  1. Because short term benefits become long term detriments. No, they don't. It's a promotion, buying a seat at a ballgame isn't like buying a car. This is but one of many promotions they will do all year long. Probably next year, too. Fans in '15, if they're any good aren't going to expect the same deal they got in '13. Butts in the seats. Simple as that. An empty seat can't buy anything. An occupied seat might. Revenue. Revenue. Revenue. Don't know why anyone would object to more of it. Sorry you are wrong. Giving seats away for one game is fine. Giving tickets away for all games, just upsets people paying full price. If I had $75 tickets and saw that the marlins were giving tickets away, I'd stop paying. I'd go to games for free and pay way LESS in concessions than I was already paying in ticket prices. Ticket sales are 100% profit. Concessions have a cost. Marlins make more money selling a $20 ticket than on someone spending $20 on hot dogs.
  2. Haven't heard anything about HHH retiring. More likely he gets the win here after Lesnar beat him at Summerslam. Yeah, with Lesnar re-signing and likely facing The Rock next year at WM (at least, as of now), you could make the argument for Lesnar to win, too. I suppose he could "retire" just to get off screen for a while. Many wrestlers are fired/retire/etc... and return at a later date. They can always have HHH beat Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31 in his last match. It doesn't make sense for Lesnar to lose the match. I can see him losing a match at Survivor Series to Sheamus or Punk after Rock interferes. That would put over Sheamus while fueling the Rock vs Brock match.
  3. Stipulation for Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar: No Holds Barred, HHH's career on the line. Are there plans for Triple H to retire? Considering they just resigned Lesnar, it makes more sense to have Lesnar beat HHH. It would make him look even bigger and that could set up matches with Rock, CM Punk and Sheamus down the line.
  4. How does Punk need to be put over? He's been over for a few years now. Punk's reputation doesn't die one bit if he loses to the Undertaker. Taker's rep takes a sizable hit if the undefeated streak goes. There is more money to be made with Punk winning than with Taker winning. A win for Punk puts him in the Austin/Rock/Cena category IMO.
  5. Taker's winning Mania. It's already decided. You don't go 20-0 to lose. Cena's gonna win the title, Ziggler's gonna cash in the money in the bank after either Del Rio or Swagger wins (and I think it'll be Del Rio). The Shield loses to Show/Sheamus/Orton leading to them eventually breaking up and becoming solo wrestlers. Oh, and Jericho wins the IC Title. I think it's also time for Cesaro to lose his US Championship. There are rumors that Undertaker wants to lose to Punk so he can retire. If he's hanging it up, then put someone else over. I agree with your other predictions, with the exception of the shield. I think Shield wins and either Orton or Sheamus turns. There are simply too many good guys and not enough heels in the upper levels right now.
  6. Imagine The Shield interfere and cost Taker the streak then Punk reveals himself to be the leader of the group... Or the other way around...
  7. I love it. I just wished he beat Kane. They need to make punk look like a real threat. I actually hope they end the streak.
  8. Bully Ray turned heel and joined Aces & Eights last night at Lockdown. Wasn't he fighting them off for almost a year? Don't they have everyone but Sting and Angle?
  9. Drink the Firestone XV yet? Someone told me it's falling off a bit... Yes I did. I had the XV and the XVI back to back during the superbowl. It was enjoyable, but I don't know if I'd buy it again. I just picked up some Maine Beer Company Lil One and Jack's Abby Hoponious Union (bottled 10 days ago). In more important news http://philly.thedrinknation.com/articles/read/9984-Where-to-Find-Pliny-the-Younger-in-Philadelphia-2013-Edition-# I think you might be able to get Pliny the Younger during your trip. Wow. The question is whether I want to drive out of my way from NY to Philly, out to have to head to Cambridge the same day, and then also wait in line for a while. Is that really a question? Of course you should. More dates will be added. I'd keep checking that website. I'm sure they'll add either March 9th or 10th as well.

  11. I recently traded for some Surly Abrasive, a great double IPA. A friend of mine is bringing me a bottle of Hopslam this weekend, so I'll do a head to head.
  12. Ladder on a Ladder match. Maybe a dildo on a pole match?
  13. The way things are going right now I wouldn't be surprised with a: Kofi and R-Truth vs Team Rhode Scholars Could be a singles between Truth and Sandow, and Kofi and Cody be part of a fatal 4-way for US championship with Miz and Cesaro EDIT* just remembered Kofi and Cody are probably in the IC title picture so maybe they'll head into a match with Barrett, and Miz-Cesaro singles for USC. and a boring Sheamus-Ryback-Orton vs Shield If they make the Sheamus-Ryback-Orton vs Shield some sort of gimmick match (Hell in a Cell or Street Fight) it could be entertaining. Look how good the TLC match was.
