  1. Imagine completely discounting a 24-year-old hitter based on 223 big-league plate appearances.

  2. We won’t lose 90 games. Our pitching staff could be top 5 in the league. The defense is borderline elite or very good especially if Brinson or Harrison have a nice breakout. This team is built ideally for a 162 game season. We could also have the most roster depth. We should place 2nd or 3rd. I see the Nats & Phillies fighting for last. Braves should finish 2nd. But after Fried & Anderson it’s meh and their bullpen was amazing last year. They are very vulnerable if they have injuries. Let’s hope the Mets struggle early and the media pressure becomes to much. 4. You are correct. The guy in that tweet was overthinking it.

  5. Actually, just saw Sherman's full quote and he meant that the new TV deal would be competitive with other team's TV deals. He wasn't talking about being competitive on the field. So that quote was definitely misinterpreted.

  6. I think it's an over-interpretation to it, I think Sherman just means the GOOD TV deal would makes this team MORE competitive and not ONLY the good TV deal would make the team competitive. I would rather to think what he means was he would to spend most of that money to improve the team and that's just what I most cared and want.

  8. Agreed but if a team wants to overpay for Cooper, trade him.

  11. We don't know the reason but if he was let go so soon then there had to have been a clear reason why they felt they had to cut ties with him. I appreciate that they didn't stick with him out of stubbornness. So I'm not sure why his firing bothers you... was he doing something amazing that you think they lost out on?

  12. You’re not allowed to be mean to deep dish until you’ve been in downtown Chicago on a cold, windy night, and let that big beautiful beast of a pie do it’s thing.

  13. Here's a fun game: Rookie stats from notable names. Make your guesses! Age 25, 469 PA, .235/.335/.420 and 96 wRC+ and -1.1 WAR Hint: King of the late bloomers. Age 23, 325 PA, .246/.296/.327 and 73 wRC+ and -0.5 WAR Hint: Currently sky high expectations. Age 25, 198 PA, .224/.260/.311 and 44 wRC+ and -0.8 WAR Hint: Got some big rings, but for which hand? Age 21, 229 PA, .169/.227/.324 and 54 wRC+ and -0.8 WAR Hint: Expected to make big money in a year or two. Age 19, 152 PA, .221/.283/.364 and 53 wRC+ and -0.6 WAR Hint: Basebal

  14. And is a fellow UCF alum. 😁 Everything he said could have also been watched or listened to, I think. Jeter & Sherman were holding a press conference.

  15. We're going to see some phantom injured list stints for sure, and thankfully we have a few pitching prospects close enough who will be able to take some innings. Pablo and Sandy should be alright to reach 180+ innings as needed. 8-man bullpen will also help of course. Sixto will be intriguing and get a couple skipped starts for sure. Elieser should never go beyond five innings UNLESS he's developed that change-up. If Campbell is on the OD roster, he can do spot starts to avoid some of those IL stints - Rays had been lengthening him out for a couple seasons in the Minors. 5t

  16. Ha! Yea. That Red Sox record is absurd. According to this we finish behind The Reds, The Cubs, The D-Backs, and The Giants...which I have a hard time seeing. I even think the Nats are about to fall off... I think the coin flip teams are the Phils and Brewers...meaning I don't have a gut feeling what we will see either way. That being said...every other team is better than the fish on paper...so...unless a lot breaks right...let's start practicing our generic baseball victimization commentary: "These are the sorts of games playoff teams win" "Great weekend taking 2

  17. Because a team should always be trying to be competitive even if the TV deal isn't of high value. Because why would a team ever not be trying to compete? I know the truth is they are connected especially for a team like the Marlins but maybe that's what this guy meant? From a casual fan perspective, it sounds bad for a team owner to say that whether or not they'll compete is dependent on TV rights negotiations.
