Reynolds can also play CF though so you can't really look just at Freeman and Olsen for comparables. That's a premium position where offensive production, especially at Reynolds level, is much more scarce.

I understand but that just proves my point. Center field talent is more scarce therefore more expensive. They’ve been so focused on upgrading offense through center field and having middling first base production instead of just upgrading another position to an elite level and then having a defense first center fielder. I would rather have Olson/Freeman at first and DLC in center than Reynolds in center and The crap we had at first base last year. Cause make no mistake, copper is passable as a bench/platoon player but he isn’t good at all, and first base is a major weakness of the team (along with catcher, 3B, SS…basically every spot on the team that isn’t 2B and maybe left field/DH)

  2. They’re talking about how the pirates and Reynolds were $50M apart in negotiations (pirates offered $70M and he wanted $120). I’m assuming that would be in the 5-7 year realm as far as length. Kinda seems a little high when you have Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson getting just a little bit more than that. Olson and freeman are ELITE where as Reynolds is just very good. If it was a free agent signing then sure, it’s just money. But this would be trading their best assets AND THEN hoping to sign him to a deal like that. To me that’s worse and near-sighted. They should have gone hard after Olson last year if they’d have been willing to pay something in that realm.

  3. They need to keep Tua off the field for a long time or his career (and life) could be in serious jeopardy. This Hamlin situation puts into perspective just how dangerous that sport is and you realize how quickly you’d trade your health over the sport itself. Tua should get out while he still can. Concussions are no joke!

I’m biased because I announced most of his high school games and know his family, but I hope the Triston Casas rumors are true.

Uff I’d be all for that, but no way the Sox trade him (barring a Eury/Sandy level overpay which shouldn’t happen). As of now he’s a cornerstone player in their mind.

Not necessarily. They could move Jazz to CF and then acquire another middle infielder.

CF is important but getting offensive upgrades by any means necessary is also important.

Exactly, Philly proved this year that a very good offensive team can win even with terrible defense. You won’t win with a team that has a bunch of dudes slashing .225/.309/.395 but happen to each be 3 WAR players because they play good defense. All that team does is exactly what this past years team does. Limit runs, but lose 1-0 and 2-1 regardless because they can’t score. THEY. NEED. HITTERS.

I don't think they would do their best to acquire a real CF if they had that thinking in mind.

Jazz is in the lineup anyway so what they need is an offensive upgrade that can come from any place. CF was one of the thinnest talent pools which is gonna require trading from (and thus weakening) the starting pitching , while middle infield was crawling with options to sign. if switching him to center was an option then do that and sign a free agent infielder so you can keep your once in a decade group of pitching together and make a run. Then when you’ve filled the roster enough and you’re “one bat” away then you can bite the bullet and trade from the pitching. But that one bat needs to be a Juan Soto type bat that immediately makes a massive difference and gets you over the hump

Longoria signed with the DBacks for 4M+1M in incentives. I guess we can’t match that lol

Fucking infuriating! For that kind of money you sign the dude to play third, move segura to Short and put Rojas where he belongs; on the bench as a utility guy. He signed on with the diamondbacks so there’s no way competitiveness of the team was a factor.

Idk when this team will learn that your record at the end of the year has more to do with who you have penciled in to back up your starter when he gets hurt than who you have penciled in to start in the first place. Signing him would have made this team deeper/better and it should have happened.

Yea I think it would be a strong statement to move on from Rojas.

They should’ve done it a couple seasons ago when his value was high. That good fielding middle infielder with a so/so bat kind of player ALWAYS turns up in free agency (Kendrick/Harrison/Iglesias/etc). If a competitor was willing to overpay at the 2021 deadline for reinforcements (as was rumored) then they should have done it. It’s obvious he isn’t a genuine part of this teams future

A 2-ish WAR player. If we replace all of our garbage with just average position players, we'd be in it. This needs to be the first of many more moves

Dude that’s the issue I have. The pitching is good enough that an average MLB lineup would put them at least in the realm of competition and they haven’t done that.

Craig is much more reliable than that Texas' lion, he didn't Swings and Mishes this time but it's really weird he didn't say anything about this signing.

I think it’s cause he basically doesn’t know anything lol

Haha lmao. Honestly I don't look Dominican at all, or I don't look like what most people expect Dominicans to look like. I'd say yes I do look more like Andy Barnard than any Dominican. But yes my mother is Dominican, and I look like her.

No for sure I have plenty of Dominican friends who look Spaniard lol glad to have a better picture of you Nard dog lol

  12. They need to go sign Longoria asap to a deal similar to Corey Kluber’s. The guy is exactly the kind of player they need in that clubhouse and On the field. He’s not the player he once was but he’s still a easy upgrade at the position that won’t cost you prospect capital or much money.

I feel like it will be Avisail Garcia and rogers to the reds for Nick Senzel with us still paying all of Garcia’s salary. Her reasoning for the trade will be that’s the only call she got so she took the best deal.

Uff that would go down as top 5 worst trades. You’re better off releasing him if you’re gonna pay the salary anyway. No reason to also include a trade piece like Rogers for a sub-replacement outfielder
