Joey Porter cited for battery
BENGALS Jones allegedly attacked by Porter in Vegas casino Tuesday, March 20, 2007 Bill Rabinowitz THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Another Cincinnati Bengals player has become involved in a legal dust-up, but this time there?s a twist: The Bengal is the apparent victim. Linebacker Joey Porter, who recently signed with the Miami Dolphins after eight seasons with Pittsburgh, faces a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly attacking Bengals left tackle Levi Jones in a Las Vegas casino Sunday night. Jones was playing blackjack at the Palms hotel-casino with a friend when Porter and six others approached him from behind, a source said. Without provocation, the source said, Porter punched Jones in the face. Two necklaces were ripped off Jones? neck in the attack. Jones, who lives in Las Vegas during the offseason, was treated at the scene and at a local hospital. Authorities reviewed the casino surveillance and did not charge Jones. The Bengals had no comment other than to say Jones? injuries are not severe. "We will monitor the situation and refrain from making any further comment until we gather more information," coach Cam Cameron said in a statement issued by the Dolphins. Jones and Porter have trashtalked on the field in the past, and obviously it became personal. Jones isn?t the only NFL player to have sparred with Porter. In 2004, Porter and Browns running back William Green were ejected after a pregame fight. Porter is a three-time Pro Bowler. He was due to receive a $1 million roster bonus, but the Steelers released him March 1. The Bengals and Dolphins reportedly were the finalists to sign him, though Cincinnati didn?t have enough salary-cap room to compete with a Dolphins offer that included a $12 million signing bonus. The Bengals play in Miami this season. [email protected]? Porter's a certified badass and Jones is a certified p***y... When 6 other dude's were involved on Porter's side. What a guy. You guys are just lucky he didn't do this to Chris Henry, man. Then Porter would be dead. You guys are all shameless homers. If I get banned for that, fine. But, I don't try to act like the stupid sh*t we've done off the field is "badass." f***ing criminal. You know what the real shame is? That Porter didn't do this to Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots roster. Then at least he'd have done something meaningful and given the Jets a surefire seasonlong division win.

Joey Porter cited for battery
Good teams usually take a step back before they take a step forward. I knew the Bengals would come short of the playoffs this season. I thought they'd go 9-7 and just miss, or barely etch by and lose the first round. I expect to make the playoffs this year... But, that's besides the point. I wouldn't trade any of our superstars for any dudes on the Dolphins. Have fun celebrating meaningless off the field victories like now, though.

Jones: Also robbed By GEOFF HOBSON March 19, 2007 Updated: 3:15 p.m. Although a police report won?t be filed until Friday, Bengals left tackle Levi Jones was not only allegedly punched by Joey Porter Sunday night in a Las Vegas casino but he also told police he was robbed in the attack. The Bengals said Monday that Jones has no serious injuries after police confirmed he had facial cuts. Officer Martin Wright of the Vegas police said Monday that Jones said he had some jewelry stolen in an incident that apparently has roots in on-field trash talking that goes back several years. Some sources indicated Monday that as many as seven people, including Porter, were involved in an attack of Jones, but police wouldn?t confirm the report and said they were attempting to find out if the incident is on tape. “If it?s on tape, I would imagine it would be part of the report, Wright said. “There were other people there. All we know is that when we arrived at the scene we heard there were words and one guy hit another guy and the victim wanted to press charges. The altercation is stil being sorted out by all sides. Wright said it began with words at a gaming table and finished with a confrontation in the parking lot. Police cited Porter for misdemeanor battery after he allegedly punched Jones in the face. Kenny Zuckerman, Jones? agent, had no comment on the incident or his client?s condition. Porter's agent, Jeff Sperbeck, was unavailabe for comment. Porter, who had half a sack in the Steelers? last five games against the Bengals, has had many on-field words with Jones, the man that blocked him on many of those plays. Porter signed a five-year, $32 million deal with Miami last week after the Bengals thought they had set up a visit with the Pro Bowl linebacker. Jones and many Bengals have spent the past few Steelers games jawing with Porter. In 2005, one of their games began with Porter and wide receiver Chad Johnson trash talking at midfield just before the kickoff. According to the Bengals statement, the incident has apparently not affected Jones? surgically-repaired knee. The cartilage injury knocked him out of eight games and forced him to the sidelines for the second half of the season finale against the Steelers. Last month head coach Marvin Lewis said Jones could undergo another surgery that wouldn?t prevent him from reporting to training camp on time. The club hasn't confirmed if he had the procedure. Porter surfaced in Miami for the first day of offseason workouts Monday for the Dolphins. The Bengals report in two weeks. The Bengals game against the Dolphins in Miami this season now has some hype. So, it took Porter and 7 dudes to rob him. Yeah, Porter's the man. I'll bet Jones probably pissed him off by telling him how sorry the Dolphins are (true). Porter's jealous he's been owned by Levi for years now. This year is just going to be another one. Yeah, I'm sure it took 8 guys, including Joey Porter, to rob Levi Jones and all he came away with was a small cut. :whistle Oh, and I'm sure Joey's just sooooo jealous of Levi, considering his team is 8-3 against Levi's sensational Bengals since 2002. Oh yeah, and he has a SB ring. I guess he is jealous of Levi's 0. Go ahead and belittle the Dolphins now, considering we all care how bad we are in a rebuilding time. But in reality, don't be upset because our new LB kicked your OT's ass. :thumbup You're five. It's hilarious. The only reason the Steelers kicked our asses is because of piss poor run defense. Every game, except the last, can be attributed to that. Not to "OMGJOEYPORTER'S" explosive D. Oh, well, Levi Jones is an elite level player and one of the best in the game. I'd take him over trash like Porter. Enjoy hell in the cellar, along with Porter. The sad part is, the Phins are so pathetic it's this kind of crap their fanbase has to celebrate. I'm looking forward to seeing that game now. Seeing us get all hyped up will be funny.

