  1. wow check swing, seems like it will be a pitcher's duel tonight thank god nolasco is pitching tonight :banghead :banghead
  2. Gonzalez has batted three times already
  3. What the hell kind of inning was that? Make him throw five pitches?
  4. Ross has been impressive driving in runs, with singles, doubles, homers, everything.
  5. The more I look at Torrealba's stats, the less impressed I become. They are very average, especially for a guy who plays at Coors.
  6. This could potentially be good, if Tucker comes out of the pen and throws strikes. Lord knows that Hendrickson's arm couldn't possibly be tired throwing 20 mph.
  7. I wonder which is more important, playing in the game or having yourself 100% for the team, just asking. Yeah, I'm sure playing two innings is really going to hurt.
  8. This all star game selection show is a joke. They have yet to even mention the National League. All but three starters in the AL are from Boston or New York.
  9. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=fla No wonder why the pitching staff sucks. Maybe this is why so many of the pitchers seem to be throwing the ball not as hard as they are capable. They are trying to emulate the ACE PITCHER with years of WINNING EXPERIENCE and VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE of how the game is to be PLAYED CORRECTLY.
  10. We need pitching help badly....and with Hendrickson starting the front office probably figures we're gonna need someone who can throw 4 innings.
  11. Despite all the crap that has gone on in the last month's worth of baseball, the Marlins are currently in a much better position than last year. Now hopefully they finish strong unlike last year.
  12. Torrealba + Fuentes = you got a deal. Would be too good to be true though.
  13. I think its time they seriously consider converting one of the original 10 game winners of 2006 into a full time bullpen ace. I am speaking of course, of Johnson, Nolasco, Sanchez, and Olsen. Converting a good starter into an ace reliever would do wonders for this team in the future. If you don't have the talent in the bullpen, add it from the starting rotation. You can't have great starting pitcher while sacrificing the bullpen. As we learn this year, both must have equal or around equal talent levels to be effective. I would personally consider Olsen for this job. He's going to arbitration...think of signing him to a one year deal as adding a good bullpen arm that we desperately need. A starting rotation of Miller, Johnson, Nolasco, Mitre, (whoever else wins the job) would be more than adequate to compete. Plus, he's a left hander, something we need since Tankersly is just imploding badly.
  14. Looks like the front office is grasping for straws now. Hopefully this move doesn't end up as irresponsible as it sounds.
  15. Its not about fire or passion or showing emotion. Its about getting the job done. I'm a bit worried about Gregg's mentality. He makes it sound like the result of the game is out of his hands. That is NOT the mentality that a closer, or anyone on the professional baseball team, should have. You should have the mentality that you will go out there and impose your will on the game. You will go out there and make things happen. There is no higher power deciding your fate. Its up to you and only you. When you do well, its all you. When you screw up, its also all you.
  16. Gregg needs to realize that his destiny is in his own hands. He makes it sound like he just goes up there and prays that people hit the ball to someone.
  17. I don't buy the whole "No one expected us to win" card. This team has the talent in many spots. Maybe it wasn't known before the beginning of the season, but you know it now, and you should expect more of them. We're not the Washington Nationals.
  18. I just don't understand how EVERYONE can pitch so badly. Even on bad teams, they have at least one guy who pitches well out of the bullpen. How can the entire bullpen be so horrible at the same time? The only common link is the pitching coach. Either that, the front office just swung and missed on the talent search, but that's hard to believe it could just happen with all of these guys.
  19. Let's not be ridiculous...the hitting has been a lot better than most people thought it would be. If this team even had MEDIOCRE pitching they probably have about 8-10 more wins right now.
  20. Whether people are positive about the team or not is based on the team's performance not vice versa.
  21. The pitching coach is in charge of the pitching. He has to answer for the performance. Much like how managers in companies don't control their employees directly by doing things for them, they are still responsible for the poor performance for employees who they are in charge of. Besides, I fail to see how the pitching staff could be any worse if you bring in someone else.
  22. Yeah, but do you really have confidence in Tucker and Hendrickson pitching back to back games at Coors now? I smell a four game sweep.
  23. Like I said you may as well put the pitching machine on the mound. At least it throws strikes.
  24. Remember when everyone was so happy to have him back? Yeah, our pitching is so much improved from last year. Or maybe its because our collection of guys just isn't very good, and for some reason, the front office though that bringing back almost the exact same roster of guys would be a good idea. Yeah....so something definitely needs to happen. Does the front office have the balls to make the moves?
