  1. Solid game. 161 left. Lots to be proud of. I like Dickerson but there has to be a short leash on him this year. Let’s hope Cooper starts tomorrow and Saturday with the lefties scheduled for the Rays

  2. First of the year! We have more post game threads than runs scored right now. Let's look at some positives at least? - Jazz looked really good - Aggy hit the ball hard many times - Pitching through 7 was great and Detwiler made us all look bad - Allowed one run to the AL Champs

  3. We hung in there against the AL champs. People will say "same old offense" but it is too early for that. The Rays' pitching was dominant looking and probably would have shut down a lot of teams today. Marte needs to get his head out of his ass and show up tomorrow though. His ABs were really bad. He took some horrid swings and looked overmatched.

  4. I get the short season argument. Baseball can be fluky some times and especially when you have 5 different primary starting pitchers there can be a good deal of variance. Just look at the 2019 Nationals* or the 2003 Marlins for instance after 60 games. Those were teams that were not great after 60 that went on to win the whole damn thing. A full season can make a difference. But there shouldn't be an asterisk. The season happened. It was real. The Marlins deserved to be there. This year everything resets. Gotta prove it wasn't a fluke.

  5. Only one game, but yeah, I am hoping Cooper gets more ABs than Dick as the season progresses

  9. Every team played under the same rules last year and they made the playoffs so they were a playoff team with no asterisk needed.

  14. Did they go to the same strip club the Marlins went to or was it a different one?

  15. I think Rich Hill is pitching Saturday and Archer goes after him as a “tandem start” Either way let’s hope we get some Berti/Coop in the lineup!!

  16. I don't like the short season argument for writing off their accomplishments, I actually hate it. All 30 teams worked under the same rules and setup. If it was "easier" for the Marlins to make it, it should have also been "easier" for every team that didn't make it as well. And people also forget that when they reached the playoffs, they went into Wrigley and swept the Cubs. Why is this seemingly considered meaningless?

  17. I see your point. To be honest, the real thing I hate is the run differential argument. The fluky short season argument is fine, but I feel like haters just are grasping for a reason why the Marlins can't repeat and that's why they turn to run differential. But you can't use that argument if you are going to ignore the fact that like 2/3 of the runs allowed are now off the roster and the offense is all back plus Duvall.

  18. The real asterisk is needed for the NL and AL Central. They had 7 playoff teams and 5 of them didn't even get a single win. 4 of them combined for just 2 runs in 8 games. If anything, the Marlins would have benefited from a schedule which includes games against NL Central opponents. The shorter season only really helped because it meant we could aggressively use our young pitching, but don't act like the Marlins were the only team that benefited from a short regional schedule.

  19. I'm not predicting playoffs, but they are a lot better than people think. When you look at the projections, they have every single pitcher on the team regressing to an over 4.00 ERA. They are better than that. And to be honest I feel like a lot of the people predicting the win-loss just gave totals to the other 4 teams and then realized they had to really penalize the fish for the math to make sense. We are way better than the 70 win team that they have us pinned to be.

  21. I can't complain about the pitching. Sandy pitched about as good of a opening day game as any team would hope for. Unfortunately the Marlins bats were quiet, as is customary on games vs. the Rays, apparently. Overall, can't complain too much. Could have been much worse, like a 12-0 blowout.

  22. One game and we hung in there against one of the best teams in MLB last season. No big deal here.

  37. Yea that's your right but are you a Marlins fan or a specific fan of the 2017 team and its roster only because I have zero clue how a Marlins fan can not be excited about this current team compared to the 2017 team. Even someone who is adamant that the 2017 team should have been kept together should be happy that this current roster is looking pretty good. You must not like teams that compete for playoff spots.
