  2. Domestic issues are on the rise and are definitely underreported. Courts treat the father like a second class citizen in custody cases. The burden of proof on custody is so fucking skewed its crazy. A father has to show insanely overwhelming evidence that he should have custody over the mother that its insane. Its a product of our history though: Male - provider Female - nurturer What's muddied this water that nobody has really figured out how to properly react is the rise of equality toward women. Women should be paid the same for jobs. But women should also be required to sign up for selective service. Women should have the same opportunities as men, but also the same responsibilities. But we arent even close in the USA to that existing on any of those fronts.

  3. While I won’t say it’s on the level that FishFry reasons, domestic violence against men happens more than many think. Underreported and undercharged for a number of reasons.

  4. Yeah, if they don't spend some money - whether that be re-signing Marte, extending guys, signing guys, all of the above, I may re-evaluate my support for the team.......As a "true" fan, I'll always root for them and want them to win, but it'd be hard to support them day to day as much if they're not willing to spend to make it happen. We put up with the Loria years and the rebuild. They got a slight pass with the pandemic this year. But Put your money where your mouth is.

  9. if you're behind home please hold up a sign that says "CALL UP JESUS SANCHEZ - the batter" every time the Marlins are up to bat. Maybe Ng just didn't know about him all the time. yes...i'm being serious!

  10. I disagree with this, I wouldn't trade any more of our SP's. If they want to hit better, they have money to spend. Controllable SP is very valuable. It's actually the toughest thing to get, all we have to do is help them. At some point, the media down here needs to start treating Bruce Sherman like they treated Jeffrey Loria. He better spend money this upcoming offseason, this team is ready to win with some better hitting.

  12. Our problems are bigger than this but something has to be done about these awful replay calls. It's ridiculous how many blatantly wrong calls are made.

  13. Expecting Isan, who can't hit the side of a barn, to make contact on a hit & run is laughable.

  14. Miggy on the Chris Rose Pod a few weeks ago said that he would love to be part of our FO in the future when asked what one job he would like to do at the stadium outside of wearing a uniform. I believe it’s the same interview where they interviewed Castellanos, another Marlins fan growing up and really made me regret that we didn’t pick him up when we were rumored. The way Miggy talks about the team every time I’ve listened to him has been shining. The Marlins really need some players that are sold on the team rather than those that are here strictly by contract. I know that’s what they play for but it’s nice having a player that actually cares about the franchise definitely doesn’t hurt that he is a more than capable player and good locker room presence.

  17. -Korey Lee is the most interesting guy because he's a catcher which I would really like, but he's also in A ball at the moment. -Nolan Jones currently has a 36.6% K rate in AAA. -Jake Scheiner is a 25-year-old in AA with a 34.1% K rate. -Greg Jones is a 23-year-old in A ball with a 29.1% K rate. And then there's Florial who, as you already mentioned, is another toolsy prospect with a lot of swing-and-miss in his game. We have these kind of players in the system already. If paying one player = "fantasy land," the discussion is irrelevant anyway. Is the organization ever going to spend money? Next season, the Marlins project to have, arguably, the best rotation in all of baseball. It's quite possible. Sandy Alcantara, Pablo Lopez, and Trevor Rogers have proven themselves. Then you can pick 2 from Elieser/Poteet/Sixto/Cabrera/Meyer/Eder. The majority of teams wish they had that type of pitching depth heading into next season. A real organization supports that controllable pitching staff by signing players like Starling Marte. This team is currently committed to not one single player long-term on the payroll. They can't commit to one player who has had a consistent career, currently putting up elite numbers, and apparently wants to be here?

  18. All of the hitting prospects you mentioned are the same kind of hitting prospects we’ve been acquiring and mostly failing with. What they should do is ask Starling Marte how much he wants for the next 3 years.

  21. I attended one with my friend where we were down by 6 runs going into the 7th. Scored 4 in the 7th. 1 in the 8th. 2 in the 9th. Electric atmosphere.

  34. Don't do this. SB doesn't have to be called out on these things for having a different opinion. Argue the post itself, perfectly fine. Just keep it civil. You've been around long enough to know that.

  35. You have some gaping holes in your defense for such a delayed response. Try digesting some facts. Clearly I said the suicide rate for men in DIVORCE is 9:1 over women. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/acquainted-the-night/201906/divorce-is-risk-factor-suicide-especially-men%3famp You clearly know this, but you can’t help yourself as an apologist, so you skewed the topic of DIVORCE suicide cases into suicide as a whole demographic. Let’s not stop there. Pretty hypocritical for saying I lose credibility with words as “probably”. Yet you just did it yourself by saying men “probably” commit suicide due to shame? That’s not entirely true either, read the above article. Better yet I’ll just quote it here. “Dr. Kposowa, a sociologist at the University of California–Riverside, suggested that society has undervalued the strength of paternal-child bonds, and thus underestimated the traumatic effect of severing those bonds through our typical custody arrangements. Further, we fail to appreciate the catastrophic financial impact of divorce on men, and the anger and resentment engendered by losses of both property and status in the wake of a divorce settlement.” Regarding my comment that men don’t report domestic abuse on the same grounds as women is true. https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN1UC2EF In the article it even says men “victims were often unaware that services for them existed. And when they did know about interventions, they didn't believe the interventions were likely to be helpful”. Isn’t that fascinating. Now, are men more heinous when they abuse women (like Ozuna) but that doesn’t mean the are less abused. You do a good job at spinning the facts, I’ll give you that. Be a bit more respectable when you call out other posters. Some people who read this actually might have went through some traumatic experience.

  36. The ONLY thing Isan Diaz is good at is taking pitches (unless it's a 3-0 count) so Dumb Mattingly calling a hit and run with a guy who takes the most pitches on the team and would likely swing and miss a tennis racket at a beachball is everything you need to know about why he needs to go. ("He" in this sentence can be either Isan or Don, preferably both)

  40. No, Das said Jeter meddles and does it worse than Loria, that means he goes in there and ignores everyone's advice and does the exact opposite of what is suggested. Jeter is part of the team, nowhere does it say that he's meddling like Loria. Das made that up. And even being part of the team doesn't say much. Loria was the kind that if everyone said go left he made everyone go right but we have no clue if Jeter is like that. Even being the final say doesn't say about how he does it because the final say could just be affirming what everyone else wants. If everyone says go left and Jeter agrees to go left then that's not meddling.

  41. Thanks for a thoughtful post, @Entendu. I'm not sure where I stand with all of your points, but they made me think and gave me some new perspectives. I agree that there's often a flimsy correlation between punishment and deterrence. Very few people know all the possibilities for punishment for various actions. Hell, most Americans commit multiple felonies a day without knowing (depending on how one interprets the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act)!
