  1. Padres were expected to contend or at least be better, Marlins weren’t. Some see the difference between Green and Don’s situations and others don’t.  Of course those mad at Jeter for keeping don would’ve probably also acted out if he fired him. They would have said something like “sure blame the manager for your dirty work of tearing down the roster. Typical Jeter to not take the blame”

And I've already explained it, I dont know 100% and never said I did. It's not brown nosing, its just happening to agree.

Nah man we agree on everything, except for like the 5 or 6 things over the last month where we didn't.

Anyone else think the only reason Jeter reached out is that otherwise it leaves him looking bad? Jeter's image is so calculated so I can see him doing this to make himself look better.

This post is proof that Jeter can never do the right thing or win with some people.

At least those of us accused of being Jeter shills, can admit when he's wrong about something.

Should we continue to act like a fake fan and hope this team to loss all the regular games in the next season to win the first overall pick ? we're only ranked fourth in the farm system and the goal should be we ranked first.

While it would be nice to be ranked first in minor league systems, it isn’t a goal. Being top 5 is good enough. I would like to see some progress at the big league level in 2020 personally.  Not a contender but also not a 100 loss team.

I will say that I don’t think Yamamoto is as good as we might have thought he was before he came up. He’s decent but nothing more than a 4-5 starter.

I don’t recall many expecting big things from him. I think 4-5 starter at best or BP arm was the general consensus all along.

I think Hill stays for multiple reasons but this week they preached continuity and not deviating from the plan... keeping Mike Hill is more in line with continuity and sticking with the plan.

and I will say something controversial, I hope he does stay. He's been much better overall (yes that yelich deal looks bad so far before someone says it) under Jeter and I think that proves he was being overruled and controlled by Loria. I'd like to see him continue to build this thing.

I’m really not worried about it.  With all the contracts that have come off the books since they bought the team the time has finally come around to fill the roster out with new players.

All the talk around here, Twitter, in the media, from the front office has been focused so much on the minor leagues.  Restocking the minor leagues. It was the right thing to focus on. It’s gone on so long that I think a lot of fans may be locked in on that and penciling in opening day 2021 lineups using all marlins farm hands. This is obviously not going to happen.  It’s great we have a too five system now.  We will get our core out of there.  But some of those players will get flipped for other assets.  Free agents will be signed.  The restocking of the farm and shedding bad contracts phase has been completed.  We are entering a different phase and I would expect the moves we make to take a different feel.  It’s the only logical thing.

    Yep I think so too.

But also gotta make sure they're the right moves and not just spending to say hey look we increased payroll!!!!

Of course. There is a way to accomplish that.

I already know some people will defend them if they don't spend a cent with that argument, but I won't. They can spend smart and still spend a little. Slashing the payroll to around 50 million would be a very bad message to the players and the fans.

  9. Factoring in renewals and arby, their 2020 payroll is under $50 mil I believe. They have to spend this off-season and not just a couple of minimum deals. It'd send an awful message if the payroll goes down from 2019 to 2020.
