This is fair but we also have limited power options so that could play into it. Hollandsworth is apologizing for Fredi now
agreed, but down 1 with 2 on, you have to know anything in the gap is a guaranteed win if bour isn't running.
-
why the fuck would you not pinch run for bour?
-
fining/suspending players who get dui's would be a start
much like more intense orientation to newer players on the dangers
bro, he's in his home country and it's the offseason ... how is the MLB/MLBPA going to take preventive measures to avoid someone simply enjoying drinks with some family and friends? Shit happens. Players aren't invincible, they're humans at the end of the day, and make mistakes just like you and I.

dee gordon hits his first homer of the year, justin bour gets the first triple of his career, this game had it all, and Rich Waltz had the perfect call, honoring Fernandez in what was a mighty ceremony at marlins park, on a day so emotional, a moment so dark

Hi guys, I am A Washington Nationals fan who felt compelled to sign up and show my support during this horrible time For Marlins fans, baseball as a community and most importantly Jose's family and friends. As a baseball fan I hated facing the guy, he was an unbelievable player and that game he tossed against us last week was just amazing. He seemed a larger than life character.
There is no words to make anybody feel better at this terrible time, but I wanted to send my best wishes to you all
thank you for your kind words and support. This is a time when we can all come together, not just as baseball fans, but as human beings to mourn the loss of one amazing soul. You're a good person Fonzie, and I hope everyone across the nation has Jose and his family in their hearts.

Why would they have to confirm it was another Jose Fernandez. Those who did the news conference stated that many have seen Jose and other Marlins on that boat. And a few occasions during safety inspections. It is somewhat odd they inform the Marlins before next of kin which is the way notification is to be done.
dealing with the death of a famous MLB star is a little different than the death of an average joe. I think informing the next of kin is secondary even though it shouldn't be. Or they informed both the next of kin and the Marlins, knowing how big of a news story this would be.

It was stated he did not drown. The cause of death was by trauma. Whether it was hitting on the jetty or the boat landing on him really doesn't matter. However I think it is telling that Samson said that the Marlins were called to verify Jose Fernandez's address found on a body. This leads me to speculate that the trauma was so severe that he could not be recognized and used other means to ID him.
that's a possibility, but I heard the address confirmation was just to ensure it was actually the Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, given how common the name is.
-
He died from trauma, not drowning they said yesterday. Forgot who said it.
appreciate the info Admin. still curious what the autopsy will reveal.
-
I can imagine that if your ejected from the boat you will hit your head on one of those nasty looking rocks, blunt force my guess.
god, i don't even want to imagine that scene. truly truly horrific.
-
Purely speculative guess on my part: the boat capsized, he hit his head on either the jetty or the boat and was knocked unconscious.
yeah that's what i was thinking too. If they find water in his lungs, that means he was still alive when he hit the water. If there's no water in the lungs, or dry drowning, that means the death occurred before he was submersed in water.
-
my question is, how did he die? Did he die from the impact of the boat striking the jetty. Did he drown to death? Did he die after the boat capsized and flipped over and he was stuck underneath? Have any details emerged about this? Did they complete the autopsy?

damn, from wikipedia ... talking about him in the past tense
José D. Fernández (July 31, 1992 – September 25, 2016) was a Cuban American professional baseball pitcher. He played inMajor League Baseball (MLB) for the Miami Marlins from 2013 through 2016.

still can't believe this is real life

Just watched the video of the Coast Guard official laughing. As a member of the Coast Guard, I am disgusted by that. She was a Captain as well, which means she's been in for at least 20 years.
you know it's a tough situation. Dealing with a death is one of the hardest things, and sometimes adding a little humor helps the healing process. Still not a fan of it, but I get it

jose had career earnings of $6.5M, and that's not including all the endorsement deals and commercials he did. I'm hoping that's enough to take care of his entire family financially.

Rich Waltz man...
i didn't see it, if you have a link, please share

i'm a little shocked at my emotions right now. I've been holding back tears for the past few hours and broke down a few times. I have tears rolling down my cheeks as I type this, and I've never felt this way about anyone I've never seen with my own eyes or never knew personally. It just goes to show you that Jose possessed an aura and energy that travels and resonates in the hearts and soul of people all around the world. He's truly an amazing human being, almost god like, and now he is god. RIP Jose. You touched the lives of so many, even the people who never had a single interaction with you.

i wonder where bonds is, and wonder what he's going through
-
damn don just made me break down
-
jose's last out ever recorded, in what was an absolute brilliant start.
-
one of my favorite jose moments as well.

Today was supposed to be Jose Day. It was supposed to be the last Jose day of the season. He was starting today's game. I know Jose would've just pummeled that Braves lineup today.
he was actually scratched to give him an extra day of rest. I think that's the reason he was on the boat last night

I really like our starting rotation, but man, I miss Jose Fernandez so much, not just for his success as a pitcher, but his overall demeanor and attitude on and off the field and the positive influence he had on the rest of the team.
well ... what can you do.
