  1. Do you know what the most exciting thing to do that is close to where I live? Drive 45 minutes to the 24/7 Wal-Mart. :lol Sad part is, the Super Wal-Mart is about the only thing Waterville can boast about too.
  2. You have a lot of time on your hands, don't you? Hey, there's nothing to do up here in Maine. :plain

  5. I thought so too! I guess the penny pinching Marlins didn't offer anything? It wouldn't be the Marlins doing the hiring - it would be FSN Florida.
  6. May - Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Frosted Flakes' Tony the Tiger) Henry Corden (second voice of Fred Flintstone, 1977-2005) June - Paul Winchell (Ventriloquist, voice of "Tigger", creator of one of the first artificial hearts) Not the best year if you are a voice actor...
  7. I like the part where it says it is "home-made" and looks "better than the original".
  8. well it says "a package that includes Nolasco and Pinto".... True, but you would think he would be the key to the deal, and not a throw-in later.
  9. How much is he making? I think there is still a chance he might stay. He's making $2,000,000 this year.
  10. True it is... Reported by MLB.com http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...e2005&fext=.jsp Like what Stag5 had, there is no mention of Mitre...
  11. When will free-agents learn that the most money isnt necessarily the best place to go? He has also said he wanted to go to Toronto because of Brad Arnsberg.
  12. I don't think this is true either - I think Matt Erickson is a minor league free agent, so he can't be traded.
  13. Happy Christmahannakwanzika! I prefer "RamaHanuKwanzMas" myself.
  14. ``Today was very difficult, because I have strong affection for Luis Castillo. But it's also necessary. I don't think we've really taken the time to either feel sorry for ourselves or reflect otherwise.'' Line of the article...

  16. Keith Olberman just said a Marlin official said Luis Castillo gave up on the season and wasn't injured. I don't buy that for a second I don't either - I remember hearing back in 2003 when he was concerned that he was going to be sent down when he wasn't hitting - and his average wasn't too bad either. This is really a slap in the face to someone who resigned with his own team for significantly less than the market value. This and the other trades should say volumes to potential free angents about the Marlins' loyalty (rather, lack thereof). With this there is now ZERO chance of Alex coming back. I don't think we even resign Easley, either... Is there anyone still convinced this isn't a firesale?
  17. :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead "Salary reduction" You mean "market correction". :confused
  18. Unbelievable. So was your response - let's try and be a little more respectful...
  19. Chris Ashby for catching depth Niles, I think is only 24/25 and plays the infield where we lack bodies. Going by memory here, but I think Drew Niles is 27/28... Chris Ashby is even older than that, but he plays C/1B/OF/P.
  20. The name Geoff Getz(sp?) rings a bell That would be Geoff Goetz, a lefthanded reliever (usually) who could throw 94-96. The Marlins liked him a lot, but if I remember, he had some shoulder problems and never was the same after that.
  21. A .244 average doesn't sound thriving to me. The article is written badly - he hit .244 with the Marlins last year. The article never actually mentions his stats...
  22. Welcome Big Dog, Mike's future has been discussed in a number of recent threads, including: http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...showtopic=52984 http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...showtopic=52838 Feel free to contribute, and enjoy your stay at MarlinsBaseball.com!
