  1. Is there an issue with the way our pitchers warm up because we give up an inordinate amount of runs in the first inning of games. This is a trend that has been ongoing since last year and certainly a problem that should be addressed. If you are a gambler, I strongly suggest looking at betting the prop of will there be a run scored in the first inning of Marlins games. It is hitting at a ridiculous percentage.
  2. FWIW, Kyle got promoted and is now with Jacksonville in Double-A. Lot of people don't like him too much because of his K numbers. His BABIP numbers have been constantly low, which won't hold up at the ML level. GB/Control pitcher, limits hrs and xbh. He's a good spec, top-20 spec in our system and that's saying a bunch since we have such a deep system, and often gets labeled as a sleeper candidate. But he isn't an elite spec at the moment. The problem is, his K-rates have declined every single year to this point, all the way down to 4.9 K/9 this year. Him "breaking out" would constitute his K rates going back to the way they were earlier in his career. K/9 05: 7.1 06: 6.1 07: 5.5 08: 5.3 09: 4.9
  3. Was just looking at Coghlan's stats and wondering when he would get a shot. Then I come here and see this thread first thing. Looking forward to seeing what he can do and starting in Colorado can't hurt a solid hitter. Team needs a little shakeup at this point as they have been drifting towards mediocrity (at best).
  4. So far at Jupiter, 26 ip and 1 er given up. Allowed just 3 walks too. Just turned 22 last week. Is he a legit prospect? Tools?
  5. Here was my initial list of possibilities after scanning the minor league season stats: Tagg Bozied (reward for good season) John Gall Robert Andino Brett Hayes and/or Paul Hoover (4th catcher) Dallas McPherson (definitely deserving) Jai Miller (?) Chris Seddon (unlikely) Eulogio de la Cruz Dallas Trahern (probably will be shut down with thumb) Ross Wolf Taylor Tankersley Rick Vanden Hurk Willie Glen (unlikely, but reward for his AA year) Gaby Sanchez John Raynor Chris Coghlan Cameron Maybin Brett Sinkbeil (not sure of his status) Ryan Tucker Andrew Miller Brett Carroll injured: Badenhop De Aza Rabelo They are in no particular order, and I didn't take into account their roster status or may have missed some injuries or previous callups. Those were the ones I could see possibly being called up.
  6. My baby Marlin was called up to Jupiter, and his first outing went great, 2.0 IP, no hits, 1 K. All right, bout damn time! Small sample size, but Corey is putting up more sick numbers in the FSL: 10.1 ip, 1 bb, 11 k's, 0.87 era, 0.48 whip. Oppponents are batting a robust .121 against him.

  8. Updating Corey's numbers at Greensboro: 5-0, 1.09 era, 58 ip, 19bb, 92Ks, .177baa, 0.95 whip. through Aug. 4
  9. Yes, I did mean to say Carolina at AA. I agree that this being his first full season (Stanton as well) they should stay in the Sally League for the rest of the year. Maybe give them a week or two in Jupiter in the end just for a taste. Good info on the monthly splits as well. Can someone apprise me of how his (and Stanton's) defense are. Obviously the Sally League does not have optimum fields but all indications are the bat is there but what about the glove?
  10. Right now he is doing extremely well, at least at the plate, in Greensboro. Is the organization committed to keeping him their for the full year or is there a chance he goes to the Florida State League affiliate in Jupiter? This may be jumping the gun as he is only about 30 games into his full season career but just wondering what the possibilities were. If I were guessing I would say they keep him there this year and move him to Jupiter next year, with the possibility of playing at Greensboro the second half of the year. More likely Greensboro the following year then skip AAA to the bigs in 2011. Wondering if there was any other insight.
  11. The FO has been really tentative moving any of the older guys tearing up the SALLY this year. Czyz and Battisto are also performing way to good for their age. Was wondering myself why he hasn't been promoted, at least to the FSL. Curious the reason why at his age and those ridiculous stats they are keeping him in Low-A ball.
  12. At 24, he's a little old for the Sally league but his numbers are absolutely lights out so far. 2008GreensboroSAL24FlaA 300.99230005036.121442116000 5.200.502.7214.860.88-- Minor League Totals - 3 Season(s)943.5771000131116.197504684414651 7.520.623.4111.321.21-- That 14.86 is strikeouts per 9 innings. Yes, that is 60 k's in 36.1 ip's. 0.88 WHIP as well. That didn't come out too well with the cut and paste. He is 3-0 with a 0.99 era.

  14. The Jai Miller era is over. If you blinked you missed the Marlins version of Moonlight Graham. At least he'll have a story to tell his grandkids now.
  15. Since the beginning with Charlie Johnson in the draft and Clemente Nunez signed as a FA. I actually held an expansion draft party complete with teel and black balloons and streamers. Nigel Wilson, LOL.
  16. Putting together a depth chart of the organization by position. First one I tackled is catcher. Feel free to add comments or corrections: Organized by name, league, and age M. Rabelo- majors M.
