  2. Hi guys! UNC Wilmington CHawk here again..... You all are great!! Sounds like there are some pretty cool places to hit while down your way and with the way you guys are playing now sounds like we may see some pretty good baseball too. I think we have decided to stay at the Hard Rock like most of you have recommended. I think we got a pretty good deal...$427 per person from Thursday - Sunday. This price includes airfare from here in Wilmington, 2 rooms at the HR, rental car and all taxes and fees. We did not think this was to bad with the price of gas and weekend nights at the HR and all. As far as the tickets we are going to just chill till we get to the stauium and look for the albino guy or someone out front. Hey, let me ask you this...what are the better sections and rows to look for if we are trying to sit close to the field? I know at some parks we have been to AA is by the field and A is like 28 rows back or something silly ect...I try and know the "better" seats before trying to deal with a scalper or the person at the ticket window. We all went to Yankee stadium this past April for opening weekend and were dealing with the scalpers to a "sold out" game who wanted like $150 for "great seats" they were upper's and we just took a WTF and went to the Yankee ticket window and scored tickets right behind the plate about 20 rows back for $80????????? Who knows????????????? Also someone posted about the track, what are the cool tracks to check out and do they run late at night (like after the games would let out) or in the afternoons? What are some of the better ones to check out? Also I have always heard about jai-alai in Miami. I that worth checking out??? Where would be the best spot? I checked out the website for fla-gaming.com and it looks interesting. GoFishX2....where in NC are you coming to school? Hope it's it UNC Wilmington we are all Alum's We think thats it for now. Thanks for all of your help!! We are looking forward to a great weekend and yes we will bring ponchos. Like you guys we live at the beach (just were brushed by tropical storm Cristobal) and we know about the "passing" showers. Oh, and it looks like we may get to see a few first place teams that weekend too. CONGRATS on this past weekend! Go FISH! Most likely Appalachian State U in Boone, NC. I have some other choices more northern not too much of course, but I have only heard good things from NC so I want to check it out plus I am an outdoor type person. Enjoy your time in Miami your going to have a great time! :thumbup I've seen App State in person. There is not much to do in Boone. Its a mountain town, more of a mountain vacation place Yea you are correct! Not a whole lot to do in Boone, other than App State (they do play some good football there) and it is COLD as *$#@#$ in the winter up there. You should check out the DUB.... www.uncw.edu Thanks for all of the info you guys. We are really looking forward to everything...
  3. Thanks Godfather! Yep the whole deal for 4 and change. From what you said Jai Alai sounds like a "if we have time" thing to do Nice, Oak Island! That is a great "locals' beach that people can still buy ocean front for not to much money compared to others around here and I am sure South Fla. Not sure if you guys got to Wrightsville Beach but that is not a bad "people watching" beach for around here. Yea, we are looking forward to "people watching" in Miami and around. Is there a better place, maybe a good place to eat down in South Beach to "see the sights"? Also what are the better gentleman's clubs aound the Hard Rock area, but just like the Jai Alai, only "if we have time" :whistle As far as up our way, there is a pretty cool ride on the Southport to Ft. Fisher ferry that is a neat way to get from place to place if you have time. You drive your car right on the ferry and it's about a 30 to 40 min ride. Then when you get the Ft. Fisher you can check out the NC Aquarium. It is a pretty nice place for not a lot of $$. While you are there you need to cruise on down a few miles (5) to Carolina Beach and the old boardwalk (not much left there) and have a Britt's Doughnut. Britts was just named by MSNBC as the #2 best doughnut in the country. They have been in business 70 years!! Heck I did not even know doughnuts have been around 70 years. Let me know what type of stuff you wanna do I can hook you up. Thanks again, like I said we are looking forward to a great weekend in South Fla.

  5. Hi all, Some friends and I are going to head to South Fla. for a few games in a few weeks. We will be down your way for the Cards and Cubs. We are huge baseball fans and really love good baseball and it looks like with the way you guys are playing that this would be a perfect time to take in some action. A few questions please....what is the best way to get tickets? I noticed on ticketmaster that there were plenty of seats for all of the games we will be at (8/14 - 8/17) however we want to do this with as little money as we can (we would like to be very close to the field along the lines). Are there any discounts we should know about? Are there guys outside of DS that sell or give away tickets or anywhere in the area that does? Are the players ava. after games for autographs by a parking lot where they leave? Where do the visiting teams that are in town to play the Fish stay? What are some of the nicer close hotels? Some folks have recomended the Hard Rock and the Westin at Hollywood any thoughts? We always try to at least find out where the visitors are staying to try and meet a few for pic's ect... Where are there some nice pre game and post game spots to check out? What things are there to do in the day for some (late 20s early 30s) guys that will not hang at the beach because we all live at the beach (Wilmington NC). Last thing, good luck on your new ball park I really hope it works out for you guys. Sounds like the fans and the Fish deserve better! Thanks for taking to to reply!
