  1. Personally, and I know I skew more in the newer line of thinking as it comes to pitching, if I had a nine man bullpen, nobody is pitching two days in a row unless 100% necessary. Build up guys' confidence by gifting them some high leverage spots when they're fresh. Could go one night with a Bleier - Floro - Yimi combo, the next with Pop - Detwiler - Bender, etc. Maximum 65 games per reliever, nobody should be on pace for a half season's worth of games out of the bullpen. Work more on matchups as well, and NOT simply "oh two lefties coming up let's bring in the lefty." But. Eh.

  6. We were ONE game back of first. Then an EIGHT game losing streak. We can't fire the FO. We can't fire the players. We can FIRE the dumbass who makes stupid line-up and bullpen decisions. FIRE DON MATTINGLY!!! Feel free to vent here...

  7. It is a little bit. Berti is a better baseball player than Isan Diaz and there's no reason why Diaz should play every day.

  8. Craig Mish should manage. Mostly serious. Like 98.3%.

  9. Maybe could have begun the 8th with Bender instead of throwing him into an already-at-450° oven.

  12. Ha that’s funny. You think Ng, Jeter and company are actually watching this team and have any idea what’s going on.

  14. We deserve 2 blown saves for what we did in the 8th anyway so it evens out.

  24. And on his most criticized lineup of the year. Alfaro hitting cleanup, hits a Homer. Aguilar batting 2nd, hits a HR, Jazz batting 5th hits a HR. 😂

  25. Miguel Rojas was watching our team in Jupiter while being out with an injury. Can we just sign the guy to a lifetime contract already? He’s like the new Mr. Marlin.

  32. About damn time we put Lewis Brinson back in the lineup to improve this offense. Well-deserved. And Isan's back in there too, we got ourselves some Brew-Crew Magic today.

  33. Sometimes I wonder if this is the FO's Endgame: Part 1) Patch together a roster that shows flashes of hope but can't stay afloat. In other words, a cheap payroll. Part 2) Put together a Top 5 farm system. Remind fans that the future is bright so that they dream of a better roster than the current cheap one. Part 3) Encourage fans to buy tickets and merchandise and remind them about Part 2 as the reason for doing this. "Be there when it happens!" Part 4) Keep just enough top prospects that deserve a call-up down so the Farm System stays as a Top 5 system. Call up lesser prospects to show flashes of that bright future. Remind fans of Part 2 and Part 3. Part 5) Make a profit and fuck over the fanbase. Go back to Part 1 for next season.

  34. Yep. That’s a perfect example of why imo managers sometimes get too much credit and/or blame for their team’s performance. Case in point, the Dodgers during those years that Donnie was the manager, that team would have most likely won regardless of who the manager was. Put in Donnie, Mike Redmond, Freddie Gonzalez or any other manager, and those Dodger teams would have still won. You know why? Because they have some great players surrounded by a group of good players. Put Joe Maddon, Dave Roberts, Kevin Cash or Rocco Baldelli as the Manager of the 2021 Marlins, and sure they might win a few more games, but I don’t think that they would automatically become a winning team necessarily. Not with the current roster. I’m not saying that Donnie doesn’t have anything to do with the Marlins record this year, not at all. I’m saying that good/great players can make any manager look good, like Donnie in his Dodgers years, and average/not very good players can make even “good managers” look not that special. And even in some cases, you can have a team full of good and great players and a good manager and still not make the playoffs, like the last few years of Mike Scoscia in LA.

  37. Fair points. Aramis also pointed out remarks regarding Castro and Soto, but as you (or someone else) pointed out, perhaps it's selective memory. Maybe he is/was critical of everyone. Possibly he just has less of a filter than others. I don't have a place in this fight, it is not something I've experienced. So in that, I agree with SITA, I can't determine what is or is not considered offensive in that context. I do also agree with you, though, in that we should worry more about ourselves than trying to place every comment under a microscope.

  39. I’d hold him accountable but the FO isn’t showing that they are willing to hold themselves to the same standard. Completely dereliction of duty all the way around

  40. Jazz is not a diva. A diva is all talk, no effort. Hanley was a diva who would jog after balls in the field and wouldn't run hard on balls hit in play. Acuna is more of a diva. Jazz is just a high energy player who plays the game with a lot of passion and energy. Always see him playing hard. You guys think that Jose was a diva? Just because he goes through some struggles, does not mean that he is not playing the game the right way.

  43. Although I agree with this I know I can never fully leave this abusive relationship and will likely watch each game until they're losing again. Plus, I enjoy being angry with the rest of you glorious people.

  44. This is what really irks me. "Let's hire the first female GM and pat ourselves on the back but then give her no money to use to better the team and put her stamp on it" Hiring her was their best move of the offseason but what was the fucking point of making a splashy hire if you're going to handcuff them from doing much of anything?

  45. Not being a gentleman can be an insult that has nothing to do with race. I think Stroman looks like an idiot wearing that as part of his uniform but that has nothing to do with his skin color. Stroman wants it to be taken as racist so he's making it racist but there's zero evidence that Brenly meant it due to race even if it was an insult.