  14. Why did Jerry Lawler give away that Undertaker showed up at a house show? It would have been much bigger surprise if he just shows up next week. After hearing Punk's promo, its clear it'll be Punk vs Undertaker. So far this is what likely what we have: Rock vs Cena Lesnar vs HHH (could be awesome) Undertaker vs Punk Swagger vs Del Rio Sheamus vs Barret
  15. We'll probably find out tonight. Hopefully, Undertaker will attack Cena and we'll get Cena vs Undertaker at mania.
  16. Undertaker returned at a house show last night! Looks like he'll be around for wrestlemania. Hopefully, he'll make his return during the Vince vs Paul Heyman street fight and we'll get Lesnar vs Undertaker.
  17. Remember, there's 6 weeks between EC and WM, so he has time, at least. Rock and Punk gotta finish up their feud so it can be Twice in a Lifetime at WM, and then Taker can come out next Monday and challenge Punk or IDK, something ... Cena, Ryback and Sheamus vs the Sheild was announced for Elimination Chamber. If the match doesn't take place in the chamber, I won't bother getting the PPV. It's not going to be in the chamber, nor will it be "elimination rules," sadly. Mainly because they "don't want 5 of their top stars getting eliminated in a match," obviously the 6th remaining by himself, which would have been Cena, most likely [cause, you know ... yeah]. Let's see if he agrees with putting Shield members over ... I'd rather have it be war game rules. It would still be 3 on 3, but only one person would take the pin or submit. We'll see if they announce it tomorrow. Its really a terrible match if they have to tag in.
  18. Cena, Ryback and Sheamus vs the Sheild was announced for Elimination Chamber. If the match doesn't take place in the chamber, I won't bother getting the PPV.
  19. Finally got my hands on a case of Troegs Nugget Nectar! Has anyone seen Hopslam in Florida?
  20. Well word has it that it might become a triple threat match. With Punk. Probably only if Taker can't go. If Taker cant go, he should just retire. Punk vs Cena vs Rock and HHH vs Lesnar is just meh.
  21. And Lesnar returned and laid out Vince. HHH next week most likely. Maybe they'll set up a swerve and we wont get HHH vs Lesnar, but instead Lesnar vs Undertaker. Or we could get some sort of Team Heyman (Lesnar and Shield) vs Team McMahon (HHH, Ryback, Orton and Sheamus) in a hell in a cell for control of the WWE.
  22. This is why I don't get most internet wrestling fans, you're not thinking about this from Vince's POV. Tell me, if you were in Vince's shoes and you had the privilege of either choosing the option of setting up Rock vs. Cena II, a match that sure to bring the most money and the most ratings and most PPV buys for WrestleMania or choosing one of the the countless other options that will bring less money, less buys. But more nostalgia. One of the choices that only the most hardcore of wrestling fans would want. Are you telling me that you would seriously pick an option that would bring you less money, ratings and PPV buys? If you say "yes", then that would, in my opinion at least, exemplify why you are just a fan and not a promoter. Vince has more to worry about then just the hardcore wrestling fans. He has the casual fans, he has the nerds. In short he has to worry about entertaining EVERY fan possible, not just the hardcore fan. Whether you like it or not, he did the smart move out of the options available. If you don't like it, change the channel, I'm sure TNA or ROH would love to have you as a viewer. But quit complaining when you know deep down Vince made the smartest decision for his business. I think you can argue that Rock vs Lesnar or Rock vs Undertaker are bigger matches since we just had Rock vs Cena. Rock vs Lesnar and Cena vs Undertaker would probably have a higher buy rate than Rock vs Cena 2 and HHH vs Lesnar 2.
  23. My hope is that they get Punk into the match and make it a triple threat. I assume Rock will defend the title at the Chamber? I could see Cena as the guest ref. Punk vs Cena vs Rock and Lesnar vs Undertaker would be two pretty awesome matches. Lesnar signed for two more years, so hopefully that means we'll be spared of a rematch with HHH.
  24. Better chance for buildup, that's for sure. 8 PPVs would be awesome. Rumble, Mania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series obviously stay. Wouldn't mind keeping Elimination Chamber but drop Hell in a Cell (that match should only be used for special occasions like the HHH/Taker match last year). Keep TLC or Extreme Rules, drop the other. Drop Money in the Bank. Keep Night of Champions. I think I've got it down to 9 there ... I suppose drop one other unnecessary one. I'd move the Money in the Bank match back to Wrestlemania and just have one.
  25. - TNA has cut back to four PPVs for 2013: Genesis, Lockdown, Slammiversary, and Bound for Glory. - WWE has reportedly signed Indie star El Generico - WWE has released Trent Baretta. I wish the WWE scaled back to 8 PPVs. I'd be more likely to order all of them, if they were further apart.
