  1. That's quite a haul you got there.
  2. In years past the entrance for the cardinals was on the complete opposite side of the complex. so you either had to drive over or take a long walk. This year they've revised the layout and everyone is funneled through the entrance on the Marlins side. Closest parking is at the Abacoa skate park.
  3. I went yesterday. The full squad workouts before spring training games begin are the best. Everyone is there. Marlins camp is never too crowded. Its a very nice relaxed environment. I always try to make it out to one or two practices during the week before the first weekend of games. I definitely recommend. I'm not there for autographs. Just excited for the season to begin. A few players may sign when they walk by but most seem to wait until the practice is over. But i never stay that long. Big leaguers came out around 11 am. In years past i've checked out Cardinals practice too but i didn't go over there this time
  4. I sense some fireworks coming up
  5. I’ve watched one game this year.
  6. The theory seems to be they pivoted last minute but I don't buy that. They have a long history of not caring what other people think and just plowing forward with their own ideas. Maybe they thought this was an awesome way to create some buzz, which it was not.
  7. Maybe I have a reading comprehension problem but I was sort of under the assumption they were going to unveil the new city connect uniforms on Saturday only to find out they just announced the first game they'd be wearing said uniform. Massive troll job on the fans. A Marlins specialty.
  8. Fair point. Maybe that should go into the decision making process. What’s a better deal for the company? A tacky logo or no logo? Not all companies are color dependent. Some are. Emirates Airlines have sponsorships all over Europe and they appear in a variety of colors. So they would have more options. also Motorola adopted the padres color scheme for their ad and it looks fine.
  9. At least the colors sort of match. Cincinnati has a blue Kroger patch. Seems like they should have sponsors agree to a color scheme that fits with the uniform
  10. Boca Raton based. Used to be a subsidiary of Tyco
  11. Whenever someone poses the “who do you think of…” question with the original Marlin logo my mind goes to Chuck Carr
  12. Front yard somewhere in the grid to the north of the stadium. Easy access to Dolphin and off you go
  13. According to Nostradamus post on Twitter back in 2019 the Fish are closing in on another title in five years
  14. Attendance is a frustrating topic. There are so many inputs that drive the figure. So to pin it down to one guy is a stretch.
  15. Here is the list of home games that Alcantara started. The first one is opening day, so I excluded that from the average seeing as that they could have started anyone for the home opener and drawn roughly the same number of fans that day. So on average he was worth an additional 700 fans per game. For 16 home starts that is 11,200 tickets for the season. That stretch of games in the summer did see a big uptick in attendance for his games. The drop off came August 3, a weekday when school was coming back into session. The two weekend starts after that point in the schedule showed bigger numbers like you'd expect.
  16. I also found that notable. Poor Wichita. They build that new stadium expecting AAA baseball and without hosting a single game they get bumped down.
  17. https://ballparkdigest.com/2020/11/02/details-of-mlb-takeover-of-milb-emerge/ Marlins look like big winners in all this if the details in here are accurate. AAA in Jax. AA in Pensacola plus all the Jupiter operations (Low A Spring Training and development league). The geography breaking Miami’s way for once
  18. Sorry if this was already discussed but what is the point of opening the outfield sliding doors? It’s 100 degrees outside, the turf is fake, and there’s no fans to “impress” with this feature.
  19. It is totally weird. I think with Stanton though it’s not so much that they’re rooting against him as much as it is that they’re feeling validation. When his salary was dumped it was an opportunity to move a massive future liability off the books coming off a record year for him. A lot of people thought he’d struggle to repeat that and stay healthy. He was excellent in year one with the Yankees but the last two have been plagued by injury. Imagine the frustration if he was taking up Marlins payroll all that time. So I think it’s more relief than it is an “in your face” to him personally.
  20. Pretty cool to look at the NL East standings in August and see the marlins sitting second place
  21. To be fair the Cardinals brass aren’t used to being questioned. They much prefer universal praise for their “way”
  22. So speaking specifically to the ability to host sporting events I remember it slightly more specifically. Italy was the first to hold events without fans as a result of the public health crisis. They started seeing positive tests among players and they suspended the season. Olympiakos (a Greek team) was playing Arsenal in London. Their owner tested positive and shortly after the Arsenal manager tested positive. This kicked off several days where leagues cancelled. This had a domino effect into the US where we had that NBA player test positive. The NCAA tournament cancelled. This all happened within a weeks time and it stemmed from european athletes testing its just interesting to see the difference in responses now compared to then when as you clearly pointed out there was quite a bit of global concern then just like there is now
  23. Could you elaborate because I remember it much differently than you seem to