Grindhouse
As established a chick with a gun on her leg whom I'm assuming shoots zombies (anyone remember "Sex Machine" From Dusk Til Dawn?). I'm thinking Evil Dead, more than anything. I don't think I forgot. Tarantino and Rodrigez DEFINITELY liberally borrowed some shots from Raimi's series. The only way this concept could be better is if Sam Raimi did a trailer himself, starring Bruce Compbell. But, THAT'S IT.

Rob Zombie's: Halloween
You guys are kidding me, right? The original Halloween sucked. It was just flat out stupid. There was no tension or anything in that movie whatsoever. And let me go on record and say the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre sucked as well. I don't understand why these two movies always get such high praise. I'll stick with A Nightmare on Elm St and Friday the 13th for my classic horro films. Still, I'll give Halloween some credit though. Rifftrax.com put out a fantastic audio track that's funny enough to keep me watching it again and again. Wow. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my favorite horror movie of all time. Freddie and Jason are a joke compared to Mike Myers in the original Halloween. I mean, essentially, you named a BAD spoof of Halloween by saying Friday the 13 is better. Jason is an exact copy of Mike Myers, especially in the sequels on. It's all opinion anyways. I'll give this a chance. I liked the original Halloween and I don't have a problem with Zombie living out his boyhood fantasy.

Grindhouse
It just looks like every super-badass 80's action movie you don't see getting made anymore. I mean, Kurt Russel looks like he's playing Snake Plisken. You got homicidal, yet hot babysitter twins. As established a chick with a gun on her leg whom I'm assuming shoots zombies (anyone remember "Sex Machine" From Dusk Til Dawn?). Think of every John Carpenter film, with elements of the original Robocop and every other horror/splatter/gorefest from the 80's.

Actually, the gun on the leg is one of the selling points. Plus, it's obviously on the poster above. "OMG SHE'S GOT A GUN FOR A LEG!" Who cares? It's Tarantino. It's Rodrigez. 'Nuff said.

Unless someone attacks a point I've made thus far, I'll do just that (wait until I've seen the movie before writing more). However, Zodiac and the next Ingmar Bergman revival take preference right now. I thought Fox did a good job of attacking your point. None better. He was attacking my point all night. :mischief

Dallas is 51-9
Warriors just dominated the Mavs last night...Dallas has lost 10 games this year and two have been against the Warriors (once in Dallas, once in Oakland) What I don't get is how you can lose by 20 to Portland and come back the next night and destroy Dallas Happens all the time in sports. It's WHY-THE-GAME-ARE-PLAYED!

Video captures man mugging 101-year-old lady
Is she 101 or 85? I mean, it doesn't really matter that much; either way the guy is still scum. But, these stories kind of make me wonder when they can't even get the facts right twice in their own article. That and it's just poorly written even with the characters I can't read. learn how to read. or read more slowly. jesus. Trew. Like I'm going to listen to you with that avatar.

Someone who loved Frank Miller's graphic novel certaintly wants a page to screen adaptation to be as exact as possible. I read Sin City in the 8th grade and then when they came out with the movie I was hoping for a perfect adaptation and I got that, I want more of the same. Also again, you have to change your perception going in. This is not a movie account of the Battle of Thermopylae, its a movie adaptation of a graphic novel's interpretation of the event. Very different. That might contribute to your personal appreciation/feelings for the film, but under no circumstances would that hold water for an objective review/analysis of the film. Sure, you could adore the source material, but just because it's faithful doesn't mean it is a better film. In fact, many films suffer as films because they strive to be too faithful. To put things into perspective: it has been said that on average each page of a screenplay corresponds to one minute of film time. Now imagine a novel (or some other written form) with much, much more convoluted text. That alone is not an easy transition, and that is only the surface of it. When evaluating film, it must be considered in its own microcosmos. There are exceptions to this, however, but I am not articulate enough to explain them. To each his own I just think it's silly going into this movie and thinking it's trying to be an accurate portrayal of the historical event when that isn't what it is. Just seems like a silly position to take before seeing it. It's like wanting to see a movie on realistic crime fighting in this country and seeing Batman. You say that as if Batman isn't a real crime drama. I don't believe you.
