I would prefer that my favorite team not sign a guy with multiple credible rape allegations against him

    "Credible" lol.

The primary woman who accused him literally admitted in a recorded phone conversation with him to it being consensual, and there were text messages released of her talking with her friend about how Bauer was her "next victim" and he she wanted to take his money.

As for the other women, define "credible." Just because the women said it?

Look: Bauer is obviously a sexual deviant and engages in some freaking weird stuff, but you would be surprised what some people are actually into. You can be a weirdo freak without breaking the law, and that's what Bauer appears to be. And if you think Bauer is the only MLB player or professional athlete doing this sort of thing, you're very naive.

This asinine western society we have where we all forever label someone a rapist and then proceed to blackball them based on allegations is ridiculous.

I'm so confused on the different stories here... what are they currently saying? That Ohtani helped this guy pay off his debts but didn't realize he was sending money to a gambling organization? Or are we back to saying the guy stole Ohtani's money?

First they said Ohtani paid off the debts. Then the story changed to Ohtani not paying off the debts at all.

    Very strange.

Jazz' point was they didn't allow Sanchez to be himself, and Sanchez then went into a huge slump. It's not strictly a "do what you want" scenario Jazz wants, simply, "let him be him and if criticism is warranted, then talk to him." Which is how it should be.

Jazz didn't say anything about warranted criticism. He was basically just telling them to let Sanchez showboat.

Again, when Jazz is the only one feeling a certain way about something, I'm skeptical.

I also highly doubt Sanchez went into a huge slump as a direct result of players telling him to tone it down lol.

Going to go out on a very small limb here and say that it wasn't the first time Jazz was perceived as being unprofessional.  Same goes with Sanchez.

They are both talented but obviously very immature.  Guessing these incidents were a way of the veterans trying to get through to them so that they can reach their potential.  Right or wrong they probably were frustrated with the attitudes and work ethics of these young players.

TBH, Jazz is a bit of a clown.  There's a reason a player of his potential was traded away by the Diamondbacks.  Same with Sanchez.

Hopefully they will both mature and live up to their potential.

As of right now that does not look to be the case.

Yeah the fact that everyone was getting on Sanchez's case (according to Jazz) and that Jazz was the only one to think otherwise says something given Jazz's own immaturity level.

While I do think the whole "no fun" attitude is silly, the "do whatever you want" attitude that a lot of the younger guys knock the veterans and old-timers for being opposed to is equally as silly. There should be some type of medium. The vets wanting to keep a young Sanchez in check is not necessarily a bad thing, in my opinion.

We also have to keep in mind the setting here. Jazz was on The Pivot, which is an incredibly cringey podcast featuring a bunch of try-hard hosts that worship the ground athletes walk on. It's no surprise Jazz felt comfortable talking freely about the whole thing, and you can see that none of the hosts even challenged him.

The fact of the matter is that Jazz owns a lifetime slash line of .245/.304/.452. For comparison's sake, that is not even as good as Cody Ross. Jazz has never even played a full season. He hasn't earned the right to talk this much. As others have said, he isn't Ronald Acuna. Stop worrying about what Miguel Rojas did to you a couple of years ago (and Jazz wasn't even entirely in the right there anyway) and stop badmouthing every player you think "wronged" you and just shut up and play.

Both parties are in the wrong in that story - Miggy (or someone else) should've woken him up, AND Jazz should set an alarm if it was a pre-scheduled meeting.

Yeah this is a good point.

Why did no one wake Jazz up? I highly doubt Rojas was the only player who saw him sleeping. The fact that everyone just left him there might be an indication of how the clubhouse felt about Jazz in general.

The story of Jazz's cleats being shredded by a veteran and drenched in milk is awful and I think is a big point to make for anyone who thinks this is just about Jazz being immature. Things like that are just purely mean and don't teach anything to a young player. All it does is create tension and resentment.

I'd like to know more about Mattingly during all this. Did he know what was going on? Did he lose control of the clubhouse?

Jazz made it sound like Mattingly was cool with him but he also made it clear that this stuff absolutely doesn't happen under Skip.

It's Mattingly. He probably just didn't care about any of it.

  7. Should Rojas have woken Jazz? Yes.

But Jazz telling the world that he slept through a team meeting isn't exactly a good look.

Definitely a dysfunctional locker room, but Jazz thinking he actually looks good telling this story just goes to show he is still immature. Rojas isn't here anymore. Jazz is.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player post as mediocre results as Jazz and get this type of star treatment. I like him and think he can be terrific, but he has a career .754 OPS and has never played a full season. He hasn't done much of anything yet.

    This a a 90+ loss team

Honestly this team could approach 100 losses if the pitching staff remains decimated like this. Literally missing four-fifths of last year's rotation right now.

For all of the talk about this FO not signing anyone this offseason (and rightfully so), it wouldn't have even mattered. You can't expect to contend when essentially your entire starting rotation is out. Signing a couple of mid-tier arms really wouldn't have helped much at this point.

Elbow soreness will 💯 mean TJ surgery. And yet we still sign nobody.

Gonna be honest: does it even really matter at this point? We are already without Sandy. If Eury is out for any extended period of time, this season is basically done.

I think Nicolino was actually ranked higher than Syndergaard at the time?

I could be totally wrong and thinking if Aaron Sanchez.

    Shut up, Das.

I thought the story was that the Marlins asked for Syndergaard but were told no?

Also, hard pass on Syndergaard. Dude really hasn't been good (or healthy) in like six years.

It's both amazing yet awfully sad that the story of our spring training so far is that Sixto Sanchez is still able to throw a decent pitch.

All joking aside, Sixto's stuff is filthy. It's his painfully obviously poor work ethic that is the problem.

I still say he has No. 1 potential, but the chances of him realizing are about the same as @Admin admitting that they are Jack McKeon's son.

That Soler contract he signed shows how unserious the Marlins are about actually winning and caring far more about profits end of day.

if you want to build upon 2023 - you sign Soler.

In today's day and age, thats not even an unreasonable contract.  It doesnt hamstring you long term.  It allows you to maintain a level of competitivness and keep pushing forward for a playoff berth.

    Joke of a franchise.

Lol yeah and then in Year 2 when Soler is OPSing .700 like he did with in 2022, you would be criticizing the Marlins for signing him.

The fact that you still peddle this nonsense and expect people here to actually take you seriously is mind boggling to me.

It doesn’t matter if they’re right it’s really a terrible, awful look

It's typical Marlins but I wouldn't call it a "terrible, awful" look. We're talking about a guy who slashed .250/.304/.457 last season and only played in 97 games. This isn't Miguel Cabrera here.

One time more than Fish Team as it turns out.

Probably helps that they didn't firesale a lot too. And it's less of a retirement state.

They've won two playoff series lol.

Their fans are just obviously better than ours as a whole.

who will be the last team on this list?

    Marlins or Rockies.

That 1993 expansion class is something else!

I mean the Marlins have won two World Series (same amount as the Cardinals during that span; just saying).

Doesn't change the fact that they have done nothing this offseason and in many other offseasons, but they certainly aren't a failed expansion franchise and most definitely not in the same class as the Rockies.
