  3. I understand the financial sense in staying in England, but it's a little different with Roy and Ricky. Roy was clearly the best in the world at his weight, there is debate over Ricky. Also, hometown decisions are not prevalent in America like other countries, which is a big time reason fighters don't like leaving the U.S.
  4. Is there anything not to love about Ricky Hatton? Only the fact that he doesn't fight real fighters in their prime and then will come to America to take on fights that we all know the outcome ahead of time. He called out Mayweather, now let's see how serious he really is.
  5. ESPN: Indiana football coach Hoeppner dies of complications from brain tumor ESPN.com news services INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana football coach Terry Hoeppner died Tuesday of complications from a brain tumor, a university spokesman said. He was 59. Terry Hoeppner Hoeppner Hoeppner, who had two brain surgeries in the past 18 months, missed nearly four months on medical leave. He died at 6:50 a.m. at Bloomington Hospital, said J.D. Campbell, the school's sports information director. "Coach died due to complications from the brain tumor for which he had been treated surgically and therapeutically over the past 18 months, " Indiana University team physician Dr. Admin Rink said. "His family was at his side." Late last week, the school said assistant Bill Lynch would replace him as coach for the 2007 season. Hoeppner, who went 9-14 in two seasons as Indiana's coach, had taken three medical leaves since December 2005. He hadn't been seen publicly since late February. Hoeppner left the team temporarily three times in 15 months starting in December 2005 when doctors removed a tumor from his right temple a year after athletic director Rick Greenspan hired Hoeppner. His wife, Jane, said in a statement announcing Lynch's hiring that her husband was undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He had been hospitalized last week, but was expected to return home Friday. In September, a CT scan revealed another growth in the same area of Hoeppner's brain. When doctors operated a second time, Hoeppner left the team -- an absence expected to last two weeks that lasted through spring practice. "Terry's fight was courageous and will serve as an inspiration to those who have known him," IU athletics director Rick Greenspan said. "This is a truly sad day for our community and all of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hoeppner family and to those whose lives he has touched." Hoeppner is survived by his wife, three children -- Amy, Allison and Drew -- and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. Sad news, RIP.

  8. Yeah, real worked up. I love the token response too. You need some new material already, seriously....too predictable already. :thumbup
  9. Do a search for Mike Lowell and look at any post Swift has made on him post-2005. Broken record. And yet, eerily similar to the broken record that you are when you jump down everyone's throat who talks about either former Marlin on the Sox. Stop being such a control freak over the topics. Jesus Christ.
  10. How is her serving the entire sentence she was given an abuse of power? And I'm going to echo the earlier comments.....this is a news thread. Why does it have to be moved? No one serves full sentences. We'd have 900 million people in jail if people served full terms. Bingo. Show me the amount of people that are serving the time she will for her crime. Um...a lot of people serve their entire sentence. I work in the DC criminal justice system. People don't get released after serving 3/45ths of their sentence. People serve their entire sentence. That's ridiculous. I believe Martha Stewart served all if not most of her sentence. We both know there are different types of crimes that usually require different amounts of time to be served. You are pretty smart, so I think you know what I meant. Her punishment is harsh for the crime and usual punishment that goes with it.

  12. I support her serving a jail sentence, but I do think that reinstating the original 40+ day sentence is an abuse of power, just as her serving no time would have been an abuse the other way. She is being made an example of in this instance (today), which is stupid to me.
  13. Apparently Paris is out of jail for a "medical condition": Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk. The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head. Good god, isn't that the point of jail?

    MLB Draft 2007

John Manuel: Matt Dominguez goes 12th overall, 10 spots after his prep teammate, Mike Moutakas. He instantly becomes one of if not the best hitting prospect in the Marlins system. That's on par with saying the sky is blue.

Keith Law has him ranked as the 7th best player in the draft....BA has him as the 15th.

I will be disappointed if not Heyward or Porcello. If not one of those, I will laugh at our "best player available" claim.
  17. I didn't interpret it that way. It's obvious we have a difference of opinion.
  18. Guillen's comments are definitely interesting. Although, I wonder how much he would be willing to talk if he wasn't Sheff's teammate. I personally think this whole situation is being blown wayyyy out of proportion by the media, as usual. To me, it's clear Sheffield wasn't trying to bash Latinos and definitely was not trying to be racist, either. Racism often isn't an active attitude. It lives in the passive acceptance of irrational stereotypes. Whether Sheffield intended to be racist or not, he certainly expressed a view of his own racial superiority. That is racism. I personally don't think Sheffield's point was an attempt to express a view of racial superiority. People can twist other's words to mean whatever they think, but I personally have a different view here than you on the meaning of what was said. Ok, what is your view on it? That he didn't say anything? He obviously said something racist. The only way you can think he didn't say something racist is if you think he didn't say anything at all. I'm not really offended by this, and I get what he was trying to say, but it's still clearly a racist statement. I think what he was aiming to say is that people feel more comfortable with latin players initially because they have a harder time to talk back due to the language barrier and fear of being sent from America back to their homelands. Carlos Guillen supported this theory. Whether or not it's true, whether or not anyone here believes it is one thing. To me, that was the message he was attempting to send. I don't think he was trying to bash latin playerss, I don't think he was attempting to say blacks are superior. Maybe he used some "politically incorrect" methods, but I don't believe he was trying to be a racist. Shoot me.

  20. I doubt the Pats trade him in division.

  22. So now one good year makes you top 10 automatically at your position? Hmmm, interesting. So I guess based on one year, David Garrad is a better QB than Big Ben...at least according to your logic (better QB rating, better TD-INT ratio). I guess you would rate Mike Furrey ahead of Admin Fitzgerald at WR too. You know what, I've changed my mind. I think Thomas Jones is the #1 RB in the league, followed by Ladell Betts #2.
  23. LT #1? WTF.....Thomas Jones is #1 clearly!!!!1 And as for Betts being a top 10 RB....LOL. Keep it coming. Considering in his 6 NFL seasons, he has rushed for over 371 yards exactly ONE TIME, I'd say that it's safe to call you ignorant.
  24. I'd definitely put Ronnie in the top 15. Despite missing 3+ games, he still ran for over 1,000 yards and was severely underutilized by Mularkey, who is now no longer running the offense for that reason. He also did this without the benefit of having a legit passing game due to the QBs we had to send out there and the inconsistency with the line.
