  1. Useless without pictures or videos. Did I miss them on the site? Yeah right. No pics...didn't happen.
  2. Playing hurt and possibly causing long term damage and reducing your short term and long term effectiveness < being a wussie Of course this is the argument. It makes sense and it's the logical answer but personally, I would rather see him be a man and say "F*ck you Fredi, I'm playing". A gimpy Hanley is still better than a limber Bonifacio. There is no tomorrow.
  3. I know groin sprains can be bothersome. I've had them. And I know the team has alot invested in Hanley but I prefer the good old days when players just played until they couldn't walk. Pete Rose never took himself out of a game because of hamstring pull. Ripken never missed a game because of a tight groin. Nolan Ryan didn't miss a start because of an oblique strain. Bob Gibson pitched 17 years with elbow arthritis. Again , I know the team is protecting their investment but we're turning today's players into a bunch of wussies.
  4. Is our SP worse than last years at this time? I think part of the reason Boni/offense gets crap is last year we had terrible starters yet we won by hitting and people feel the same should happen. Probably right. We were smacking alot of HRs in the first half last year. We only had Nolasco pitching well and Olsen eating innings but the last three rotation spots were pretty bad. It seems like this year though our staff is giving up a lot of big innings: multi-run homers, two-out rallies, etc. Last year at least the long-ball bailed us out in some close games but this year it seems like we're letting the games get too far out of hand. Just my impression.
  5. Thanks, mountainfish :thumbup Hopefully it will turn this team's fortune around too This is the part where Puma goes "Yeah, Rab made it for me. He's super awesome." You are a talented man. :notworthy
  6. ^^ I love that sig Puma. My son and I cracked up watching that during the game the other night. I'm personally bringing back my old sig from last year. Maybe Nolan Ryan can exorcize the demons like he did to Robin Ventura!
  7. If you know anything about Beinfest its that he doesn't usually go for the quick fix except maybe to pick up a situational player here or there if the team is competitive. If he sees the season as washed up he's going to look to next year or the year after. After a few years of bounty the farm is going into a bit of famine as far as pitching goes, so I expect the FO will deal some dead weight by the ASB for whatever pitching they can get and go heavy for pitching in the draft. This team is set to peak in a couple of years even though we all would love for them to win a WS every 6 years.
  8. Argh, all these K's. That's what this team is all about.
  9. Zep's "Kashmir" vs Queen's "Innuendo" Which do you prefer? I'm both a Zep fan and a Queen fan, but I'd go with Kasmir, even though I'm more of a "Whole Lotta Love" kinda guy. Stairway is cool too. I'd probably take "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Killer Queen" over both those choices. Best Zep song is "Ten Years Gone".
  10. It's been pretty craptacular for several years and has now become unwatchable. If Family Guy is the alternative, I'll take the Simpsons anytime. I do not understand how people like Family Guy. I agree Family Guy is stupid but I think they should have ended the Simpsons after the last movie.
  11. But you are blonde right? I am blonde but I am not stupid :thumbup . Just kidding!
  12. Can you disable it for game threads and awards night?
  13. The Zep I like ALL kinds of music but really, come on. Pitbull is not in the same league as Zeppelin. Not a valid comparison.
  14. Please dont, you will regret it later and he will wish you never did it. leave it natural. really? i've never heard a dude say he regretted being circumcised although I have known a few older guys who got circ'd later in life. I don't htink it's such a bad thing but if you choose to go natural that's ok too. Hotcorner. I think maybe you should read the American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement on circumscision from 1999 and reaffirmed in 2005, AAP Circ Policy
  15. Do we have any open 40-man spots? We could transfer Tank to the 60 Day DL, and we have a lot of waive-able players if we need space. David Davidson Jai Miller Hayden Penn Andy Gonzalez Brett Carroll We're fine with the 40 man. The problem comes when Thompson, West, Winters, Morrison, Sinkbiel, Cousins, Raynor, Ceda, and maybe Jeff Allison, Greg Burns, Brad Davis, or Kris Harvey, etc, all have to be added to the 40 man after this season. It's going to be brutal. Well, I was just thinking about it with Owens. Like I said, there were reports of the FO being extremely angry with him when he first got suspended, I was posing the question if they would even have waived a guy for him. I don't think they would waive Carroll or Penn for him. Maybe not even Miller. They were pretty pissed at Carlos Martinez too for his general insubordination and fatness but they kept him.
