This team should be very close to make big trade with Orioles and to hang in the balance for long time, it should be the reason Mish keep saying they would make a big trade.

Yes. That seems to be exactly what happened.

Social media gives you the worst reactions to basically everything so no surprise there. In the brief period of time I actually tried to use Twitter for this site, the replies were typically garbage.

And I know I just referred to Twitter comments to make a point but there are so many people who read 3 twitter troll comments and then they take that to heart as if it's an opinion shared by the world.

To be fair when you say "most fans" in relation to Marlins fans, you're referring to like 10 people.

Sure. And I'm going by Twitter comments which is mostly casual/less knowledgeable fans giving knee jerk reactions. But they do generally have the same reactions.

You should still always listen in case you get a massive overpay offer.

And the fact that they haven't traded him tells me they're steadfast on an overpay and aren't actually trying to get rid of him which is what most fans don't seem to understand... if true.

He can't resist the urge to be a "hero" to the fans. He'd be wise to stay on the plan to not speak on rumors anymore. Nothing good comes from it.

Probably too nice of a guy for that side of the job tbh.

I guess that's probably what I am misremembering then.

Looking through all his replies of now Mish basically just said he knew of a significant trade that they were working on and that he guessed it or a similar trade would eventually get done, that to be patient, almost just reassuring fans that Bendix is actually working on things even if we don't see them. I appreciate him letting us know that Bendix is doing "something" but then it becomes a whole bunch of guessing and hoping and probably raising expectations too much. We would have all died at a return of Joey Ortiz for Luzardo.

  8. You know what I see as a problem with Mish too, or maybe not his problem but it becomes his problem... he's very much now about "I don't speak on just rumors anymore" but he also still engages with his followers and he'll get roped into, like a yes or no question thing, and someone will be like "Craig please tell me are they working on any trades?" and he'll be like "Yes" and then someone else will be like "am I gonna hate the trade?" and he'll be like "probably not" or something like that and then everyone lumps it all together and makes a tweet saying "Craig Mish says Marlins working on a trade that fans are gonna love". And then he falls into that hole and its not good.

Right which would be a big trade. Problem is I recall him telling a fan that it'd be a trade that would make marlins fans happy. Did I imagine that?

I think I remember this too, or something similar, I'll check.

Circling back to Mish, didnt he claim that some big trade was on the cusp of happening a few weeks back?

Too lazy to look it up but I recall this being something he was leading onto.  If so yet again where Mish makes up shit and has no factual base of information.   Par for the course.

He is a FA after this coming season which is why he's available. Not the kind of guy that a cheap franchise would acquire.

It's exactly the type of guy they should be acquiring if they want to try and win this year. It'll be a rental but it would improve us this year and give us a chance. Somewhere I saw the Marlins projected for 81 wins, one more offensive addition could literally make a huge difference in playoffs or not.

We can look at it purely from a numbers/performance standpoint separately from a "good will" standpoint.

On paper, there are legit reasons he didn't deserve the figure he was trying to get.....and clearly the arb panel agreed with those on-paper reasons.

Would it have been a good gesture to just give him the additional amount for a few reasons such as the CF switch, overall team morale, etc. - sure.  But from purely a numbers standpoint, it's a valid approach.

That said, I'd agree, they clearly have a pattern of being cheap and seem to have no intention of following through with their "spend when it's time" promise.
