  1. I find it funny how former Marlins "fans" who "quit" being a fan of the team due to the firesale continue to pay attention to the team. If you quit being a fan, that's fine but act like it. Seen several of them already on Twitter and Facebook. They endlessly feel the need to remind you how they are no longer a fan and why you shouldn't be one either.

I quit on this team's ownership and I will not do anything that will contribute a single penny until something in the upper management changes. I'm not here to root against anyone or taunt anyone who is still in 100 percent. I'm not emotionally involved in any of the games anymore, but I will admit that I am "intrigued" to see what actually happens on the field, even if it is comedically bad, which in all likelihood it will be.

^^^ This describes me. You nailed it. Thanks. I'm too exhausted to be emotionally invested with the Lorias. He hijacked my childhood team. I tried for years to stay the course out of some f--ked up obligation to be loyal and defend my precious underdogs. And there were/are players I have enjoyed and tuned in for, as well as Rich and Tommy. Now, though, I'm not rooting for them. Not rooting against them, either. I just...don't care. I won't let this ruin baseball for me, though. I feel FREE. In a way, I almost hope they lose enough games to trade Stanton because I truly feel he deserves so much better. As a fan you don't want to see someone like him miserable on your team, even if he's the only saving grace on the team -- especially if he's the only saving grace. It's not fair for him. I hope you guys find peace this year.

I find the stockholm syndrome-y defense of the Marlins just as funny...

but I don't think anyone who's still active on this board, regardless of their negativity, wouldn't consider themselves a Marlins fan still.

I love you so much right now. Stockholm Syndrome is the perfect description.

  3. Glad he's getting the call. Figured it'd be the 10 days under the bullpen circumstances being a contributing factor in his being sent down. He's the kind of kid who makes the most out of getting consistent ABs in AAA, so hopefully he gets a few starts a week. Wouldn't mind seeing LoMo at first and Gaby on the bench in those cases.

  4. I'm not so sure Jeter would have gotten this much attention, personally. However, I wouldn't know. He ranked in the top 50 prospects each year in the Minors, got to the top 10 his last 2 seasons and been up ever since.

    Who knows, really ...

I think maybe Griffey, Jr. would have been a better example for that - much more comparable.

Yeah, true. The Jeter example is my go-to because I was just a preschooler when Junior came up, where I was much older when Jeter came up. Also, his hype had a lot to do with the Yankee franchise. The Harper hype is refreshing in a way that he is a product of the Nats, who before this season were basically the NL's punching bag, and now it ties into the storyline of their impressive season. Almost like the 2008 Rays and Evan Longoria's emergence.

  5. It's like Bryce Harper is baseball's newborn baby and they have to chronicle and marvel at every 'first' as if he was taking his first big boy steps or learning to use the potty.

He's 19. He's the top prospect in baseball.

You don't like Bryce Harper. That's cool. But you're not exactly being reasonable.

Calm down, it was a joke. He's a 19-year-old phenom. I get it. It was really an observation on how the media now handles phenoms in this new age of social media. Imagine how much more exposed Derek Jeter would have been if the Internet wasn't in its infancy when he came up.

It. was. apparently. a. failed. attempt. at. humor. whysoserious, bob? Why are your panties in a knot so easily?

It's weird, bob, because I actually enjoy and agree with a lot of your posts, but it disappoints me when you talk down to people/posters when you're trying to make your point....especially when you miss a joke and take it more seriously than it really is. If you read earlier in this thread, I praised Bryce for how he handled getting hit by Hamels and how it was dumb to hit him just because he comes with hype. But yeah, condescend me. You really put me in my place.

  6. Good grief. I clicked on this thread expecting to read about everyone raving about how badass the attendance has been.

My family left Miami when I was five years old, and I would give my left tit to live down there and be able to go to games, whether I lived in Miami, Miramar or even f**king Boca. I would find a way to get there and I wouldn't complain. Get the hell over it. Things are actually kind of going well (right now). I can actually hear the crowd roar on TV after a big play, and today's walk off grand slam crowd reaction made me proud.

People of South Florida -- you don't appreciate how LUCKY you are to live within driving distance of the Marlins. You seem like whiny bitches complaining about getting to go to Marlins games. F**k you.

    PS I'm drunk.

  7. I actually took a pic with that Stanton sign on Opening Night. I was wearing his jersey. It's on my dad's phone, though.

I wonder if that act uses the same part of the brain that girls share that makes them buy iPhones?

Seriously, every girl I know has an iPhone. Like, did you all make a pact to never buy another phone?

    /random

...my dad buys my iPhones for me on his company account....

    Judge me.

  8. That was Cody Ross walk off style - I am still shaking and screaming.

    :kiss

Me too...I keep rewinding it. And also, it makes me choke up a bit to see the big crowd collectively losing their minds as soon as Stanton connected, and the celebration at home plate.
