If Berti isn't the solution at shortstop and more a 'utility guy', maybe Dane Myers can play shortstop perhaps? He played 3B and outfield. He has good hitting, good range, good arm. He's a great all around athlete I remember when Skip started playing him in center during practices when Davis got hurt he said he was impressed how easy it was to go from 3B in the minor leagues to center field. I think the word he called him was a 'freak' alluding to his overall smooth baseball skill and athleticism. I see no reason why he wouldn't be a good shortstop unless he cant field a groundball there. I think Dane Myers is one of the best hitters we had in the minors and proved with his limited time he could hit in MLB, before going in a slump and then never seeing the field again. If not at shortstop I think he earned some playing time in the outfield as well or 3B if Burger gets hurt/needs a day off.
Interesting idea

Do you think Jazz would play SS again? If he wanted to play SS again they could put Edwards CF, Arraez 2B, Jazz SS.
I wanted Jazz at SS to begin the season, but after moving him to CF and actually having him become a great defender I don't think it's fair or makes much sense to move him again

Interesting I haven't noticed his weak arms, I don't think Berti had much arm strength either. Where would you play Edwards, assuming you were to play him? Someone mentioned moving Arraez to 1st and play Edwards at 2B.
He’s a natural 2B and I think he’d be fine defensively there. I know they tried cross training him at CF in the minors since 2B is filled and SS wasn’t working out, but if Jazz is staying there then that’s filled too. His bat doesn’t play well in the corners either. And I’m not a huge fan of moving Arraez to 1B since his bat becomes a lot less valuable. I honestly don’t know what to do with X, he doesn’t seem to have an obvious starting spot open for him.

Yeah probably, but I’d like them to make a lowball offer so at least we get included in the Rosenthal rumors that the marlins made an offer. Should keep me entertained for a few days.

X can’t play SS. Noodle arm. Worse than Wendle actually.
Go get Garver and a Japanese pitcher. Idc which one. They just have to be Japanese.

Congrats to everyone on this Miami Marlins message board in the year 2023. Can’t believe we’ve never made the playoffs since I began lurking in 2005. We deserve this.

Would you rather player Milwaukee or Philly

Braxton most likely has to pitch on three days rest on Sunday now. Tough to clinch by Saturday. Really bad

Should be heavily fined if their ground’s keeping wasn’t standard practice

The fact that she hasn’t been extended already considering our relative success makes me think she’s not really the one calling the shots. If she is however, I want her to stay.

Sixto is never pitching for the Marlins ever again. This is like when the gov/media push the UFO stories. Ng put Sixto in AA to distract you from the fact that Cueto is on the starting staff. Master class move.

Is there anything lamer than people making a big deal of Acuna’s 60 SB? It’s not impressive with the new rules.

The losing streak + football starting has killed a lot of interest in the marlins despite being 1 game out. Weird vibe.

Skip’s clock hasn’t even started yet.
Him and Ng are here to stay for the foreseeable future which is a good thing.

So it turns out the single A teenagers we traded were more valuable to the 2023 Marlins than Robertson

I think we need to just believe in ourselves, put our heads down, and put in the work to make the best of this season with the staff we have while knowing that no matter how the chips fall we did our best to compete and have the ability to improve next year 💪
