  1. I love how every time Kim Ng is asked about a specific player, she says she needs more time to evaluate the player. She "wants to get a pretty good idea" of what Jazz is going to be in the future. Said the same thing about Brian Anderson before the season. Mike Hill gave better answers in his interviews, and he couldn't have been more political. Also, she's basically admitting that the offense stinks and she expected it to stink/did nothing about it? Lol.

  3. A lot of ideas/suggestions have been put forth, both in the offseason and during the season, including calling up guys (the easiest one to do) - they instead did nothing and/or called up the wrong guys for no reason.

  5. yeah no matter how much i hate them, and how many times i've boycotted watching them (first full season under Jeter and Co.) i still can't honestly give a shit about any other team no matter how hard I try. Ride or Die baby.

  6. I think with Ng is that I never expected her to really make many moves until the midway point of this season as she gets her handle on what exactly is in this organization. I mean could she make a move? Sure. Will it be good or bad? Maybe. Will it truly be an informed decision? Probably not. Is that what fans want? A GM to come in and make wild decisions without actually having a firm grasp on what the fuck she has in her system? Was she supposed to trust as gospel truth what the last administration said? Its one thing to see reports, and read reports, but until you can actually get a handle on what you have, its tough to make real informed decisions. There being no minor league season last year is a big part of it as well. Though some of the roster moves (really the only bad one is not calling up Sanchez, which I wonder how much is actually her call), is out of her control. Her hands are largely tied on roster issues in regard to infielders and pitching especially. Only so many options you have. The OF situation I'm sure is one of, well who is Sanchez replacing? And does anyone trust Mattingly to use Sanchez properly? There is a 40 man roster issue and there are injuries all over the fucking sport and a lot of it is due to last year. Remember we are already past the total number of games played last year. I expect the second half of the season to maybe be even worse injury wise. I fully expect Mattingly to be gone at the end of season. Maybe before if they feel he has totally lost the club. Kim Ng will want to bring in her own hire. Its what a GM almost always does as it is. Why would she be any different. Don Mattingly is exactly the manager today he was in year 1 with the Dodgers. There is a reason why the Dodgers werent exactly upset that he moved on.

  7. "we looked at guys but when we found out we'd have to pay them we looked at some other guys"

  8. -They must not have looked hard - the only rumor we heard about was looking into Anibal Sanchez, who is still unsigned by anyone. -The "looking for consistency" line - while true - I can tell is going to be an annoying one that keeps popping up from her. -I dislike the fact that it sounds like they've not even considered extending Marte. -Nobody told her pitching-centric teams still need to score runs to win. Sure 70% 3 runs or less, but when you lose 70% of those, it doesn't matter.

  11. Paul Severino talking about our struggles with RISP and immediately after, Dick hits a 3B and Duvall a 1B. That’s the spirit, Paul! Keep it going and teach Todd!

  22. Don: “Something happened to his shoulder, his velo was way down pregame. He was only throwing 85, which is very different from where he’s normally at around 86. Kim did a nice job calling up Thompson, a reliever with a career 5 ERA in AAA and then Dan, but it just didn’t work out. At least we have Pablo going tomorrow. He couldn’t make it up here to Boston because, to be honest, we don’t care. PS-Fuck Jesus Sanchez”

  24. I'm willing to bet that only Don would be the one to say "it's all on me guys" fwiw that said, the Ng/Jeter combo has been atrocious. For someone who came into a gig with a lot of credentials - the offseason and in-season has been shit. Failure to address issues when you already have players available to do so with at the lower levels is unforgiveable. You can argue all you want that "but they suck too". We KNOW what kind of player Isan is by now, same with Sierra. Give someone else a shot. I guarantee you the results will not be WORSE than losing. I'm really not even blaming Don anymore because we've seen him long enough to know he's not THIS bad at decision making so I'm convinced there is some serious tampering going on from the FO. Meh, call me a conspiracy nut if you will but that's what I'm going with. F**k 'em

  25. Becoming pretty convinced that Kim Ng is kind of clueless to be honest. She’s getting a pass for all of this. Whose idea was it to call up Thompson today? Or have us playing short handed for like half the season. She’s been terrible.

  26. It would be better to not use Thompson/Castano at all.

  27. The Marlins are kind of stuck in a limbo state where no position is a definite black hole (over long periods). Also note that I am referring to the starters, not the depth- which clearly needs addressing. No one is horrible, they all can do damage in spurts, but they don't jump out onto the page either. I really thought that having an average hitting team across the board would actually work out since there are no real drop offs and no superstars to pitch around. Kind of a sum of the parts greater than the whole kind of thinking. However, injuries and inconsistent starts from Coop and Andy have not helped. As far as Jesus, I feel like it is a matter of circumstance. The Marlins need offensive help, but more from the infield, than the outfield. I truly think that if Sanchez was a middle infielder, he would be up by now. In order for him to get up and play everyday, you would have to give up on 2 of Cooper, Duvall, or Dickerson. The obvious solution is to trade 1 or 2 of them, but they would be wasting resources to force a move now rather than letting the market develop in July. It is part of the business of baseball. And I really think the team will be better off in the long run and worse off in the short run (this year) by holding out a bit longer. Further, we have already been snake bitten by Isan who was awesome in AAA in 2019 only to suck in the big leagues. Don't want to give up on Duvall and company and then possibly find out that Sanchez wasn't the answer all along.
