  1. I'll probably bust whether they sweep or not.
  2. I would love for him to replicate that last start... about a dozen times, while wearing a Marlins uniform.
  3. I'll still defend the Chen signing, there were no signs of him being this much of a bust when we pursued him. Can't wait for everyone to say they knew this was coming (not you penguino, people in general)
  4. Yeah you're probably right but my biggest reason why it wouldn't happen would be the GMs, or at least one of them, refusing to agree to the deal on time as a strategic move. In this case it'd be the Marlins acquiring the better player (at the moment) so you'd think the Phillies would owe it to themselves to delay the deal long enough to prevent Hellickson from being able to start for the Marlins. I dunno, just thinking out loud.
  5. I've always wondered if this is actually possible. There's probably a list of reasons why it wouldn't ever happen but I guess it *could* happen.
  6. This although that's turned a corner lately, the sweep of the Reds a prime example. If we can keep it up at least those games will have evened out a bit.
  7. Combination of they pitched well and our bats were asleep. Doesn't feel like they dominated us because we also squandered a couple opportunities.
  8. Chen hasn't looked good all season outside of a couple starts so we haven't lost anything yet. Yes I know he's potentially better than any replacement but at the moment we haven't gone backwards. If Cosart wins tomorrow you can argue that he gave us a win that Chen wouldn't have.
  9. Unless they're banking on getting acquiring someone this week and pulled Chen from this start because he was facing the Phillies back to back. If you look at this way they can cross their fingers with Cosart for one start, get someone by the weekend, and overall skip Chen twice at the least.
  10. Tender elbow, elbow sprain... those are the words out of Donnie's mouth but he was still very wishy washy and beating around the bush. I'm sticking to the phantom injury theory. I see nothing conclusive and it's all too mysterious.
  11. Yes you're right but are you gonna judge this team on the whole season or on the last five games?
  12. We were like on a 9-3 run heading into this game, it just so happens that we've alternated the last five games, look at the whole picture please.
  13. Let Chen pitch the top of the ninth for fun.
  14. Try to watch the games and not give up in the sixth inning so often.
  15. Agreed but it hasn't been six here and five there... Its been twenty seconds here, thirty seconds there, a minute here, forty seconds there and all in all you've only knocked six minutes off the game. Not worth it.
  16. I agree with all this but the way Manfred worded it was something like "ohh it's the eighth inning and your pitcher is struggling but sorry you can't take him out because you've already made a pitching change earlier, sorry, deal with the shitty pitcher." ...fuck that.
  17. Also, while I like the theory of pace of play initiatives, he's making so much stink about it over six freaking minutes. Who cares about shaving off six minutes off a three hour game? If you're not knocking off thirty minutes its not making a real difference.
  18. Agreed. It's stupid too because apparently a pitching change makes the idiots wanna look away because it takes too long? That's so stupid. If you're actually paying attention you'd want that pitching change to make the game more competitive. He shouldn't be making the game easier.
  19. This would such a shitty one to lose
  20. Just being funny since he literally had nowhere to go.
  21. Horrible idea. He said relievers are getting so good that it limits offense in the late innings. Why are we punishing relievers for being good? Why are we helping hitters who aren't good enough to beat these relievers? It's stupid. Friday night when Phelps struggled in the 7th and Barraclough came in to bail us out of the inning... Manfred wants to stop that??? Force the struggling pitcher to stay in the game to purposely create more offense? That's ridiculous
