  1. He already did (assuming he didn't die before the 1st).
  2. Obsessive fan of anything that starts with Star or Lord.
  3. R.I.P. So many legends have left us already this year.
  4. You removed the Locker Room forum on the day of yenta's birthday? She won the "Best Locker Room Poster" at the awards more than once. Nice timing, Admin. :|
  5. If you aren't aware yet, two films about el Che are going to be released later this year. Both films will star Benicio del Toro as Che Guevara. Their titles are, "The Argentine" and "Guerilla." I don't know yet if this will have a positive or negative effect on the growing affection for this terrorist. I'm thinking it will be neither, but Che fanboys will perhaps turn these movies into some kind of anthem. Although I strongly doubt that will be Steven Soderbergh's intention.

    Early Voting

Edwards was probably the least bi-partisan candidate of the entire lot. It was absolutely scary how far left he was. That and he was just way too angry all the time.
  10. 25 hours remaining until the votes officially close. Please get your nominations is ASAP!
  11. Yes, and he wasn't even gay... I believe they hate "f**-enablers" even more.
  12. how often to horrible moves get a second film? I am sure in the economic scheme there is definitely a way for this to work or else the studio wouldn't invest into a second movie. This would be the 22nd in the James Bond series. It's the most profitable franchies ever (adjusted for inflation). Casino Royale received lots of acclaim. To answer your question, horrible movies often do get sequels if their predecessor was profitable enough. Casino Royale was actually pretty freaking great and definitely revitalized the series.
  13. Bond 22 officially has a title and this is it.
  14. I think Atonement and Sweeney Todd will be the big winners. Neither one was that great to me, they were both decent but not exceptional. I don't get what you mean. Sweeney Todd only has 3 nominations (none of which is best picture). Two of them are directly competing with Atonement. How can they both be big winners?
  15. I finally found the indy movie theater in Tallahassee (I always knew of it, but didn't realize they showed the smaller flicks). I went to see this movie at 5pm today, got there at around 4:45 and there was a line of at least 75 (older) people at the ticket booth. Needless to say, I didn't even bother. The old people are out in droves this time of year.

Put me in team yankeefanbobbobleftymabdul. Unfortunately, penguino will 'win' this argument because he never loses. He's the penguinoBot. My rating: Juno 9/10 Well, as a consequence of me feeling having been treated unfairly I'm going to be toning down my activity in this subforum considerably. After the awards, I'll just update my list in the film list thread. :thumbup Because of my comments? You may do as you please but you must know that I was only joking around when I typed it. You're a pretty darn good poster on this forum; always sharing your unique view on a movie with us. Which makes it pretty easy to gang up on you sometimes. I happen to side with you more than you think. I am probably speaking for all of us when I say that.

    Cloverfield

ugh, I don't think I could sit through 2 hours of camcorder. It's actually only 74 minutes long. I hear the credits scroll extremely slow; lengthing the movie another 12 minutes.

  19. Genres will be the focus of this year's "AFI's 100 Years" series, announced Thursday.Film org will count down the top 10 films in 10 selected categories; "AFI's 10 Top 10" will tally up the institute's top picks in animation, fantasy, science fiction, gangster, Western, sports, romantic comedy, courtroom drama, mystery and epic film genres. "AFI's 10 Top 10" will be revealed in a live CBS telecast in June. AFI distributed a ballot Thursday with 50 films per genre to a jury of more than 1,500 leaders from the film community, including helmers, thesps, critics and historians. Only feature-length American films will be eligible for the lists, and AFI has asked jurors to consider critical recognition, awards record, popularity over time, historical significance and cultural impact in their voting. "We look forward to catalyzing a national conversation. The ultimate goal of this program is to drive audiences to discover and rediscover the classics of American film," said AFI prexy-CEO Bob Gazzale. Films on the ballot for consideration include "Pinocchio" and "Shrek" for animation; "King Kong" (1933) and "The Lord of the Rings" for fantasy; "The War of the Worlds" (1953) and "The Matrix" for sci-fi; "Scarface" (1932) and "The Departed" for gangster pic; "The Searchers" and "Unforgiven" for Western; "The Pride of the Yankees" and "Seabiscuit" for sports movie; "It Happened One Night" and "My Best Friend's Wedding" for romantic comedy; "Witness for the Prosecution" and "A Few Good Men" for courtroom drama; "Sherlock Holmes" and "The Usual Suspects" for mystery; and "Ben-Hur" (1959) and "Braveheart" for epics. -Variety
  20. :lol :lol :lol Marcellus Wiley on ESPNEWS just said "playing for 3 coaches in a 3 year span is like learning 3 languages. Spanish, French, and Cuban" Classic. :lol
  21. This movie would never come out of Hollywood. I don't think you an get more arty than this. I was referring to the production quality as opposed to the story itself. Camera angles, scene cuts, lighting, film speed... All pretty standard. That's what I was referring to. I disagree with you here. Perhaps its less arty than the story or the writing, but it is definitely not standard Hollywood.
