  1. Thinking of going up either tomorrow or Sunday to see the marlins practice. Any idea what time things get going..and when they end? I imagine everything will be on the backfields..
  2. Any players going to be there? I'd expect them to be...but was hoping for a mention of it in the article.
  3. I'm doing the Marlins contest thing again this year...and so far have around 12,000 ballots filled out. And haven't turned them in yet, so that'll give Hanley a nice boost.
  4. This has been crazy. Who would have thought?! Food for thought: We won our first world series in 1997. Six years later, we won it again in 2003. Six years later, in 2009.......
  5. I watched him play in Jupiter several times last year...he's one heck of a player. One of the nicest ballplayers I've met, too..
  6. I was there as well. Loved the big ovation Hermida got when he finally caught one.. He was good sport, and tipped his cap . Haha.
  7. Are you on SportsCollectors.net or SportsGraphing.com? I have been a member of both for awhile. Yep. It's posted on SCN. I have to get the ok from Alan to post it on SG...but he won't even respond, which ticks me off. Already sent him a PM and an email...just sent him another PM.
  8. Not expecting much interest on this board..but thought I'd at least throw it out there. ----------------------------------------- Just talked with Whitey this afternoon and got it confirmed. Right now I'm just taking confirmations on this. I have to have 160 items (this will be advertised in several other places) for this to take place. I will not take items until I can get 160 items confirmed...then you can send the items in. These are the current rates that he charges TTM, but he gave me a discount on 8x10s and on jerseys/bats. He also gave me a good price for inscriptions. You will receive a photo of your item being signed (by email). This form of proof adds a lot of value to the item (just check ebay's completed listings). Prices: Your Ball: $50 Your 8x10 flat or under (includes SI's): $40 Your 11x14, 16x20+ flat: $50 Jersey/Bats/Cleats: $60 Inscriptions: $10 My Ball: $63 My 8x10: $43 My 11x14 or 12x18: $59 (Includes shipping and handling with delivery confirmation) Mr. Ford reserves the right to refuse any item. Mr. Ford will not inscribe "Chairman of the Board" All send-in items must include a SASE. --------------------------------------------------- Suggested inscriptions include: HOF '74 (I will ask if this will be free) "Slick" (his nickname) '61 Cy Young Most Wins by a Yankee P .790 Winning % (best in the 20th Century!) 8x All-Star 6x World Series Champ '61 Babe Ruth Award '61 WS MVP ---------- If you would like to reserve/commit to a spot, please post which item(s) you would like. I'm not making any money on this...meeting him is enough for me.
  9. Mannnn....sounds nice. Hope he's not spending too much of his money, at this young of an age. If he just bought a 7-bedroom'er, he's going to have a lot of college tuition to be paid someday. This guy's livin' the life. Superstar baseball player. Fame. Multi-Million dollar house. Land Rover Sport, Escalade, Mercedes...and I imagine a few other cars that I'm forgetting.
  10. It would be pretty cool..... I'd love to see him play here for a year...but don't know if that is really the best idea for the team. Talk about a veteran for these guys to look up to and learn from, though...
  11. I watched Logan play in-person many times this year. He's a helluva ballplayer, and I can't wait for him to get up to the bigs. He's really got some superb talent. He's also a great guy...very friendly. One thing that I noticed about Logan: from all the games that I saw....he never had a bad at-bat. Never popped up on the first pitch, never broke a bat, and never was late on a fastball. I saw Gaby play last year....and he never stood out from the rest. Logan does. I'd really like to see him stay at 1B...maybe teach Gaby to play a little LF. Although Logan is probably a good bit more mobile.
  12. Geez..in the beginning, camera captured somebody that didn't have much of their costume on.... That's why I've never been a big fan of cameras in the locker-room...sucks for whoever it was. That was an awesome video, though! Haha.
  13. I know he's another year (at least) out...but what happens to Gaby once Logan Morrison's ready? I'm really high on this kid.....amazing.
  14. Keep it the way it is. Don't fix what's not broken.
  15. This kid is such a stud. 8-8, ties a marlins record. He was 4-4 with a walk last night, so basically 5-5. He's making it look easy. I'm almost certain that he'll be a starter next year. Hermida and Willingham are both arbitration eligible, which means that we're seeing the last of them. Same with Jacobs, Amezaga, and Gregg(
