  1. Considering the team had a highly ranked system before the draft it is encouraging to see 5 of the 6 picks jump onto the top 30.

  5. I don’t think Brinson looked lost at all. He worked a couple of counts and made decent contact on the grounder to third. He didn’t get a hit. That happens occasionally in baseball. Don’t read into it until you have to. It was his first Major League game in some time.

  8. I would be so proud of Mattingly if his plan is to start with Josh A Smith then relieve him with Josh D Smith and then follow that with Morin and then Moran.

  29. the three batter rule only nullifies if they take the pitcher out after the inning. If the pitcher faces one batter and goes back out next inning, he MUST face two more batters before he can be taken out.

  30. Yes, you can be replaced after that, but if you start the next inning after that, you gotta face up to your third batter.

  31. I thought the 3 batter rule is nullified if you end the inning.

  37. I thought the strike zone was a bit tall for Nunez as it was, and looking at Baseball Savant, yeah, the one pitch that looked to be completely in the top of the zone was waaay up and out.

  40. I'm always down for a discussion, no problem. The Hoyt metrics are pretty interesting. Thanks for explaining that. Hopefully he continues to perform up to his career numbers and we hit big with him and Bleier. I admitted later on Brinson's approach of locating pitches did seem to improve, but I agree that confidence in his swing definitely doesnt seem to be all there just yet. Hopefully its more nerves of facing real action after a long layoff and he starts to get into the groove soon. Really want him to pan out for us.

  41. I wonder if VVM is still considered a future major leaguer. Maybe not a star but that doesn't mean he can't have a decent MLB career eventually.
