When you are looking at life changing money before doing anything and you then turn it down, I apologize, but I’m not going to be rooting for you if you decide to turn it down. If your proven that’s one thing. i am really wanting to root for the kid since he’s kinda local to me but I’m not liking that attitude in that video. I appreciate confidence but I don’t like the show me my money vibes3 points

The Cardinals should pay the rest of the money. They wouldn’t have Das as a fan if not for us.3 points

It was Kahlil in a short video answering a question with something close to "they better have my money" or "they better give me my money" while chewing gum in a very douchey way. Don't want to dislike the guy, but that's how it comes across.2 points

Yeah dude, totally over it. Feels like this team is cursed sometimes and I don’t even believe in that kind of shit lol2 points

I kinda did a doubletake on that comment too although Hanley was really a POS as a teammate from his lazy ass play. He could have been SO much greater had he actually just played harder and put some time into his craft versus just relying on talent. I don't remember Miggy being lazy like Hanley - so not sure where that came from at all.2 points

It's really a tragedy that we have two RBI leaders in the NL but still be a low scoring team.2 points

This guy better be good or that swagger is going to look mighty stupid2 points

I’ve learned over the years not to put too much stock into the ups and downs of a player in the minors and instead focus on the mechanics of the player. That swing and his body mechanics are as compact as it gets so I have confidence that long term he’ll have no issues with the bat. The more compact the swing and mechanics, the deeper you can allow the pitch to travel which should help with pitch recognition in the big leagues. Typically the inability to lay off high fastballs and breaking balls out of the zone is what makes a rookie “struggle” when they come up so as long as he can improve that part of his game he’s good. Plus remember two things; we don’t know if they’ve specifically told him to swing at only breaking pitches when possible to work on a specific part of his game, and he’s gone through two tweaks of his swing recently so there’s always that adjustment period. I believe in him long term1 point

I just don’t understand why there is a wait. It isn’t like more money is going to magically appear. Either he wants the 4.54 million or he doesn’t. Shit or get off the pot KW.1 point

I'm interested to see if the Marlins leave the offer out there for him in the offseason, or if they just say "no, you didn't accept, bye", which I think is dumb. It's entirely possible other teams' offers wind up in that range and at that point if he did truly want to stay in Miami, maybe he'd be willing to accept our offer then? (i.e. Team X offers the same 3/30, if he wants to stay with the Marlins, that could sway him back to Miami) Obviously they can't leave it out there all offseason if they (hopefully) want to make other signings, but I think they can have it out there in case his market doesn't materialize like he hopes.1 point

JT was drafted as a shortstop and then converted to catcher and he was great, yet the catchers they’ve drafted (not named Charles Johnson) have all sucked. I think we’re better off converting Khalil to Catcher and Mack to a closer in accordance with the marlins C.O.L.1 point

yep. it's starting to look like they're going to have to go way over slot and be penalized or let him go back into the draft - lame. hopefully there's a miracle in July. we once again need @Das Texan to assure us all that the Marlins will sign him this year.1 point

Frustrating that we've amassed so many OF prospects and we still have a hole in CF...1 point

Just hope he's not Hanley Ramirez 2.0 or Miguel Cabrera 2.0 …and hope it's not the reason we got him …1 point

I think he's delusional if he really thinks he's even close to guaranteeing getting 5 to 6 Million or higher next time around in the draft, let alone now. Watson ain't getting #4 slot money. Sign now, or miss the chance to get $4.5 Million, big boy.1 point

Buxton doesn't seem like the answer for us. I'd be underwhelmed with getting Buxton as the big sign that we're going for it in 2022.1 point

Yes it does. Pulling hard for Slam Diego in the postseason this year. They have a fun team.1 point

If we were in contention I would agree with you. At this point, he's not the type of player the Marlins are looking for. He's almost 30 and only has 1 more year of control left. At this point, the Marlins are looking for younger and more controllable players. Mullins on the other hand is only 26 and has 3 or 4 years of control left. He also plays CF which is a position of need once we trade Marte.1 point

I'm liking this post but only because I didn't want to dislike the post and lower your rep. I very much dislike this info. Still needed a reaction. Lol.0 points
