MLB Network's Chris Russo, I know he's a loud personality meant to make entertaining TV more than he is a deep analyst, did make an interesting point about the Marlins being projected at such few wins thus far... hear this out... Yes they have a questionable offense but every team in the majors will have stretches where the offense falters. When that happens, your pitching needs to get you through the games. The Marlins have the potential to have strong pitching essentially every single game so, basically, every low scoring game is a potential Marlins win. They'll win 1-0 and 2-1 games on3 points

You are correct. The guy in that tweet was overthinking it.3 points

Actually, just saw Sherman's full quote and he meant that the new TV deal would be competitive with other team's TV deals. He wasn't talking about being competitive on the field. So that quote was definitely misinterpreted.3 points

I think it's an over-interpretation to it, I think Sherman just means the GOOD TV deal would makes this team MORE competitive and not ONLY the good TV deal would make the team competitive. I would rather to think what he means was he would to spend most of that money to improve the team and that's just what I most cared and want.3 points

I'm glad they went with Duvall rather than Benintendi and avoided trading prospects. Not much difference between them and I doubt Duvall stays longer than a year anyway. Too many outfielders battling for spots in the system.2 points

Lol he's not bad, he's more knowledgeable than he seems to be, and I think he's good to create talking points. He often goes off the rails but he's more TV personality than analyst.2 points

Found this..... it's actually about Rey's Pizza that was mentioned above. https://miami.eater.com/2014/3/21/6257261/the-mystery-of-miamis-cuban-pizza-revealed [quote] If we leave out the toppings, a Cuban pizza is not much different than a traditional American-Italian one. At the end of the day, it's dough, it's sauce and it's cheese. Where a Cuban pizza differs, then, is in the details of its ingredients. For starters, the dough is more plump, which is usually what any Cuban pizza aficionado will tell you. In Rodriguez's case, it's because he leaves it out lo2 points

"There have been some big misses on the business side," such as: They signed a bad TV deal. I mean, not yet, but like, probably. So, yeah, one of the biggest misses of the last 3 years. Once it happens. ... ... And ALSO this small one: Firing Chip Bowers after I learned his name. I mean, sure, they revamped the stadium, dramatically improved the food services, fan experiences, and pricing. And yeah, they INCREASED their attendance while their record got WORSE in 2019, and the ratings are climbing while TV is dying -- but still, Chip Bowers. His name. Wa2 points

If y'all take a deep dive into those projections -- PECOTA and Zips and whatnot -- you'll see there's a major flaw in those 65-win projections. PECOTA thinks the Marlins will allow more runs than any staff in the NL East. Here's what Steamer projects from the pitching staff: https://www.fangraphs.com/projections.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&type=steamer&team=20&lg=all&players=0&sort=5,a If that comes to pass, heck yes the Marlins'll win 65 games. But if -- like everyone and their drunk uncle thinks -- the Marlins end up having a good to great pitching staff...1 point

Yeah, it would be more sun than they are used to, they should start out by just going for a Brisk walk for 15 minutes. - Yeah, I know, Brisk is not a soda, but still in that classic vending machine soft drinks category. 😂1 point

It wasn't a bad job when you're younger, but it pays very little. I left the mom/pop station after 3 years for an CBS affiliate doing the same job; pay was a little better but the pay was still "meh"1 point

Nice! When I was a kid that would have been my dream job. 😂 Since in my spare time pretty much all I did was watch classic tv shows, but doing that and getting paid for it, is even better. Heck even now as an adult that job doesn’t sound too bad either. 😂1 point

Brady Bunch was definitely my childhood show. During the late 90's, I worked for a "mom & pop" tv station (no network affiliation)... I used to air I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Happy Days, Little House, Andy Griffith Show, Star Trek, Cheers, Family Ties during the weekdays..... I was paid to watch tv (and air the commercial breaks)... Weekends were easy, aired infomercials and religious programming all day (only had to run commercials between the shows so I had 28 or 58 minutes of doing nothing - I had other tvs in the room so I channel surfed or I read a book lol)1 point

Nice! We were big Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Andy Griffith and Little House on the Prairie watchers on TV Land/Nick at Nite when I was a kid. I have seen quite a few episodes of Good Times and The Jeffersons, and Threes company, MASH and All in the family just a couple of episodes maybe. But I agree, those are all classic shows, for sure!1 point

Would he be more of a pitcher or an outfielder? If they want him to pitch, he'd be on a small pitch count, probably face like 7 batters. If he gets quick outs, 7-Up, 7-Down... He just might be the real thing1 point
