  1. This situation somewhat reminds me of the John Rocker situation. Granted, his inflammatory remarks were in regard to another fan base and not a political comment but I think this situation is getting blown way out of proportion and a lot of people are losing the context of what Ozzie said and who the man himself is. John Rocker was a red neck who hated everyone that wasn't exactly like him. Ozzie isn't that at all.

As was said, Fidel is like a cockroach in more ways than one but Ozzie admires that he hasn't died yet and I say so what? He is a baseball manager and not someone of any geo political concern. But I will say that anyone who listened to Ozzie speak at length, knows that he is anything but dumb but smart people do dumb things and to raise the name of Castro in Miami and not have it be an insult isn't the brightest of moves.

Tomorrow's apology should suffice and the good people of Miami that are of Cuban ancestory should accept it and move on with their lives as the Marlins look to be a fun team to watch this year in a stadium that guarantees baseball everyday

  2. So forensic experts deciding that it isn't Zimmerman screaming has no bearing on anything? And my mind is already made up about this? At least I'm pretty sure that Zimmerman will be brought to justice since he shot an unarmed kid in cold blood even if it takes a while

  3. Also, PPP says that a greater percentage of Republicans are committed to voting for Romney than Democrats for Obama.

So I think polling data shows Jimmy to be wrong on both accounts.

    A. america is at least 20 years from voting mormon

    B. "i like firing people" will haunt him severely, not to mention its no secret that romney made his millions in gutting companies and moving jobs to other countries

    C. romney care is pretty unpopular with republicans...and now they are going to vote for him?

    D. obama has alot of problems with his centrist presidency, but with the economy turning around, bin laden is among those now dead, and OWS being more liberal and bigger than anyone could have imagined it being

i think these factors are among the many while obama will probably win pretty handily over romney or anyone other clown the GOP runs

Yes, those are some weaknesses of Romney's candidacy but you are still neglecting to look at the poll numbers indicating that Romney is far from a certain loss in the general election. You can write up a list of of Obama's weaknesses too (and there's plenty) that will cost him votes.

That doesn't change the fact that right now Romney is doing better with independent voters and is still finding a large demographic of Republican voters (~88%) committed to voting for him in November. This is essentially means that you are overstating the impact of some of those weakness. The "firing people" comment in particular is something that I would label as trifling in terms of the big picture.

Things could change when Obama starts heavily campaigning, but at this point in time Romney certainly has a legitimate shot at winning the general. Just Monday there was a Quinnipiac poll released showing Romney edging Obama in Florida with more expected turnout for GOP voters. Obama does have the edge in FL independents, though. Stuff like Bain Capital, Romneycare, and Mormonism are legitimate angles to attack Romney, but they certainly haven't had dire political consequences at this point in time.

obama's biggest weakness is that he stayed decided centrist as the country shifted left when we first rejected bush and then mccain and then i ignore the polling because this far off, it means very, very little and there could be significant changes around the world that will influence the election here

now, granted...the republican base will vote R because they hate seeing a black man running the show and for little other reason than that(although the made up list will be long and varied) and i think romney will do ok among independents because he is indeed a moderate socially(when he isnt flip flopping and giving the least direct answers in human history)

i expect romney to take florida in the general election because things got real there under his presidency and FL is a very conservative area anyway

and while romney may be strong now, those things have come back to bite him before. let us not forget that romney is not a career politician for one reason and one reason alone..he isnt very good at winning elections...but on the bright side for him, in its infinite wisdom, corporations are now living people and he has a ton of money backing him(i thank god enough people in this country have sense and have backed obama financially)

i believe at this point and time, obama will win in a landslide over any of the republicans and as long as the GOP backs the 1% and refuses to compromise on anything, the more and more left this country will shift no matter how much the far right screams for attention

  5. romney is running ads here in massachusetts on how consistent he is and at one point states "ive been in the same church for 40 years"

yes, mitt...you have been in the same church for that long but here is the thing...you believe magic underwear will protect you and that native americans are one of the lost tribes of israel and so on and so forth

and while i suppose mormonism isnt really all that much more crazy than the other religions...there is no way realistically that a a big enough portion of the conservative vote and independents to get behind romney which is what it would take to beat obama, no matter how much the GOP tries to stonewall the economy
