgers and Padres want him and will outbid each other, the timing is now. I understand your reasoning but you're not taking into account his injury history. What if he gets hurt again during the season? He'd lose value. I say do it now if the return is right.

  14. I don't disagree with you at all - I just haven't given up on him blooming into a starter yet. We have the option, let's use it to let him develop more. If he's a swing and a miss next year (pun-intended), then he's a 4th OF/platoon guy from that point on.

  15. I know you would all rather keep Cooper but gotta remember the other team has to want the player who gets traded. Cooper is not untouchable. If they call on Cooper you can't just say "have Aguilar or Dickerson instead" and expect the same type of return. It's not that simple. You of course can try and negotiate, I'm not saying don't try and keep Cooper but we have a little bit of a surplus at the big league level and if Cooper will get us a return that improves us you gotta listen.

  16. I think this gonna be higher winning percentage gambling for him. '20 Philly bullpen was so terrible. Fangraphs said, their bullpen in '20 season got 7.06 era, 5.56 fip and -0.8 war, which mean he goes down to 98% bottom feeding bullpen. That's something he has got to try, definitely.

  17. PLAYER PREDICTIONS 1. MVP: Miguel Rojas. I think the 2020 breakout on offense was real. He'll be a year older, yes, so the production might go down a bit, but his knee-slappin' defense and solid hitting will get him AT LEAST a Gold Glove this year. 2. BREAKOUT MARLIN: Isan Diaz. Mentioned this in the other thread. I'm boldly predicting 25 HR and positive DRS/UZR. 3. BEST UTILITY: Jazz Chisholm. I love Berti, but I'm going to guess Jazz forces himself into super utility playing time, knocks a few dingers in the process (maybe 15 HR in 400 PA?). 4. UNSUNG HERO: Chad Wallach.

  18. Turns out Matt Joyce is also signing a minor league deal with the Phillies! We made the playoffs in 2020 and they didn't so I'm sure their plan is to get all the available 2020 Marlins players and pray for the best.

  24. I should probably take back my earlier anger towards him. The wording of what went down sound a little insulting to the Marlins but Kintzler seemed like a good dude last year and there are always multiple factors involved in making a decision like this. The Marlins not picking up his option months ago gave Kintzler and his family an opportunity to look at all their options and they gotta go with what they feel is best for them. No need for hard feelings.

  25. Just saw that the Tigers picked up Renato Nunez on a minor league deal. That sucks, I would't have minded letting him battle it out for a spot as the bench bat with power. I would prefer him up in the big leagues while giving Isan another year in AAA to work through things and hopefully come back next season better prepared.

  26. Marlins should probably check in on Boxberger on a minor league deal like they did last year. Kinda surprised he's still out there.

  27. Basically yes, Mish said they were gonna give him the closer's role again. Kintzler wasn't the most reliable closer but he was experienced and successful and the Marlins bullpen can't afford to subtract experience and success which is why I thought bringing him back would have been the right move even if others got to close more than him.

  28. Lol, would he begging for Marlins to give him a minor league deal after the Phillies cuts him in the spring training ?

  29. Eh, the off-season was considered "over" by a few reporters a week or so ago and then we signed Duvall yesterday. So who knows if it is actually over? And just because they aren't chasing anyone else, that could've been because they were confident Kintzler would re-sign.

  32. Also, it’s based on the phrase “raising Cain” (as in resurrecting Cain from the Bible who killed Abel) and the phrase basically means causing havoc and getting into trouble. So that also exemplifies the average miami ratchet lol bring ‘em on down!

  34. The other thing with Brinson, he isn't bringing anything good in a return. I'd rather have him as a depth option and pray that his 2020 improvements continue this season than just cut him loose for no real reason. With his remaining option we can wait until 2022 before really making a bigger decision on Brinson.

  35. Brinson will be in AAA, he has one option remaining.

  36. If nothing else is done: C Alfaro 1B Cooper 2B Berti 3B Anderson SS Rojas LF Dickerson CF Marte RF Duvall C Leon 1B Aguilar 2B Diaz/Jazz OF Sierra OF Brinson Jazz/Diaz for last spot. Ramirez odd man out unfortunately. IMO

  38. Cooper has also played some LF and depth is always a good thing. We need RH power bats in this lineup. Besides Aguilar, Cooper and Duvall that’s all we have. I agree with a lot of your posts so I’m not disagreeing just to disagree. With a full 162 game season depth is vital. How can a stacked team like the Dodgers know this but we can’t.

  39. Of course the Dodgers asked for Coop. They seen my MVP list and now wants him. No surprise.

  41. Man, coop is one of my faves. but he’s very limited as to defensive positioning and he gives me that “Great Dane” vibe in that they’re both huge and prone to injury and probably end up being put down early lol. If we get a good return for it I’m down. Especially since Duvall will keep the power in the lineup.

  42. I got ya... PLAYER PREDICTIONS, 1. MVP whoever wins MVP on the Marlins will be traded away the next offseason, amirite? 2. BREAKOUT MARLIN Last year it was Alfaro but hopefully this year there are no breakouts 3. BEST UTILITY a screwdriver but I really liked Mike Mordecai back in the day 4. UNSUNG HERO Hawkeye, he never gets enough credit and still never got a solo film 5. FIELDERS CHOICE I'll choose Cecil but Prince was fun to watch 6. YOURE BUSTED (Biggest Bust) Anyone remember Lucy Pinder? TEAM