  16. Didn't Sheffield just recently say that if he's elected to Cooperstown he's going in as a Marlin? He can say it but its not his choice. Who decides what team logo will be used on Hall of Fame plaques? The choice of which team?s logo appears on a player?s plaque is the Museum's decision, though we always consider the wishes of an inductee. As a history Museum, it's important that the logo be emblematic of the historical accomplishments of that player's career. A player's election to the Hall of Fame is a career achievement, and as such, every team for whom he played is listed on the plaque; however, the logo selection is based on where that player makes his most indelible mark.- Baseball Hall of Fame FAQs Winning a World Series is pretty indelible to me.
  17. Uggla is hitting the ball fine,I'm not worried about him,he will start finding the holes... Whats driving me nuts is Hermieda,Ross,Bonifacio, and who ever else plays in the place of Maybin.... Our offense sucks...i've been saying it since January that our offense was going to be a major problem this season.... Ross=4th outfielder on any good team Bonifacio=Backup SS,2b,3b if he's lucky Hermieda=time to give up on this project,he needs to be traded,he has been given every chance to prove himself and failed, time to move on... Helms=Great guy of the bench, should not be starting, happy he's back to the bench Our pitching also has its issues but we have been hurt by injuries so we cant complain to much... Say what you want about Uggla: that he'll break out of his slump, that his luck will change, that his line drives will start to fall for base hits, that his power stroke will return, whatever. I hope that he gets it together. But he is not "hitting the ball fine" right now. His OPS ranks 18th or 19th among 2b.( Even Luis Castillo is out slugging him.) His OBP is also 18th. He's 21st in BA at .193 and he is 2nd in strikeouts with 28.
  18. Thank goodness for that great start then. I think the upcoming 10 game home stand will get us back into good form as we haven't really had any prolonged periods playing at home yet this year. unfortunately we haven exactly been stellar at home either. at least maybe our pitchers can keep some balls in the park.
  19. To say he his luck is not good because he hit the ball at fielder, i think that is why their have fielders, it is like playing the lottery and having the number before and after the winning numbers, come on folks, he is just not hitting It's not like he's rolling over pitches. A ridiculous amount of line drives at people. It's something the batter has very little control of. Not necessarily. Yes his BABIP is low. Stats don't lie but there can be different interpretations. Maybe people have figure out how to shift for him. Maybe he's trying to pull the ball too much. Maybe he's hitting more pop ups. Maybe he stopped taking steroids and his fly balls aren't leaving the park. This down streak of Ugglas dates back to last years ASG. I don't think its just bad luck. He has hit more popups. But he's also hit less fly balls, more line drives, and less groundouts. And remember everyone, the ASG last year had nothing to do with anything. This "down streak" doesn't go back to his ASG, it goes back to his ankle injury. My point was that he has been struggling longer than just a few weeks. It dates back to last year. His problems aren't all due to chance. Sabermetric thoughts on our boy Danny Uggs
  20. 21. "Uggla is more or less the same. Infact, he's even more of an anomoly. He has actually cut down on his K-rates, his LD rates are still on his career norm of 16% but his BABIP is 100 points under his career BABIP. You want bad luck, there's your bad luck. Almost all of his peripherals have improved this year, he's really not somebody I'm worried about. " ============================================================================= Nny, basically, proves that this "bad luck" thing isn't just coming from Tommy & Rich. It's just pretty true, at this point. Well one difference that should be noted is his infield fly ball percentage which has more than doubled from last year from 3.8% of his balls in play to 9.9% this year and given that infield flies are pretty much automatic outs this probably explains a good chunk of the decrease in his babip. That's a good point but i tdoesn't explains a good chunk of his babip. We're talking about 4 more pop ups. Exclude those 4 pop ups and he still has a .219 BABIP. The fact that Uggla is such an anomaly is the reason why I do worry about him.
  22. That also shows that its not just bad luck that's affecting him. Maybe his BA would be .240 if a few more of his line drives were dropping in. But he's aslo flailing at pitches he should be hitting so he's worse than Mendoza.
