  1. Because it would be adding a win-more mechanic. If your team is behind and needs to pull the SP early, you are not only in a hole but now the offenses are completely lopsided in favor of the winning team. I do think there needs to be added reemphases to the importance and impact of starting pitching, but a team shouldn’t be crippled even further by a bad SP outing

And not even the good Crash movie
  3. To Valid’s point, if you drop his BABIP down to .333 (which is already really good, eg Arraez is at .338 in his career; those that are .350+ are generally HoF players) than his average would drop roughly ~60 points. This would drop is OBP roughly ~60 points and his SLG roughly ~60 points (assuming each hit lost is a single; percentages also don’t work exactly like this but just back of the napkin math) for a .120 OPS drop. This drops his slash line down to .285/.370/.365/.735. Which is still really good with his defense and speed. To the point he might be “better” overall than Arraez if Arraez is a DH going forward. But hit tool wise I would definitely put Arraez a good level above Edwards I would also expect his BB% to drop too once he cools down; it’s very hard for players without power (especially sub-.100 ISO) to maintain a high BB% as pitchers will just attack the zone more. After all, what are you going to do, hit a single? But would also mean a lower K%, more balls in play, and more hits. Will be interesting to see how all that plays out

I want to say finally considering guy could not go deep at all. Eg Max Meyers has made one less start than him and was on a limited pitch count during most of those fewer starts…and Max still has more innings pitched as a starter than Tyler But also who’s our 5th starter now. I assume Emanuel is just BP depth until the next start

The thing is though is that it’s not like we fired Skip, he was the one that asked us to decline the option. Given it could just be reading the writing on the wall and just wanting to quicken it happening to take that stress away, point is he’s still choosing to leave. So choosing to leave here to manage the White Sox instead would definitely be a choice I also doubt he takes it. His stock is already high between last year’s playoff push + handling the dumpster fire of this year well (compare the club houses here and in CHI). Taking it would really do nothing but hurt his stock He can definitely hold out for a better spot; it’s not like an Edwin Rodriguez situation where it’s his one shot, his one opportunity. Or again like with Edwin of “here’s finally a healthy paycheck” considering Skip is already a multimillionaire from his playing days

There are some things I like about Paul over Rich, but “Rich and Tommy” is far and away above the rest. They played off each other so well, which helped bring a sense of camaraderie with the fan base (which is very important during shit years). Paul and Tommy greatly pales in comparison but man is it at least better than Allen/Nelson/Gaby. Is Tommy doing any more games this year? I know the Marlins TV numbers used to be great, have the numbers gone down sense they sacked them? I really would not be surprised But also what a dumb thing to do by the team. I think it was Loria that fired Tommy for being critical and Sherman that fire Waltz for wanting to basically redo the franchise? Dumb.

Aw I do like Paul. Our color commentaries are fucking atrocious - and what’s insane is it’s still at least an upgrade over what was there a few years ago. But I think Paul does good for what it has to work with I wish they’d ask Rod Allen about the whole chair thing and if he really did have to choke a bitch

Wouldn’t have thought of the comp but that’s actually very apt. Their WAR rate is also very similar (especially BR) That said, losing Cody also was sad and happy to see all the Cody love in the thread. Still remember his 3 HR game. Especially upsetting because we let him go for literally nothing to pad Loria’s wallet
  9. Plus like, it’s the Marlins How are people getting all shocked-Pikachu’d face when the Marlins do exactly what they’ve always done If you root for the team, you know what you’re getting. That’s not defending the Marlins actions throughout the years but also you could just not
  10. Sure but that just shines a light on how annoying sports fandom is

So site changed hands? Good to see it was able to survive that, often doesn’t

BTW this is fucking hilarious Nick Gordon said the moon wasn’t real before the season Gordon in day games this year: .764 OPS In night games: .529 I think the moon got offended by his claim and struck him down

She wasn’t fired but with the restructure of the organization she was demoted…which is as good as being fired
